Holy grail of racing or not, the PS3 hardware can only do so much, Forza is not doing 3d either.

So that's your response? Who said anything about 3d? You seriously didn't have anything better to continue the discussion about? I understand GT is your preference but "c'mon man".

Uhhm... there are three pictures that will nullify your claims. Homespace vs gameplay... so..:)

A car may well look pretty, but the biggest reason we play these games is for the drive, not to look at pretty cars (though it is an added bonus).

I don't get what you're trying to prove.

That Forza 4 looks better than GT5 in some aspects? Of course it should, it came out almost a full year after GT5.

But most people who buy Forza don't care about the graphics so much as the cars they can drive in it.

Anyway, I feel this thread is gonna end soon on a bad note.

HUH? The fact that Gt5 is the holy grail of racing has nothing to do with anything, they can only do what the hardware can, and the fact they had to add 3d limited what they could do, want me to spell it out for you? LMAO. 3d has to cur the FPS in half.......also, this is the reason for the blocky shaodws is 3d... Forza doesnt have to worry about 3d rendering.....

SO, basically the poor performance and graphical issues are because of 3d?

No i never claimed such a thing. They will be graphicly equel imo though. I play a game for the fun factor and imo that was something gt lacked in for me. Forza has its issues too. 👍

Forza doesn't worry about anything. They go on steps of other racing games. They do nothing with innovations whatever they say.

I love PD for their dare to enter unknown. Scary followers will follow GT's path, and of course can avoid many mistakes of the pathfinder. But something followers just can't do - find their own unique path. Forza will never get even 1/10th of respect that I have for GT, because it's money-and-ambitions driving game, it even does not have it's unique idea.

Looks funny imo. But i would still rather have this

Than this the clay mold damage from gt5, wich has no mechanical damage, no broken glass, etc etc.

Nice, FM4 pretty pic vs. GT5 glitchy pic. Why don't you show some like the poor compact cars that had their paints turned white when being crashed in the video I've posted?

Yeah, I know... but why he took a pic of the nice GTO with just a dent on the body?

Because FM wins this argument hands down and you know it. FM's worst damage pic is better that gt5's best. The only
good damage gt5 has are a few premium rallymodels.

Is this more too your liking?

It's even cooler, because people complain about GT5 AI, looks like FM4 learned a thing or 2 with GT5... watch the small cars crashing into the bimmer... they don't change their path at all...

Funny how you suddenly dont have an answer too my reply about the damage. I already saw and commented on your video.
It's still lihgtyears ahead of gt claymodels.

Ps: I hate standards..

PS: I haven't asked you :)

Have a nice day.

I so damn lol'ed watching this video  Those little cars flipping are so cute.

The next person to tell others where and how to post, or to toss out the "troll" or "fanboy" term gets a 48 hour holiday. I've just deleted almost a page's length of garbage like that, so we won't be seeing it again.

Yet again, this isn't the thread to debate (rationally) the merits of FM vs GT; we have a thread for that. Keep it over there.

Let's try this one more time.

Then why aren't you modding the people above who are talking nothing about the question posted by are starting to compare the games?

BACK ON TOPIC

I have already dropped GT5 more in favor of it collecting dust. Really disappointed that the game did not keep my attention as long as I thought it would, hopefully PD gets the package more complete with GT6.

This thread should be closed completely or moved to the Forza subforum. The people interested in droping GT5 in favour of Forza 4 are probably allready there. So instead of causing the same old Forza vs GT debate in the GT5 subforum and advertising Forza 4, they could just debate with people with the same interests.

On topic:
I did not drop GT5 and probably will not. I have played several other racing games alongside with GT5 but allways return. I got no problem playing Formula 1 games, Shift, GTR Evolution, or whatever, but to me they only serve as a little distraction from GT5. Actually GT5 was in my console for most of the time since it launched, more than any BluRay, or other game.
I may buy Shift 2 next year, as soon as there is a version including all the DLC for a good price.

But i will not buy a new console and a new wheel, just to play a game on a platform other then PC and PS3.

Ironically I watched your video and the cars very clearly at the beginning do try to avoid the car hunting them down, GT5 is the same way.
To properly compare the AI, you'll need these things:
Full game release of FM4
GT5 vs FM4 thread.
Actual racing gameplay video.

