Volvos come from Sweden. Sweden, being the only place in the world that it snows in more than in Canada. So I assume that they know a little about building cars for sowy conditions and thus know that AWD is not nescescarry for snowly climes. You just need to know how to drive in snow. AWD is not an angel from heaven to guide you through snowy conditions.
And yes, every car can get stuck in the snow. Volvos get stuck. Hummers get stuck. Hell, you can get a tank stuck in the snow if it's deep enough. But if your going out bogging through snow, AWD is not going to help you very much if the snow is higher than your car's front bumper.
