And what irony is that? Are you one of those people who love to see endless fights? It's not like we haven't heard the same laundry list of grouches hundreds of times now.

Or your laundry list of reasons why GT5 is the best simulator/driving game/ racing game/whatever hundreds of times now. Praise and "grouching" are two sides of the same coin. The (I thought) obvious irony is that people complain about....complaining

I dont enjoy seeing "endless fights", but I'm not naive either.

Well I'm not completely biased, I complimented Forza. I said it was good enough to maybe hold my attention for a month. That's better credit than I give most other driving games.

And also...

Kaz couldn't care less about what Turn 10 is doing with Fakeza or any of the other companies producing driving games, he's already stated he doesn't pay attention to competition. Kaz has based the GT projects off his own vision, he isn't worrying himself with what Shift or Forgetza is doing. Meanwhile, Mr. Greenawalt or whoever heads the Forza project is continually marketing his little game as the great dragon killer. I think he referrenced the progress his team made with Forza 3 as PD passing the torch to Turn 10? And yet, as I understand Forza 3 is a terrible game - far too casual, visually unappealing, really bad presentation, and just overall not better than Gran Turismo in any sense.

Anyway... while Turn 10 is busting their heads trying to do everything at once just to say they got everything at once... PD is moving on with its vision of Gran Turismo, not caring at all about the volatility of competition - which will indeed secure the success of another great sequel.

If you're going to accuse me of anything, get your facts straight. THIS is what I have to say about GT5.

There are several good racers out for various formats. As much as I dislike Monopolysoft - to put it mildly, I'm not going to say that Forza is a bad game, just very poorly built and thought out in parts, and farming out work to third world countries hasn't served T10 well, let me say. But as a game, it's fun, and depending on tastes, simmy enough. You get a little more accuracy in some aspects with Ferrari Challenge/etc and Shift 2, and a little more pro "raciness."

PC sims are different enough in flavor that it serves millions of fans well who want a taste of real world racing, and even with fantasy cars and tracks, Live For Speed is an amazing game, if a bit overpriced for what little content you get and a wheel model that's a work in progress.

GT5 is weird, I've never said otherwise, and in the early days I grouched with a number of other naysayers about such oddball things as a paint shop with no paint to speak of and an XP system which is unnecessary. There are no new grouches recently discovered, everyone has their list of things they want PD to change or fix. But as a sim, it's so close to my PC sims that they seem stale in comparison. The physics are better in the sims, but not enough for me to miss them at all. It's more than made up for in giving me several HUNDRED cars of all kinds I want to collect, paint and drive. And yes, race against bots offline. And PC sims are so varied in what they offer as far as realism, you can't honestly call any of them realistic either.

Now if this assessment makes you sadface, oh well. I'm pretty sure the reason I'm in this universe has nothing to do with making you happy.

As for the silly claim that if you don't like other racers, you're some kind of thoughtless luddite, that's just as thoughtless. Gran Turismo offers a few things in a unique package that nothing else does, save for a copycat competitor. And that copy does offer a few outstanding things that makes fans race it and no other as well. Are they narrow-minded tards? It depends on the individual, and how firm a grasp they have on the factors they find full of win. Maybe Forza 4 will be the real deal, but as I said, I've been down that track three times already so I'm not exactly squirming with anticipation. I'd just like to paint up some race cars and save some pics without having to jump through ridiculous hoops. And I'm sure not going to drop GT5 even if FW4 is full of awesome sauce. The feel and flavor of both games is just too different.

You got to admit though D. To paint some cars there are hoops to go through.

Fascinating thread though.

^^^ Well, I'm not a ignorant folk. And in this particular environment FM4 looks great. But hey did you saw a gameplay with Mclaren F1? It's cockpit (detail, hands animation, shadow definition, shaders/materials) is weird. Even Shift 1 has done it 10 times better than what I saw from FM4 videos.

