A cople days I took the last seat of a heli, and a clan player who was flying the heli get saying get out because his clan team mate wanted the other seat. So what did the person who missed out on the last seat do, well first the heli pilot gets out.

Then his clan mate puts C4 on the heli, next he blows up the heli.

And? People are like that, they are 18, 20, even 20+ year olds yet they act like complete children.

Well some people DEPEND on the heli. It's supposed to be some vehicle you can use, not a thing to wait for all round long together with 4 more chopper whores.
The point is that you should go to another spawn point if you cant get the heli at that time, just to keep playing and supporting your team.
Hearing this...it almost seems like you do depend on the heli. And you never play with normal kits. If thats true, you should know Battlefield 2 is more ground focussed than air focussed so dont forget that playing as a soldier instead of a helicopter can be very fun too. And is much more rewarding for your team.

I DID use the chopper for close air support but that's effing impossible since the AA is so "good" that you cannot sit still for one second, and even if you are taking evasive manuevers it gets you anyways. They've completely ruined that aspect of the game and in turn has made me stopped from playing it all together, pure example of a good game gone horribly wrong by the developers.

Yeah unfortunately it seems that the 2 unlocks were for owners of SF only because there were no AT and sniper unlocks in SF Borry.

I'm kinda happy that they made the aircraft less hardcore. I never really got to use aircraft because people were always racing to get there (even though 90% of them sucked) or there's a queue (a queue!), so i've played a lot as infantry. I've seen a lot of whorish behaviour with respect to aircraft and yes it's because they are good, but possibly too good. They all need knocking down a peg and this patch will hopefully bring the knocking. A lot of the whores have cried into their pillows and said they're never going to play BF2 again because "it's unfair", well bye, maybe i'll finally get to fly a helicopter sometime soon.

Well, that's the informed word as BF2: Modern Combat's senior producer drops cryptic hints about the next Battlefield game

EA's and Digital Illusions' next instalment in the Battlefield series looks like it'll be set in the future.

Hints about a new Battlefield sequel have been dropped by Dan Blackstone, senior producer on console game Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. In a recent interview with website Shacknews, Blackstone promised that "something very big" is shortly to be announced in regard to the series and went on to offer a cryptic clue about what's to be unveiled.

"One other interviewer asked this [as in, what's next for the Battlefield series] and I gave him a hint, so it's only fair that I do the same for you: 3213/3X2. Or said another way: S.R. 4588164," Blackstone said.

Subsequent to the appearance of this cryptic clue, a couple of maths geniuses have wrestled with the numbers to reveal that '3213/3X2' works out as '2142' and that 'S.R. 4588164' (S.R. standing for 'square root') also works out as '2142'. It's virtually concrete information that EA and Digital Illusions are planning Battlefield 2142 - but of course we'll have to wait for an official word.

You know if you use someone elses account, when they give you there password. They are most likey to get there account banned, plus that is classed as cheating.

Ok I was in a game now, before the end of the rnd my score my commander score was 32 before the end of the rnd. But when the rnd ended I had 49 commander points in total, and i was not awarded the commander badge.

Close air support is dominating in real life because CAS pilots take great care to minimize risk from ground fire. Attack helicopters constantly use terrain masking to avoid getting shot down, as even small arms can be lethal to one if it were hit in the wrong place. When helios attack, they appear briefly, deploy their ordinance, and leave the fire zone as soon as they are done. As soon as a chopper crew decides to ignore the ground threat, they are dead.

In the BF pre-1.2 world, a helio could loiter for long periods of time with minimal risk. Even a modestly skilled pilot/gunner could hover stationary at a CP and take out whole squads with little risk to themselves. A good pilot who could employ the "circle of death" technique was pretty much untouchable on a map like Sharqi. How often has the Mi-28 singlehandedly won the round for the MEC team (or the USMC if they steal it)?

Should the attack helio be the top predator on a map like Sharqi? Yes. Two skilled players working together in a vehicle should always trump any one random player. But not without some risk to themselves. When you have a situation where a chopper can loiter unopposed for long periods of time with almost no fear of retaliation except from the other chopper, then something needs to be done.

When a chopper can take a main round from a tank and have plenty of health left over to go head-to-head with it and still come out on top, something needs to be done.

1.2 will force chopper crews to adapt new tactics. They will pay heed to tanks/APCs. They will need to be concerned with static AA emplacements. They will need to be WORRIED about Linebackers (on maps where they appear). None of these concerns are unreasonable, since that's what helio crews worry about in real life.

