Question: I initially signed up with McLaren in th he mfg races around update 1.06 time. I went into the Mfg Race area tonight and had me sign up with a Mfg again, why did this happen ? After I did sign up this time with Dodge I didnt get any notification that I was already with another Mfg and went to my garage and found out that the McLaren's were gone.
I thought Mfg contacts were for a year ?
No, they're for the current manufacturer championship that's active (I think they continue to run after one ends until another begins, but yes for the sake of clarity they run for that championship alone).

We're in a new manufacturers championship now so you can select a new brand to drive for.

Suzuka was good fun. I buckled and bought the Atenza. Top split in slot 2, ranked 7 in the lobby. Q8 after failing to find a rhythm. Only 0.2s between Q4 and Q9.

Everyone made it through the first lap unscathed. Lap 3 p7 ran wide at turn 1 and I gained a spot. 2 laps later I had caught p6 and he got the entry to Spoon wrong. As I moved to exit on the inside he jinked left and I lightly tapped his rear. 1 second penalty for me. On lap 6 the penalty saw a Silvia catch me and I was back to P8. The next 2 laps were spent watching p5-7 battling and hoping they would slow each other down. On the final lap the Atenza who had been holding down p5 completely flubbed the esses and at the hairpin I was on his inside. He braked a bit early and turned in as Iwas braking. I eased off and let him hold the place as I couldn’t tell if I had dived or not. He then made a mistake at Spoon and I got beside him on the inside up the back straight. Kept it neatish through 130R and Casio to hold p7. 204 points. One and done.

GTWS Manufacturers Cup Test Season 2 - Round 8
McLaren GR. 4 - Lago Maggiore
GT1 League - A+/S room

Slot 1 - Lobby opens up and again I was in a lobby with @GTWolverine. I was feeling for him as the Bette was worse than the McLaren saving fuel and the McLaren wasn’t a champ. I managed to push across the line with a 56.6xx and Q7. I was behind a Silvia to start the race and had an NSX and a Megane behind me. So, I was in a rare mixture of cars. Unfortunately I pushed to hard to try and get into the slip of the Silvia and cot a little too much fuel in the beginning making for a way to competitive ending and a hard fought P7.

Any chance of rain in yours? I thought they might have chucked this in to mix things up here

So 🤬 annoyed with myself! 🤬🤬

Qualified P1 for the first time ever on online racing. Beat second place by 0.013.

Race started and that was it! Made a mistake as soon as the race started. Forgot to upshift. Managed to hold onto first and was first all the way up to spoon corner. At spoon and braked a meter too late hit the astro on the outside and that was it game over. Managed to keep hold of 7th heading up to 130r and then at the chicane got punted hit P6 got a 4 second penalty and that was it my head was raging. Tried to recover but I was pushing too hard by now and making too many mistakes and ended up 20 seconds behind the leader. Ended up quitting on L2. Annoying thing too is I can’t do the other slots.

Bring back the 4pm (gmt) time slot!!!

Nothing felt right about this at all going in. I don't know if it's the group 4's around here or what but I never felt comfortable lapping at what is usually one of my favourite, and among my stronger tracks.

It was between the Atenza and the GT-R for cars and I felt I could push more in the Nissan and it isn't the meta so that was my choice here.

Managed to qualify it 5th to my surprise, which should teach me about comparing my times to my friend list which is full of higher tier drivers than I am, and to have a bit more confidence in my own times going forward.

Lap one was a stinker it has to be said. Picked up a 1 second penalty going into the hairpin as the car in front just seemed to pick a random point to brake which I'll take on the chin as I should have left more space here but I was eyeing a possible move. This put me back down to 7th going into lap 2, where a greek lunged into turn 1 and almost spun me off but I saved the backend and pulled it round. There's one line through turn 1 usually, like Eau Rouge, the risk to reward factor isn't usually worth just chucking it in like that.

Just couldn't find the groove at all at this point but I did have some space so tried to get my head down and grind the laps out. Not until lap 5 and 6 did I start seeing progress here and while there were no other incidents I did manage to shake off a very quick pole when my laps came together and a couple of spinners put me back in 5th, all that to get back where I started.

We did get a hell of a display from the lighting and cloud tech here as the sun went down in Japan, very impressive and enjoyable especially driving into spoon as the track got darker and darker.

Unlucky mate, nothing worse than when the red mist has descended, it's race over at that point.

Daytona tomorrow, come back and smash that.

Good consistent going at Suzuka gr4 Nations Cup rd.8 race. A bit of an Atenza one make race, but seems like that car handles better now compared to GTS, where I felt like it had too much understeer.

No mistakes really, struggled a bit in first half of the lap in terms of pace. But pace was pretty good at the hairpin, spoon curves and 130R. 7 decent championship scores set then, happy days 🥳

After I wasn't able to race yesterday in manufacturers, I gave it a try again for today's nations cup race in Suzuka.
Missed the first two slots. About 20 minutes before slot 3 I started the game, bought the BMW Group 4 and gave it some practice.
I was not able to get any pace out of it. Never managed to get anything below 2:10...
Went into the qualifying session and managed a 2:09.7, but was only P13 out of 14.
I lost that place during the race and finished last, but I believe it was P12 after people quit.

