Hey guys... been playing online over the weekend and Ive been using this Custom class with a lot of success :)

Primary: Scar-H w/ Holo scope and Grenade attachment
Secondary: AA-12 Shotgun with Red Dot sight
- Semtex
- 2x Stun Grenades

Perk 1: Bling
Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: Scrambler (Perfect for sneaky Shotgun ambushes :))

- Painkiller

Kill Streaks: 4 kills Care Package, 5 Kills Predator, 7 kills Harrier

I was using the M4 but got the feeling it was just not strong enough.... Switched over to the Scar after and had great success... 👍 I have been reading here that its a bit too powerful so I guess this is the new M16 that I used like mad in CoD 4... I remember if you had stopping power and an M16 you could kills guys with one burst... I just ran around shooting bursts like a mad man :) Can the M16 do that in MW2 as well?? I havent opened it up yet...

Yeah, I can't wait to try out the M16 & AK47. On the scrambler, I don't use it anymore. Because every time my radar is jammed, I know that there is an enemy close by. I got to think that scrambler "they" are using helps me much more than the person using it.
The AUG HBAR is basically an LMG that acts like an assault rifle. It's reload is as quick as most ARs. It's powerful and accurate (especially with a grip and Stopping Power), but it also has a decent rate of fire and isn't too cumbersome to run around the map with. You could throw Lightweight in there if you feel too slow, but I'm fine with it.

It's fine with iron sights, and once I got a red dot on there it was even better. Give it a shot.
I was temped at first, but my RPD is fully loaded. However, looks like I'm tempted again. :D

Yep using the Scar here also 👍 has the long range precision of the RPD yet much lighter to get around the maps and quicker reload time ...

Scar H / Red dot sight / Marathon Pro / Cold Blooded / Ninja

A wicked set for sure and my classes are filled with the same gun and perks with a tiny difference! each one has a different camo scheme for different maps ;) Works for me

Hoping to open the extra cartidges soon as the scar lacks in the clip size and is the only downfall with this gun imo :(

I knew there was a link with that... but the enemy can jam your radar as well right? Its one of the Kill streak bonuses if Im not mistaken...

I agree... clip size is the only drawback...

SCAR is still my main gun, but I use ACOG on mine. Since I keep my enemy at distance, reload time or clip size isn't a issue for me most of the time.

Yes, but they work differently. UAV Jammer from the killstreak reward will begin with an announcement, then hits instantly and completely. Scrambler fades in & out, so as soon as my radar gets staticky, I start operating quieter, and starts looking around for the close kill.

I see... Ok, well I'll keep using it until everyone catches on... :D Which perk do you use on that spot?

Well, completed story mode on veteran, only two achievements i had to go back and re-attempt was, 'ghost' on the cliffhanger mission and the 'Look ma two hands'.

I actually really enjoyed playing through the story mode however I found it extremely easy on veteran (compared to COD4 & especially compared with WAW)

I love the spec ops mode, i've completed 10 of the missions on veteran and a good few on hardened and just a couple on regular, i'm definately going to attempt getting 15 completed on veteran achievement and at least 1 star for everything. Has anyone seen the Spec Ops missions in ECHO though? Man they look impossible - even on regular ha ha!

I mean 15 Juggernauts on the oil rig !! I dont think i'll get that on regular, + rep to the first person to get all 69 stars!!!

After reading about the SCAR in this thread a bit, I decided to try it out for a few games, now it's my favorite gun! :p

SCAR-H with Holographic Sight + Silencer (Bling)
The pistol with the stock attached (forgot the name :dunce:)
Cold Blooded Pro
Ninja Pro
Frag + 2x Flash

And my "Bad KDR turn around" class :sly:

SCAR-H + Holo Sight
Machine Pistol
Sleight of Hand Pro
Stopping Power Pro
Ninja Pro
Frag + 2x Flash

IIRC, I'm level 37, so when I unlock the ACR I want to try that.

Chris.

Can anyone find any advantage that the holographic sight has over the standard Red Dot? Is it slightly more zoomed?

Perhaps it's because I'm on an HD TV, but I find I can aim better due to the tiny crosshair in the middle of the dot.

I wondered that myself. It seems like the crosshair is larger, which to me would actually make it a little less precise when your enemy is further away and appears really small. I've noticed I tend to suck with ACOG...All my holo classes are better for me.