A good crew will learn to take out Stinger sites. A good crew will learn to respect ground fire from armor. A good crew will learn to never hover for more than a few seconds. What I see is that the patch will separate the truly talanted attack helio crews from the mediocre ones.

Guys help me.

I didn't know wich version to really download as I forgot if I had installed 1.12 before (I probably did) but just to be sure I downloaded the full version of 1.2. Now I tried to install it but it didn't work anymore after that. If I would click BF2 it wouldn't open, the screen would go into the small BF2 screen when it's loading as usual, then the screen got black, and then it came back again without opening anything.

Thats not the problem yet, because I thought I had installed the wrong version. Then I did system recovery back to the point before the installation and so it began recovering the files. Then it was done and now I just tested if BF2 WOULD work now but it wont work. It says MEMORY.DLL cant be found. It doesn't even go black now anymore.

So I'm not gonna be able to install the right version, the patch, because it's gonna install on the BF2 wich doesn't work to start with? Dont tell me I gotta install that whole damn BF2 all over again

Maybe this patch that I downloaded now, the huge 300mb+ one, is able to install 1.2 on BF2 without having to install the other patches? Is that what this huge patch is for?

Then where did you get the notion that "close air support is supposed to be dominating"? If not from reality?

If the GAME has no bearing to reality, then what is 'supposed' to happen is entirely up the the designers, isn't it? Sounds like you're just upset because the designers made a change that you don't like --though many veteran chopper crews don't seem to have a problem with them.

So far I'm enjoying this patch. They improved pretty much all the right things.

The P90 is ok, will take some getting used to. Nice being able to shoot people at long distance without relying on RPG/pistol, however up close its pretty crap even if you shoot people in the head with its good accuracy. I'll have to stop running up to people like a madman (as I did with mp5/dao) Still got 1 unlock left, but theres no gun I really want, so I might save it as my next rank is miles away.

The USMC tank now seems to get damaged when it hits tiny bumps

Fine no realism but I mean now the AA COMPLETELY owns the air, because before yes the choppers were dominating but tbh I found it relatively easy to shoot down a chopper, I do not know what was wrong with anyone else. Choppers were relatively easy to shoot down then, now it's like the damn things have no place in this game! They should have skipped the hassle of recoding everything and just delete the goddamn things.

Well i've only used the PKM once since the patch and i got killed using it, so i guess so far i'm not overly keen on it. However that's hardly fair and i've heard it has been improved. Will have to give it another try.

RO_JA: Yes the air units have been screwed over a little, ain't denying it, but there's no point banging on about it. Try using your feet for a while.

Good tip fire it in short bursts, but I love using the iron sight on it.

Yeah apparently you can out-snipe snipers with it which is a tad crazy. I got killed in CQC unfortunately. It doesn't seem to perform too well at close range.

Well ever since I haven't been able to play online I can't test my new unlocks. If you're so upset about the game Jabba I'll gladly take your CD key off your hands...maybe it would make my game work again. :\

I unlocked the PKM and P90, but haven't had a chance to use them due to my problem with a cd key. *cough*

I do like the idea of helis being weaker though! Finally the AA is actually useful, and there's no stupid constant circling helicopters! But basically I have gone back to CS so I haven't been able to laugh at all the heli whores in game yet.

I need to start playing again, but my old ball mouse is beyond cleaning. I need a new one. Unless anyone can give me tips on cleaning it.

The two main rollers are clean, the corner one is dirty but not too bad. But my mouse still jams and sticks all the time. It makes BF2 almost impossible.

Personally, all you need to do is make sure you shoot the AA 1st, THEN take out other targets. Is that not hard? Instead of ramboing in, you actually have to THINK about how your going to go about it! and heaven forbid actually use some teamwork and get some ground units to help (shudder).

Its much more balanced now and BF2 is a much better game IMHO. Heli's and planes no longer rule, but they are still a great danger when flown with some brains!, just like tanks and apc's.

All of the above plus no dolphin diving, prone jumping and C4 throwing, makes this game really nice to play. Hell now i can take out 2vs1 in straight gun vs gun combats becuase they arnt jumpin round like wankers. Now it comes down to your skills with aiming and using the gun, as well as reflexes, not who knows how to mash a certain button combo so you are almost impossible to hit. Much more like Enemy Territory, which i was used to.

This patch only annoys the Whores and explioters like noob tubes and C4 chuckers.

Wow i just tried to find some PC stores in Ealing and you seem to be in short supply. Can't you pop into Woolworths or similar and pick up a cheap, corded, USB, optical mouse?