Only then I decided watch the replay of a top 10 result with it, and immediately realized my mistake.
The M4 is slow when revved high. It's a lot quicker short shifting.

Did a practice lap with that ghost and immediately jumped up to a 2:08.5, almost two seconds quicker... Damn. At least that explained the lack of pace 😅

Race two went better, although still not ideal. Qualified in P9 with a 2:09.1.
Got up to P6, but made several errors in lap 6, dropping me back to P9 and a 1 sec penalty.
That's where I stayed for 209 points.

Then I also went in the last slot.
Black screen after the warm up... After patiently waiting for exactly 10 minutes qualifying finally started, but we went down from 16 to 11 players. Also the time of day progressed during that time, so by the end of the race it was pretty dark.
Managed to get pole with a 2:08.7. Good result, but was lucky as I had two guys right behind me with less than a tenth of a second to spare, and my ideal time could've been a 2:08.5

Managed to keep on to P1 early on and then got lucky again as P2 and P3 started to fight and made some errors. From then on it was only a question of me not binning it altogether, something I quite often do in situations like this.
But I managed to hold on and got my first race win in a nations cup race in a long time, I suspect the last time was when I was still not ranked properly in early GT Sport times.

The race got me 295 points. Happy and a very good result, even though my past races offered a bit more for the winner.

Here is the footage of the last race (at the time of writing Youtube is still processing the HD version):

This race was almost a one make event, given how OP the Atenza is.

This race also showed just how childish and dirty some can be (although the worst of it was in qualifying). I made most of my positions if not all of them through a combination of other drivers making mistakes, or the dirty driving that infected the lobby last night.

Had a couple of cracks at Suzuka last night for the Nations Cup (GT2). First run was in old reliable the Subaru, qualified 10th after an average qualifying session, seems like in the first lap a few people forgot it's not wreckfest and caused a bit of carnage through the esses, two positions picked up through the penalties, then settled into a rhythm and started catching the Mazda in front noticing he was really understeering in the last few laps...got a good run out of the hairpin but couldn't capitalize and ran out of room and talent through spoon, waited till he came back on and followed him over the line.

Race 2 I decided that I'd join the Meta Mazda squad, missed out on pole due to me cutting the last chicane, started alright and moved my way up to 2nd...and then the handling went away (think it has something to do with tyre temp) and started making errors and allowing the pack to catch me...then started a battle royal with a 86 and a Corvette. The little 86 was all over me in the corners but could get away down the straight. Had to drive pretty defensively, but with no contact, made him try the outside line at the hairpin a couple of times. Luckily the Corvette got a super run out of spoon on the last lap which got them side by side through 130R and gave me some breathing room into Casio to give me 3rd and 117 points.

With dropped scores that puts me into 5th in Oceania GT2 and keeps me in 2nd for NZ

Thanks to my 2 terrible results in the last Manufacturer's race, I apparently dropped enough DR to not be in Top Split for the first time all season in Nation's. I made the most of it in qualifying by setting a lap over 0.1s quicker than my best FP lap to stick it on pole with a 2:09.0. Unfortunately that was definitely a halo lap, because I did not have the race pace to go with it. After a couple laps, I lost the lead to a pass going into the final chicane, then got on the power too early and nearly spun it, handing 2nd place over as well. A little later, the leader then ran wide and slid into the wall in the Degners, giving me back 2nd place. I was then caught rapidly by a BMW who sent it up the inside at Spoon and ran us both off track, allowing the former leader that slid off earlier to catch back up. The BMW gave the spot back and I was back up to 2nd - until I cut the first Degner too much and gave myself a half-second penalty. After that I fell down to 4th and struggled to keep on the tail of those in front. The BMW then completely spun at the exit of Degner 2, giving me back 3rd place again, which is where I finished for 252 points. That makes it 2 consecutive podiums in Nation's. While I'm happy with the result, I'm a bit annoyed that I still lost positions in order to get there.

Why are these called 'test' seasons? Are these just trials for an actual competition?
Well if things fall into place like last year, that’s correct. I have heard that there may not be a partnership with the FIA so that’ll be interesting if it’s true. Only time will tell that one though.

To be honest. The partnership with the FIA doesn't really matter. Polyphony can run the online series without it.

Saturdays Manufacture I was sceptical of tbh, but i rocked up in my GR4 pug and actually gave the 4wd cars a run for their money. As you can imagine i was losing out at the wee hairpin but all in all went from 8th to 5th. Not bad considering im A and it was a majority A+ lobby. I took my points for 5th and ran away!
Sundays nations, I had to buy the Atenza and was no where in qually, then popped in a lap to take 3rd on the grid. The race was going ok (1st left and was never seen again), holding steady in 3rd for most of the race and then i binned it on the last lap coming out the 2nd degner.. ran wide and that was it... got home in 6th. Bit gutted with that!