Okay, so you can take a Harry Potter book, change the names to Swahili, make all food and magic references African, and it's not plagiarism, I take it? Well, it would only be 75% or so similar, right? At least that was Joe OBiden's argument..
Not the same, sorry.

I think you might be onto something, because paint shops just don't exist in real life.
Name one thing off your list that doesn't exist in real life.

Whatever you say, professer. I'm sure that MS was working on those avatards a year before Ninty even started, and their ninjas broke into Redmond HQ one night and got the good stuff.
Again with the hostility, you've really gone downhill in this area lately, I think it's been made evidently clear by a moderator personal remarks are to cease.
I don't know what an "avatard", "Ninty", or "Redmond HQ" is, and frankly, I don't need to in order to know what a copy is.

No, we actually have quite a history with MS grabbing ideas and driving the competition nuts with their blatant rip-offs like my Mii example, and I'm appalled that so many people will let this company literally get away with corporate murder. You can insist that MS Game Studios people were throwing darts at racing game ideas, and magically they all lined up with a game that just happened to look almost exactly like Gran Turismo all you want to, but you're going to find this a pretty hard sell. Maybe at an XBox forum it'll fly.
What did I say?
They aimed to make a racing sim "better" then GT.
We can argue politics and law for 43 pages, but if what FM has done constitutes anything illegal, then PD has already done the same thing, and any gaming company that dares add a fan-requested feature that happens to be in another game will be screwed.

Not to mention, everything in your list is something to do with reality.
How does one "steal" the "idea" of reality?

Let's have another look, shall we?

Which racing games feature these core gameplay factors?
[*]A massive collection of literally hundreds of cars from low horsepower compact cars through high performance sports cars to full blown race cars.
Jay Leno has one, and most of the cars exist, NFS had "real" cars before GT, so if any fraud is here, see PD also.

[*]A number of real world as well as fantasy courses to race on.
Again, One is reality, and fake courses existed before GT even started.

[*]A "sandbox" system of ladder progression where different racing series are opened up when certain races are won, but in an open structure which gives you an ever wider selection though with certain restrictions.
Soooo, similar to real life in structure?

[*]A credit economy, given in race prizes, enabling you to buy and collect ever more desirable and higher performing cars, as well as sell them.
Well that's not realistic, earning money for winning races...

[*]Prize cars granted upon winning races, as well as when reaching certain milestones in the game.
This has also been in games since before GT1.

[*]A system of upgrades based roughly on real world offerings from various manufacturers for sale, from tires to engine enhancements to body mods, as well as race modification of stock sports cars with liveries.
Again with reality. What could FM do to not be a copy in your book?

[*]A photo taking mode, offering various scenic locations to pose your car.
I have a camera and car, would you like proof that this happens IRL?

[*]A system of bot drivers you can create or hire to drive races for you.
Pretty sure racing team owners and pit crew chiefs exist.

As for simulating management, try Dynamix football from 1992. Guess they should sue PD, yes?

^Actually at 3:18 a couple a cars run right into the stopped bmw and a flipped car without doing anything but slowing down.
Go park a car on a real racetrack and see what happens. ;)
Or just watch races where crashes happen, stopped vehicles being plowed into isn't exactly "far-fetched".

So like I said,
you need three things to compare the AI.
👍

Look, another FM vs GT thread, how interesting.

Actually I'm pretty sure this has gone out of the AUP, funny enough no one seems to address the issue:

AUP
*You will not post advertisements or solicitations outside of designated areas or without proper authorization.

The thread is about dropping GT5 and the reasons after that, but is not about posting promotional content about FM4, I believe there is a section for that, but is quite funny to see how this kind of thing goes under the radar.

Besides, FM is not the only racing game besides of GT, there is also GTR-2 evolution, Dirt3 and of course Shift 2 and of course the more "hardcore" ones on PC.

But what do I know.

@CSLACR

Well obviously, but it's apparent that some of those cars make no adjustments what so ever. And they are slow vehicles aswell. They just continue on there way into the car.

Watch it. I've seen GT5 videos where they make a conscious effort to move out of the way for stopped vehicles while racing.