Re: AUG - yep, use it for my "Heavy" class as a primary with a silencer and holo, Stingers for secondary. Its just as useful as my UMP45 usually, with less of a guaranteed kill at close range. Anyone wish they let you get extra ammo for the rocket launchers as an attachment? You only get one AT-4 round, two stingers.

And speaking of stingers, anyone else think its ridiculous that you can never hit the AC-130 with a rocket? Just fires off flares every time...

Im always in hiding when the "Spooky" (or "Spectre," dont know which one they use in the game) comes out to play :D Either that or Im blown to bits before I can even say, "huh?"

That's why I use Cold Blooded, I can stay out in the fight when the Helis and such arrive, and then I can sneak up on the enemies that try to hunt down my team who hide in a building :p

Cold Blooded Pro isn't really all what it's cracked up to be in regular games, either, even without a Red name or Crosshair I find I still get picked off because of the uniforms being so different and not showing up as a friendly on the UAV Recon. I imagine it'd work a lot better in Hardcore gametypes though, due to the fact there's no UAV and you second guess a bit before you shoot.

How do you guys shoot the SCAR? I hold down the trigger on my M4 the entire time I'm aiming at somebody. I tried that with the SCAR, and it jumped around too much. It never stayed on target, and missed all my shots after the first two. The enemy would then kill me. I found it to be more of an alert siren to the enemy, instead of a weapon.

Do you guys tap the trigger, instead of hold it down? How's the FAL compared to the SCAR? Same caliber, so I imagine it's very similar, but how are they different?

FAL is single shot, think of it like the G3 from CoD4, useful if you know how to use it, but if you don't you're toast. As far as Firing, I tap and fire short bursts instead of holding it down (My fingers got used to that with the FAL), so I'd try that if you wanted to use the SCAR effectively.

Edit: Seems a new patch is up, 1.04 (Game menus say 1.2.508.0), still trying to ind out what it's for, though a patch on Steam was supposed to improve the IWNET matchmaking service, not sure if it's the same for PS3.

I just came back to say 1.04 is out. It's the longest patch so far, so I hope the problem with 'finding host' in the middle of the game has been fixed.

I use the scar with single fire shots using L1 view for long range and it's very effective and I never really see any recoil tbh? I do however get a small bit of recoil when I'm caught face to face with an enemy whilst roaming and let loose a whole clip into them at close range without using L1! ... but steady aim comes in handy in those situations just a tad also :sly:

Oi. I'm so inconsistent. I played a game a few minutes ago where I finished something like 6-13. Then the very next match, I started the game with a 16-0 killstreak, and ended the match 17-3, easily the points leader. I need to figure out what I'm doing differently in those latter times.

Finding Host in the middle of the game is actually the intended function, it's called host migration and when one person's connection isn't good enough to host the room, the server recognizes that and fixes the problem, a lot better than the random game endings and weirdly handled host migration from CoD4.

Does anyone know what the rewards for prestige are yet?

I'm hoping that it gives you another killstreak reward, personally.

Haha, I nearly laughed out loud. That is called realism and even on this game it isnt nearly as bad as real life. You obviously started the game with the wrong gun. When I played Call Of Duty 4 I started off using an LMG with Acog, the final LMG you unlock. Cod4 was the first fps I really liked and the first game I played online on any game console. I always sprayed walls and camped in buildings and my KD went down to half (after ages it is now at .96ish) and I ALWAYS held down the trigger.

I read on the internet that a good trick with heavy recoiling guns is to tap the trigger. Now you can tap it at a fast or moderate speed depending on the gun recoil. If you are getting recoil tapping fast then you need to slow it down. So you can either tap the trigger or hold it down in small 2-3 shot bursts. I tend to do both depending on the gun. You obviously just need more practise at this game, I SUCKED when I first played on CoD4 and my stats might still show that, just hold onto the game a little longer and learn all the little tips and tricks from us, most of us are really good experienced players:tup:.

I dont know what the reward is either but more kill streaks would be cool.

I think I'm about done with this game. I was just killed about 10 by a guy with akimbo Glock 18s that were way more accurate than my FAMAS at long distances. I'm not saying I'm Mr. Accuracy, but I had my sights on him and the little X telling me I'm hitting him but he still killed my across a hanger, multiple times.