The last round of the Manufactures Cup looked like an easy one for me. The 2018 Ford GT in Daytona was a match made in heaven as I managed to set a time around 1:47. What didn't go to plan was how fuel-thirsty the car was!

Thinking that the Fuel Consumption rate was only 3, I didn't worry that much and went to fuel mapping 2-3 throughout the first race. It didn't go so well considering the fact that I had to refuel on the last lap, causing me to drop to dead last from P6.

I tried to go with the fuel mapping approach with 3-4 and it kinda worked, it was a bit slower than the rest of the field but it was just enough to make it to the whole race. Then, I was disconnected due to my internet connection.

Throughout the whole Manu. Cup, Ford was an interesting choice. But if the Mustang Gr.4 is as useless against the whole of Gr.4 and the 2018 GT with its rear tire and fuel wear trying to end me, I feel mixed driving those things.

The "Bus Stop" section of Daytona can eat its own penalty zone.

Round 9. Daytona. 3rd Slot Asia. Aston Martin.

After a couple of practice sessions in the Vantage it was very clear it would be wildly uncompetitive here. It is so slow in a straight line.

I was expecting to skip it until I had an epiphany this morning. Why not buy the DBR9 and see if it’s quicker. Within 6 practice laps I had turned a high 48 into a mid 46.

Lobby loaded and I was about mid ranked and the only Aston on the grid. Qualifying was good and I nailed Q4 without slipstream. A Pug VGT took pole.

I hadn’t done any fuel or tyre testing so decided to watch fuel consumption in the first few laps and devise a strat on the fly.

By the end of lap 1 the 4 of us at the front had cleared out and I was convinced I would be able to no stop with some limited short shifting.

At the hairpin on lap 2 I got by the WRX in 3rd and then got past P2 on the run to the bus stop.

On lap 4 I got by the Pug at the hairpin and started to worry I had miscalculated as it seemed way too easy to build a gap. By lap 8 I was 4.5 seconds ahead and slightly under 50% fuel used.

For the last 8 laps I concentrated on keeping it tidy and trying to maintain a 4 second gap as the Pug had clearly decided to wind it up.

By the start of the final lap I was 4 seconds ahead with 1.2 laps of fuel and only slightly worn tyres.

I got super nervous about making a mistake and almost got it wrong in the bus stop, but held it together to cross the line for the victory 3.5 seconds ahead of the Pug.
258 points and I think it will be enough to get me top spot in Asia for Aston.

And just a word of warning, the sun comes up towards the end of the race and it is so beautiful it’s easy to get distracted by the scenery.

Round 9 Daytona, What's everyone's plan for pit strategy?

I'm with BMW and the M6 is just a boat. I was thinking using the Z4M GT3 like I did in Monza and see if the laps with short shifting will help.

Can you tune cars for these races?
Some races allow tuning. This upcoming Nations Cup race (Yamagiwa with the Lancer Evo, WRX, and GR Yaris) allows it, but with a horsepower and weight limit.

Don't use the Yaris; it's a death trap, even with a tune.

Took two tries but I got the result I was looking for.

Doing my usual GT yo-yo between C and B tiers I'm back in C for this one so I was confident of being able to push at the front.

1st slot - Qualy went horribly. I had two great laps down but picked up penalties on the exit of the bus stop both times and had to settle for 13th. Race started and everyone went barrelling into turn 1, each corner was getting hit from behind under braking and after being nudged off into the wall at the the exit to the oval and sitting stopped and dead last, decided to cut my losses and quit out.

Went and watched some Idiots of the Week on Youtube to get some laughs and some perspective, came back calmer and relaxed again.

2nd slot - Really focused in qualy and pushed for a top 5, just getting edged out to 6th place for the start of the race.

1st lap and everyone around me makes it through the first corner and are far more respectful braking into turns as we go around.

Got a great run off the exit onto the oval on lap 1 and passed a Lancer on the outside banking, super NASCAR feeling, loved that. Managed to pick up another position heading into the bus stop on lap 2 as two cars battled it out before an incident that had the eventual winner flashing his lights at me once I had passed; though to me, and looking back at the replay, he braked way too early for the horseshoe and it was either I run it up the inside or I smack into the back of him. I made the pass stick and in the moment I felt it was right so carried on from there. At this point I'm running in 3rd place.

I was not going for a fuel save here, just run it until it was empty and see where the cards fell.

By lap 5 2nd place had binned it somewhere and I hadn't realised until the little notification came up to say I passed so into the chase for the lead we settled though 1st place was a good 10 seconds up the track and running quick laps.

Once the pits were done for us the leader had fallen back to mid-pack and two cars had gone out front without stopping, fair play I wasn't expecting that from a C lobby and while 2nd place managed to bin it again and let me through, I wasn't able to catch the light flasher from earlier but I'm happy to take 2nd. I feel like I drove really well, no mistakes, no issues and come away from that having enjoyed Daytona very much since its introduction to GT.

(Sorry for the ramble)
