@ Breakpoint:
Thanks for the heads up pal. 👍 I've been disappointed with the M16 in MW2 because of the spread, especially at medium to long range, I will have to test it with the holographic sight to see if it is any better.
As for the test in the video which alleges that the M16 is more accurate than the FAMAS, I think it is flawed for two reasons, and the tester failed to try a further test. I will explain below.
The first mistake the tester failed to elude to was the fact that the FAMAS and the M16 have slightly different rates of fire. This important because from my experiment with both guns, I have found that in a single 3 round burst, the FAMAS is super accurate, but the accuracy falls with subsequent bursts. So repeatedly firing a gun in the way the tester did would appear to show the FAMAS being less accurate than M16, when if used conservatively, the FAMAS out strips the M16 hands down.
The second failure, that is also linked to the first failure that the tester failed to take into consideration, is recoil. Both guns have very different levels of recoil. The FAMAS, I would say, has a slightly higher recoil than the M16 because of its higher rate of fire, so again, repeatedly firing the gun would not give you an accurate test.
Another mistake the tester made, was not to test both guns with a silencer. Silencers can dramatically change the way a gun fires, beyond just silencing the weapon. A favourite trick of mine on COD4 was to equip the AK47 with a silencer, because it reduced significantly the muzzle climb that was all to prevalent if you fired the gun without one. The same is true with a silencer equipped in MW2, the FAMAS is even more accurate than without a silencer. The accuracy of the M16 also improves with a silencer, but it is still nowhere near as accurate as the FAMAS.
One last thing, you have to remember too, that both the FAMAS and the M16 are not supposed to be fired in the manner the tester did. They are burst fire weapons for a reason, your supposed to pick each shot, not fire them 'willy nilly'. Also, IRL, if my memory serves me correct, the M16 was originally a fully automatic weapon, but because of the tendency of soldiers in Vietnam to fire off all rounds at once, it was changed to a burst fire weapon.
Back to MW2, I got the FAMAS to FALL in a little over 40 levels on my first prestige, so I know that gun inside out. Admittedly, I don't know the M16 as well, but that was because I was not happy with the bullet spread when fired. As I have said, I will test out the holographic sight when I get time, but in all honesty, it would have to be a revelation for me to swap from the FAMAS to the M16. 👍