To me this game was a huge let down online, well all the CODs were. I'm tired of the people who just spray and pray and the random or impossible deaths. Some days I do really good but other days I can't even move without being sprayed down by someone who isn't really even aiming. But, thats how every war game has been and ever will be :indiff:

But, thats how every war game has been and ever will be :indiff:
Just as I was about to comment I read that. You are entirely correct. I do bad some sessions aswell but thats how it is, you can end up versing smart 25+ year olds with brains or stupid spraying kids aged 10. I am only a kid myself but I still get frustrated at the smaller kids, If I could just play a game with this type of online strategically with a game plan etc I would, but apparently thats not happening.

Edit: icelt, are you playing on Xbox Live or PSN? Can I invite you too?

Only on Live right now and yeah feel free to send me an invite. Unrelated, subconsciously I knew A6M5 looked familiar, once I looked it up I immediately recognized it was from my WWII modeling days as a kid. I wonder if the RAF referred to it internally as the A6M5 Zed? Not that they had any/much participation in the Pacific Theater, just thinking out loud.

Can anyone find any advantage that the holographic sight has over the standard Red Dot? Is it slightly more zoomed?

Actually, and yes I did a little field testing, the center red dot on the Holo sight is just a wee bit smaller than the RDS. However the Holo does have a larger diameter red circle around it which makes it seem bigger. And yes the Holo does have a slight zoom factor to it whereas the RDS does not. Although the tiny zoom factor pretty much makes the choice come down to preference.

Do you guys tap the trigger, instead of hold it down? How's the FAL compared to the SCAR? Same caliber, so I imagine it's very similar, but how are they different?

Unless I'm up close and personal I'm about 3/4 of the time shooting the SCAR-H in short controlled bursts. Using this method I get plenty of "long shot" point bonuses 👍.

I'm gonna tell you right now, I'm pretty sure Solid Lifters knows a little bit about how much recoil real guns have. :D

I'd expect real-world experience to transfer to a shooter, then...

It's not as easy as it sounds though. Some aspects of the game, they are pretty realistic. But the game is very arcadey overall.

Forgive me. Couple of my replies has already been answered:
I see... Ok, well I'll keep using it until everyone catches on... :D Which perk do you use on that spot?
That's a perk 3, isn't it? I have the commando, working on commando pro right now. I think I was just 4, 5 knife kills away from the upgrade.
Can anyone find any advantage that the holographic sight has over the standard Red Dot? Is it slightly more zoomed?
I asked this earlier, too. I also did a google search, but couldn't find anything. I also thought red dot was more precise, it's definitely easier to use for me. Icelt's answer makes sense to me.
That's why I use Cold Blooded, I can stay out in the fight when the Helis and such arrive, and then I can sneak up on the enemies that try to hunt down my team who hide in a building :p
I forget about that. :ouch: Next time, should I get killed, I can switch to my shinobi class(w/cold blooded perk), or if I already am using that class, I can actually use that to my advantage.

It's a bit weird on recoil. Sometimes, it has zero recoil, sometimes, excessive recoil. Either way, many people compare this gun to the M16 in CoD4, because of its top notch stopping power. Just a short burst should take the enemy down, even without the stopping power perk. You definitely shouldn't hold down the trigger. If you break up your shot into 2, 3 short bursts, you can easily take out the snipers, etc., you can barely see. Even in close range, you should shoot in short bursts, so you'll have enough ammo in the clip for the friend he brought along.

Actually, that is one of the greatest features added for this game. In CoD4, when the host disconnected(I call it ran away crying), the match ended instantly. With this in-game host migration feature, I can actually continue on with the killstreak. In CoD4, I'd be in a mega slump. Every game, I'm just repeatedly getting kicked in the very sensitive area. Finally, I get seven kills in a row in like first minute, maybe two, as soon as I call in the chopper, the game ends, because the host(on the other team, of course) ran off. Happened countless times on CoD4. :guilty:

It could be you too, but my opinion on that is you adjust your game to how the other team play.

Interesting. I'm gonna have to look that up. 👍

So has the invite system been fixed? I'm trying to invite a mate to my party but it keeps failing...
