It is a super Corvette, supposedly with upwards of 600hp, more exclusive than the Z06. Faster than any Porsche, and a few Ferraris if all is well. :D

(Note : this is all speculation on my part, maybe the topline Ferraris and the Porsche GT3 could beat it....)

IF it ever will see the light. the previous SS/Stingray/whatever was a scam by winding road e-mag..

No, there was a black GM test mule spotted out in the Deserts of Arizona and Nevada before. Check the Blue Devil Thread for the majority of the story dating back to the origional confirmation of the car's existence in May of last year.

The supercharger setup seems to be confirmed, and it appears to be fairly assimilar to the setup seen on the V-series Cadillacs with the supercharged 4.4L Northstar V8.

...Hopefully we find out shortly...

It is a powertrain mule, so keep in mind that all but the engine and exhaust could be very different on the production model. I don't think they would label the actual car as the powertrain mule.

Both of those setups (but the Vette's particularly) remind me of a design Allen Engineering has been making for 4.6 Fords since the late 90s, with the blower pushing up through the intercooler. I am pretty sure they pioneered that configuration--and it's a brilliant, compact, efficient, and quiet design.

Despite all this power etc. i suppose its still made out of plastic?

Price per performance ratio I dont think this car will make a big a splash as the Z06 did. I dont think giving it a extra 100 or so horses will make it all that much faster round a track than the Z06.

plastic, glassfibre, all the cheap stuff which explains the low price in US.
And a balsa wood floor (I'm not kidding :sly:)

Actually the aluminum/balsa wood floor is the lightest material GM could make with the strength needed. Vette's aren't fiberglass anymore, because it will never pass crash regulations. They are still plastic, just more advanced polymers.

And the Z06 has carbon fiber fenders. The paint on them weighs more than the fenders themselves.

The Vette has a cheap interior but it is not made of cheap materials.

Ok so we know it's getting the supercharger. no suprise there really. a worked over NA LS7 would have been awsomeness but this i'm sure is more reliable. but what i'm most interested in is what the supercharger is bolted to. looks like a "small block" to me. thats a very good thing. now, just for fun, who wants to take a stab at what it's displacement will be? :D

Hey, what do you guys say to the idea of keeping this thread on topic? :D

This isn't a thread to debate hypothetical battles between cars in the works and this isn't a thread for discussing (or flaming) the Porsche vs Z06 battle.

So, please keep this on subject (SS test mule) and please consider going to the cars in general forum and starting a "911 RS vs Corvette Z06" thread.

Hope that helps to keep this thread on subject.
