This thread shows that GT fans are still pretty loyal.

Or that GT5 is a pretty good game, even if it has flaws. I wouldn't play GT5 if I thought it was awful and boring, but that isn't the case here.

As I said before, I will buy Forza 4 and will hopefully enjoy it for a while. Can't see the problem with having 2 great racing games to chose from instead of only one?

I think the people who were going to drop it have already dropped it.

Yup....I've already more or less dropped it. Played it once in about a month. Still monitor the news to see if PD will get off their arses and improve the game, instead of adding useless stuff.

I've barely played it recently, I've completed every B Spec race and only have the endurances left in A Spec (which I'm unlikely ever to do), online racing doesn't interest me which just leaves me checking for any new seasonal events that are added. However, I'll be dropping it like a hot stone as soon as Assassin's Creed is out, then once I've completed that and had my fill of it's multiplayer I'll then move on to Unchartered and probably return to GT5 once I'm finished with that some time next year.

And what irony is that? Are you one of those people who love to see endless fights? It's not like we haven't heard the same laundry list of grouches hundreds of times now.

No. I thought about it when I lost everything and was LVL 40 A + B, eventually everyone supported me by sending me a thousand plus gifts so I got back on track and I have to mention, the GT Community is one of the strongest I've ever been part of. It's impossible to break that connection, and no ... I will never drop GT.

Yeah, I don't get that either. How does playing one game, because that's the game you want to play, make you closed minded?

What do you mean, the PS3 can play games other than GT5???

GT5 is the only game I own for the PS3 and it never comes out. It shall only be removed when or if GT6 is released for the PS3. If not, the GT6 will be the one and only game I'd buy for the PS4.

I'm not big in to gaming anymore other than sim racing. Yeah, I did own other titles on the PlayStation and PS2 when I was younger. But now, all I want to do is race.

This doesn't make me closed minded, I'm just dedicated to Gran Turismo.

Because you're not opening yourself to all the other games out there. Do you only watch one TV show, listen to one CD?

Don't you think there may be quite a few people who had their fair share of "other" games, and now simply want to play one? Tell me again how this is closed minded?

Edit: And really now, are you telling me to spend more time on a gaming console to become more open minded?

You need to know that there are peoples who just knows what they want. 10 years back I can play all really good games but now (I'm 25) I don't need them. Almost...(Shadow of the Colossus, Castlevania: SOTN, Metroid Prime and Mario Galaxy are last games I've played).
You can do unbelievable things just with your imagination compared to that games are...games. And to say reality is very fun too! :sly:👍

BTW: I'm busy musician and not closed minded, but I play only GT5 in my PS3. Not watching TV at all, it's crap, even "Popular science" films are crap.

(but there are closed minded I agree)

Why does anyone have to? Can I call you close-minded because you've never listened to some sub-genre of music that I like and you've never even tried to encounter (irrespective of whether you've heard of it)? No, that's a pretty ignorant (close-minded, even) thing to do in itself. Now, if you were to listen to said music and staunchly reject it as music, or even to refuse to listen to it given the opportunity, then that could (possibly) be construed as close-minded behaviour.

How many people have the opportunity to play every game ever made, to watch every episode of every TV show ever made, and to listen to every song ever written? Is everyone else thence close-minded?

You must have missed the post where I said I'm not a gamer and that GT is a hobby.

I don't watch TV and no, I've actually got 2 CDs.

Mubble
FM4 will wipe the floor with GT5. That is in no debate.

No, you're right. Opinion cannot be debated, only fact.
Please don't state your opinions as a fact because all that does is cause the thread to erupt into a battle ground and get locked down.

I think he talking about "fanboys" that are screaming about only their game and not knowing that there are other very good games. But I don't think "fanboys" are playing GT, because GT is not as "cool" or "brutal" not "agressive" as other driving games. It even has some jazzy menu music that can't attract "fanboys". In that view GT is very serious game, and not created to "collect a maximum absolutely mindless "fanboys".

As soon as the reviews of Forza 4 come out? If it turns out to be as good as all the hype?

I think all the hype might actually be Forza 4's Achilles heel. All pictures I've seen from Forza 4 has been from the Auto Vista feature or the photomode feature, or just pictures of tracks. I haven't seen any actual in game pictures yet, so I remain sceptical about the amazing new graphics. I mean, it's easy to render beautiful high quality images when you have ages to do all the processing, but something tells me that when racing the difference from Forza 3 won't be that radical. At least not in graphics.

I hope the physics are a lot better. Well, maybe the physics isn't the most important, the most important for me is if they have improved the way you control the car. Maybe it's just me who doesn't have the right skills, but my DFGT wheel and GT5 is lightyears ahead of the handcontrol and Forza 3. I know it's not a fair comparison, but as Forza 3 doesn't support any wheel it's pretty much their own fault.