PD has a big knowledge of how make a game looks stunning and realistic at the same time. IBL won't help Forza too much. And I say this not to defennd GT - it's like a clear fact to me. I love graphics and if there any game who provided it - I'm just fall in love with it (as much as game is good). Now it's only one enviornment I like from all FM videos. Game-play videos are not impressed me at all! Seriously! Not to blame Forza - I'm just really, really believe in my perception :)

I'm actually thinking of selling off the PS3, DFGT and games to fund a Fanatec CSR for my Xbox..
Apart from 'Ring TT's, I have very little interest left in GT5 and it seems that most, if not all cross platformers are better on the 360. Then of course, there's FM4.

I guess it's only blu ray keeping us together lol...

Oh, it's a drop GT5 thread, not drop PS3 altogether haha. Oh well, in for a penny..

Would you buy me a Xbox so I can drop? :P
Other than that, only if there are bugs on the floor that need to be smashed.

(part based on hearsay removed)

Tell me how GT5 isn't exactly that.

What exactly is PD's vision of Gran Turismo?
It's not a simulator of anything, it's not an arcade game, it doesn't have a full "career" mode, and it's "arcade" mode isn't even half-assed, more like 1/8th.
What is PD trying to achieve with the GT series lately? I honestly have no clue, aside from continuing to make money, I see no "vision" of Kaz's or anyone else at PD's, because the game can't make up it's mind what it is supposed to be. It wants to be a simulator, but cannot simulate anything apart from solo practice laps, it doesn't want to be arcade, but feels it has to for less-skilled players, it wants great graphics, but between PD, Sony, & the PS3, it only manages that sometimes, what apart from driving by oneself can GT5 offer that is great?

When PD finally figures out what they want the game to be, it may return to awesome, but they have to figure out what GT is (again) first.

This.

Even with all that said, I don't plan on dropping GT5 :D

Same here.

I did check "maybe" because if I can get the money to buy a box, wheel, and FM4, I will, it just doesn't mean I'll "quit" GT.

when gt6 comes out, anyone else hear the rumor that pd is gonna add code from tourist trophy and add tracks and bikes?? to gt5, i figure with karts bikes make sense but if you can fall off a bump online from a car would even the odds lol.

Noone ever questioned the level of quality in the photomode, so why post a video?

No one ever stated that was photo mode. So why post that it is?

DEATHSARTHE
The poll looks like a certain hand gesture I would give to Microsofts imitation game!

Yes. A poll taken in "Gran Turismo Planet" in the "Gran Turismo" forum doesn't have any bias at all.

Half of the people in this thread probably don't even have an XBOX.

Post the same poll at Forza Central or Forza Motorsport and see what kind of response you get.

For a level playing field post the poll at a site such as Inside Sim Racing.

Little common sense goes along way.

Oh Lord. Why did I waste all this time practicing in this pseudo-simulator thinking that it was going to help me become a better racer? Oh well, I guess I have to practice in a real car then. I'm dropping this ish.

BAM! 👍

Ps: I been dropped Gt5 and the Ps3 three months ago lvl26 Aspec. I just had enough. Went back too fm3 and f1 2010.
Now Fm4 around the corner..

I mean how can anyone not love Jezza talk 🤬 about cars? :D

I have both consoles so I definately won't be dropping GT5 just because FM4 is coming out in 3 weeks or so. I'm very excited, of course but that doesn't mean I don't love GT5, too 👍

I have the XBOX & XBOX360 and PS1, 2, & 3 along with GT1 thru 5 and all the Forza titles. Why drop when you can play both? I understand the "can't afford both" argument,
but why be a hater or a fanboy? Just play both, if you can, and enjoy. If you have one but not the other, there's always Santa Clause! LOL ... jk!

Both titles have there strong points and weak points. But honestly I dont play the games and look for something to bitch about or do comparisons. I just play and enjoy it. If I want a super realistic experience, I drive down to Kershaw or Road Atl and pay for a couple of laps. THATS REAL! A video game isn't and I dont expect it to be.
