It's definitely improved GT5's realistic sense of speed. I love it!👍 Much better than blurring the world around you, as in other popular racing games.

...I don't actually remember having that in FM3 either, don't think there is to be honest.

That's because Forza doesn't believe in bumpy roads.

To anyone complaining: I'm quite sure a racecar doesn't ride completely smooth at speed and the bumpiness is what drivers go through. At top speeds every minute change in elevation on the track translates to bumpiness.

Talking about the cockpit camera view, I personally quite like the "Zoom" view cuz the dash is a lot bigger and looks like it's the proper view from the driver's eyes~

What do you guys think?

I think it's excessive, as well. Maybe part of it is that I'm on a 60hz TV, I think it'd be better on a 120 TV.

The only time I've ever experienced vibration bad enough to affect my driving was in a Skip Barber formula car at Laguna Seca, coming down the hill into turn two, where the combination of speed and crosswind was strong enough to shake my helmet around pretty badly.

Hi, the shaky camera is not realistic how pd realise. Into real by point of view we see only the near border line shackying! into GT5 all border lines shake..and cause a great bad sense of washing machine

Does anyone here like the "Zoom" view from the cockpit? i.e. the dash looks a lot bigger but you lose a bit of side views?

I find that Zoom-ed view pretty much close to what I see on my real car as a driver

I use the maximum amount of zoom if I'm using cockpit view. It really is the most realistic for me. And it allows me to see the most too.

The shakiness can be a little overdone at some points, but I've honestly never been in, say a mclaren f1 modified to race going 170 mph. So I can't truly comment on the shakiness.

I like what it does to convey the speed though. I feel it is really effective and I like it.

Ice isn't smooth at all when your driving on it, Mr. Louisiana.

So much better, this is one of the few cockpit views that are done correctly. It's not like rFactor where you have no spine and jar up and down, but it isn't like Forza where you dont move at all.

You head doesn't vibrate and move like that, sure you get movement, but what you see "in game" is more reminiscent of the view through a camera afixed to a solid fixing (rollcage etc), rather than what you see through your eyes.

I am not saying it doesn't make it feel more exicting, I guess it does, but to say its realistic is wrong.

But your eyes/brain compensates it. And that is not possible here. So actually it is pretty unrealistic.

Actually it is used to make it more immersive into the driving than anything.

Actually the movement they are presenting is the movement you experience on track and on road only slightly exagerated - your eyes should still be the ones compensating.

Unfortunantely your entire TV and living oom are not going to bounce around like your car and head would, so they are moving the view port to provide that movement for you. It is an effective way to simulate the real movements you and the car undergo.

What they need to add is a look-to-apex feature as well to help bring home the moving viewport you present yourself when you move your head inside the car.

Seriously how can you tell the difference in the framerate when it's as far as I have read doesn't drop below 59 fps in perfect conditions to slowing down when there are particle effects being tossed around like rain and water spray. You might need to turn on flicker reduction in the options, I have never noticed a frame rate hit when in cockpit view as opposed to bumper cam. Sounds like you are just assuming this because the system is rendering the visuals, but that wouldn't make sense as the code was built to run with the cockpit enabled at the same FPS as when not in cockpit view.

People who seems to be getting headaches from this might have a bigger problem as you might need to avoid this view. Headaches from watching something shake? Might need to not play this game when you are tired or sleepy.

I like it; though I agree your eyeballs don't shake in real life (except on a washboard gravel road maybe) and sometimes makes it seem out of focus (a tiny bit).

I agree should be optional for those that want to turn it off-just wait for the fix in __years and __ months; or as Kaz says 'soon'

Go back to GTP5 and do a few laps in cockpit. The difference is clear. Sooo much smoother and clearer. The graphics take a hit in this view now.

I'm telling you that in playing the game there is no graphical hit whether you are in cockpit or bumper cam, unless you are playing in the rain and there are particle effects being processed. You're attempting to compare two different products, one without many things implemented and one with. Go read DF write up on the changes to GT5 which obviously causes it not to be as solid as GT5P. Still your comparison is pretty flawed as the frame rate difference in negligible when playing the game. If the 1 to 2 FPS change is causing you problems, I suggest you never play an NFS game. Might put you into cardiac arrest.

I may be from the South but even I know that a road frozen with ice, not snow or crushed ice, feels smoother than asphalt or concrete, or any type of roadway, without the frozen surface. Or go drive on a frozen Lake.

And fyi, our bridges do freeze in the winter time here quite often. Humidity is always high and it drops below freezing many times out of the year north of Lake Ponchartrain. It doesn't create the black ice everytime but we do experience it. Nowhere near what northerners experience but, you know.

Anyways, my point was that I like the new shaky one better.👍

I think people might be underestimating just how lowered ride height, stiff suspension and high speed translate into a certain lack of ride comfort in the cockpit. Keep watching the full video, it gets even more intense in places than it is at the start. I'm not a biologist but I'm pretty sure that you would need to evolve some kind of eye gyroscope to smooth out that amount of motion.
