When it will launch on consoles, will it be like a "complete edition" with all DLC they've pumped out for the PC? Or just a bare bones vanilla version with DLC down the line?

As far as I know, it will have all the content released for the PC version to date, including DLCs.

The next step is another licence announcement

Then 1.4

Then 3 tracks and 30 cars

Then 1.5

Console release.

PRC.net ran an article today saying that 505 Games (the publisher for AC on consoles) is trying to turn AC into a cash grab. Basically they won't release a complete working game, and if fans complain they will be told to wait for AC2 (similar situation to PCARS1 & 2). The publisher itself doesn't have a great track record with games (mostly released B-titles with scores below 50 on metacritic).

I'm taking this with a grain of salt because the article is based on "a friend of a friend telling me", but I can't help getting more and more worried about the impending console release.

What do you guys think?

Please no. I just want the PS4 version to be the PC vefsion and all it's DLC. If they cut the DLC I will not be happy.

What I think is if you are going to reference an article in your post you should throw up a link to the article in question.

@LeGeNd-1 in reply to"What do you guys think?"
Pretendracecar site specialize in making mountains out of grain of sand, turning any info coming from anyone into controversy. Including this latest story from a friend of a friend. If we ignore them long enough they will eventually go back where they came from. If we encourage them by visiting their site or even worse reply to their "story" then we deserve them.

Here is the biggest problem with this for me. We are not fans we are customers. The gaming industry need to be reminded of this. Im only a fan if the game is good, if its a mess im a disgruntled customer

EDIT: Having just read the article i dont believe a word of it. They are claiming its kunos who want the cashgrab not 505 and to back up their claim they use the efforts from kunos to continuosly improve the tire model as proof. Surely that would be of the lest concern if they wanted a cash grab? why go through the effort to improve. Ridiculous article

That site is also the same site that claims Pcars 2 is definitely going to be released in June next year, based on the fact that when someone asked if that release date was true, a mod said "no" and locked the thread. They have special ways of interpreting things over there lol.

Well that's reassuring. I too have trouble believing Kunos is the sort that wants to screw customers. However, I'm still worried about the publisher. If you wiki their list of past games they don't exactly have a great track record. I know they are only a publisher and not the developer but still...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't PRC basically the sim racing equivalent of Wiki in that ANYONE can submit a story?

If they where interested in just grabbing money and not the quality of their game there would only be content added to the game not physics improvements. The content list is what sells these games on the console, not the physics. So maybe had they changed the story to read "Kunos is only adding new content with no physics improvements" there could be something to the story.

I am a (self proclaimed) comment troll there, and while anyone can submit a story, it is basically more of "Letter to Editor" rather than a wiki. I sent an email about GT6's Course Maker (at the wrong time, since it was released few days later after the article was up).

💡

So I just read said article. Basically it's a déja vu in similar vain to all the drivel they wrote about Project CARS: articles fueled by disgruntled members with a score to settle, wrapped in assumptions, wild speculation and contradictionary statements. If anything, the 'letter to the editor' proves that Kunos is on a tight schedule and has a solid business plan to maintain a revenue stream in the future. 👍

The article is actually making an argument for the opposite.

Personally, I think AC will do great on consoles. It can still profit from the 'no GT on PS4' situation and it's a solid title. I don't think it will sell as much as Project CARS, but still several times the amount of sales on PC. Since Kunos is a lot smaller than SMS, that's not necessarily a problem either. Only thing that's going to be an issue IMO is QA. Most major version numbers required at least a handful of patches to sort out all the issues. On PC those were released in the timeframe of a week or so, so no problem. On consoles they won't be able to maintain that same pace because of approval by MS/Sony (esp. MS is slow). There will be at least 2-4 weeks between each patch and that might be painful/cause a lot of fallout if it contains game-breaking issues. Then again, that's pretty much standard for any console game these days, so all will be good in the end I think. :)

But expect a lot more of that PRC drivel to show up in the upcoming months and especially around release. What they wrote about Project CARS will be a good idea of what to expect.

This is the same website that interpreted a comment on our news page as absolute fact, and are now spinning it as if they were correct because GT Sport was announced.

Case in point, they can 🤬 right off. I've removed the link regarding AC as well. Now I realize it was requested for the sake of confirmation but I'm not giving them any more traffic than they're already getting.

The best thing to do with AC on console is don't preorder. Give it a week or three after release, watch videos, read reviews and be a regular visitor to the AC forum here at GTPlanet. It really is the best way to make an informed purchase decision.

That's standard procedure for buying ANY game really. Sadly most people are easily swayed by hype and flashy trailers/screenshots (not talking about AC in particular, but gaming in general). It's even worse with pre-order bonuses and such.

Really, really agree with this, but thankfully i can't really see what they would possibly do as Pre-Order DLC or bonuses for AC? Don't seem like the company to be pulling those kind of tricks out of the bag either. Hope they leave that rubbish to EA :p

I hope so. Kunos seems like one of the more respectable developers in the business and if you look at the amount of content in AC so far they would need every single car/track to be in the game at release to compete with the big boys (GT/Forza/PCARS).

This plan here looks very solid, 100+ cars and 20 tracks with the level of care and attention they put into each assets is a very respectable number for a studio this small. Day one purchase for me as I've seen in multiple interviews the passion these guys have for their work.

Available to pre order for the PS4 on the Argos website for £32.99 with a release date of 22nd April. Not in any way official of course and always subject to change but it's not your usual online site trawling for hits type of site.