But still, improving the graphics and the controls does just make it as good as GT5, not better. They're gonna have to really outdo GT5 if Forza 4 is gonna make me abandon GT5.

Me and 'Knight_Spirit' drifted forza 4 at Gamefest. The in-game graphics were nothing special, and seemed to have some odd physics, including the dodgy over steer modelling from TDU2 and Shift 2.

Ah, well, that is different. As are trolls, again.

I'm not sure that GT5 doesn't engender fanboyism, though; sure, they may not be quite like the Halo worshippers (BRO), but in my opinion fanboyism isn't defined by culture, it transcends it. Look at the hipsters...

To me, fanboyism is underpinned by a refusal (conscious or otherwise) to accept any viewpoint other than their own. Which is probably the definition of close-mindedness. Heh.

I put maybe because i am totally anti-xbox but the more i see of forza 4 the more i like :guilty:
But i do hope and pray that someone from Polyphony Digital reads these boards and see that people are getting restless and want extra things like DLC cars and tracks plus other ideas that have been put forward and talked about on these boards and think Gt5 has the potential to be a truly epic game and is a shame there are things missing that were in previous Gts and things that could of been it this one (Gt5) :)

I personal only want three things....
1/ The old driving park oval test track 👍
2/ A full racing flag system with on/off option 👍
3/ An F1 style kers (Nos) system 👍

I kind of lost interest in GT5 already. But it wasn't because of Forza.

I still say, despite it's flaws, GT5 is the best racer currently available for the PS3. And with a few minor tweaks, even as options, it could go a long way to improve things for the hard-core sim racing crowd. But at this point, for what I want out of sim racer, it just doesn't cut it any longer. And I doubt any console game will.

I'll look back again if and when they:
- Eliminate the arcade like, exaggerated slip stream
- Improve the realism and consistency of the tire model
- Add full support with improved FFB for the G27
- Improve (as in lower) the threshold for damage modeling and IMPROVE the physical damage modeling.
These alone would probably rekindle my interest. And I'd probably considering buying additional content, if it ever becomes available.

But I'm afraid all we're going to get over the next few updates are more driving suits and more 'chase the chicken' pseudo-race events. It makes me kind of sad because GT5 really has the potential to be a lot more but I don't think PD/Sony are really interested in taking it in that direction.

yep i would agree with this too :)

but i will add this as long as the bring updates like the one we will be getting soon then no i won't be dropping GT5 i was just afraid that i was losing interest but with updates i will not get bored BTW i mean in offline mode GT5 is a great game online but some of us don't have broadband at home :guilty:

I didnt even realise that there was any kind of hype arround Forza 4. None of my friends plans to buy it, not even the ones that have Forza 3. I will ask them about it...

I have been a huge GT fan since the beginning. GT5 killed that for me. The game was shipped with a few glaring flaws and missing features that still haven't been rectified almost a year later. I gave 5 a solid couple of months worth of play to give it a good proper sort out, but am still left with a bad taste in my mouth. Any other racing game has a chance to dethrone GT as my occasional hotlapper simply because the big flaws are at the core of the game and it has a devastating effect on the overall experience.

I'm not holding my breath for 6 to be any better either.

What happened to those BIG update coming soon? Is it something Kaz keep to kill Forza or is it some useless thing?

I was disappointed too when i first started GT5 after i bought it.. When i saw those blocky shadows, standard cars, tunning etc.. Even some wheels looks standard :/ There was more choice in GT4, all cars was equal.. Why can't we change wheel on standard?? It was the big game of the year, HD 1080p, 3D! Why did we still get PS2 graphic for the cars? I was sure they said something about adapting them for the PS3.. But not like that -.-

I'm still a GT fan but they need to do something soon.. oh and fix the smoke! Its too much grayish :/

Notice how 'No' has completely swamped out everything else in the poll already.
The TO should have asked folks in the Forza 4 forum(s) then ...

With all the hot games that have been released and are about to be released I play GT5 at least (only) once a week; every Thu (almost, but that is up to PD's "Seasonal" policy) - I'll start & finish the endurances once a proper save system is in place. Everything else (DLC, updates, etc.) is highly appreciated, but I do have more games than GT5 ... but truly, GT5 is a great game. I have enjoyed every minute so fare; however, I have to admit that the Chrome and Stealth cars (CE) plus the fact that you were allowed to use these overpowered cars straight from the beginning of your A-Spec carreer (no car restrictions for most of the events) was a bit odd ...

Off topic slightly but has anyone noticed that smoke doesn't appear in mirrors? I'm not starting a topic here, just seeing if it's just my version that has this 'quibble'?

And fanboyism? I think most members here vary the games they play and even if, like me, only play GT will not argue that there is nothing greater.

To be fair, any respectable member of this forum is not going to be your average fanboy. There is so much mere to it than denying the existence of other games. Most members on this forum are open minded just to exist here.
