Happy Monday everyone!! It’s pouring here this morning so I don’t have to be to work until 9/10am when it’s supposed to stop. Man I miss having Monday’s off.
It's finally stopped raining here - enjoying a smoke in the sun before more prospective lapping.

So far, a 1.31.2 in race A with just one niggling wallscrape.... Result of 20+ laps but never really got that clean one in.

Once the penalty crap starts, it doesn't stop...
Yup, I got spanked by that last week. Qualified really well at Mt. Panorama and got a bunch of pole positions.. worked my way to B/S, halfway up DR:B and eyeing DR:A for the first time in ages. Unfortunately I got rammed off the track, by some asshat, I got the penalty, then lost my cool and made the mistake of retaliating, getting more pings, and finally quitting the race in disgust. Bad move! Ended up down in something like D:E territory very quickly, surrounded by more dickheads.

Fortunately, N24 with Group C is proving to be a good place to rebuild, so I'm back up to B/B after qualifying well in the McLaren F1 and competing in just a couple of races.

got 5 seconds for a car losing it at T1. I couldn't avoided as the front of the car was rotating towards the apex of the double apex corner. Braking in a corner at that instant, is quite complex. Not even off-throttle was going to aid me. I serve the penalty. Then, I get one for a tyre on the final chiocane curb. COming out of the corner. 1.5 seconds. ridiculous. Lost 2nd place.

This last race, I'm in a fight for 3rd. Me and the 86 go through the final chiocane. I get 1.5 seconds. At the end of the race, a TT cuts right through the chicane to try and beat the car ahead of it. No penalty at the line.

Yes. Some of the penalties for clipping walls are just nuts. You can get nudged off the track, or lose it trying to avoid another driver, slam a wall and get 5 seconds SDP in addition to having to start again from a standing start.

No question that a penalty system is excruciatingly complex to code, but the way it is today is certainly broken.

A shame they didn't pick St.Croix B Gr.4 like in the World Tour. Would have been nice using the world tour races for this week.
That would mean incorporating a bit of variety into their scheduling which seems beyond their wit. Never see St Croix, and can't remember the last time I saw Lago Maggiore. Not enough Red Bull ring, and I'd even take Catalunya which is dull for F1, but ok here.

Took the last week off from Daily Races as I thought the selection was so poor. Bought an Xbox and Forza at the weekend to give me something else to do when the daily race selection is rubbish. Looks like it'll be getting put to good use this week.

Just seen the top 10 at Suzuka this week. Couple of drivers dipped below 2.08 in EMEA. I (B/S driver) was doing low 2.10s in a variety of cars in practice yesterday - Jag and Lambo quickest for me. Last time we had a daily GR4 at Suzuka I was using the Megane. I didn't test this yesterday.

Just got the hell murdered outta me at the ring - I think @Lancer_R was in there in an F type? Looked like he had a better time than me.

Picked Hyundai for the hell of it, was 6th or so on the grid, got up to 4th by the fast section of the ring, got punted, caused 4-8 car pileup, finished in 17th or something after another lap getting punted around by a Citroen and a Porsche.

Crazy thing was how many penalties I got... 11 seconds by the end of the first lap. I got 4 seconds for the big crash, where I was trying to navigate slow traffic and got shunted on the apex.

Race C is not an SR farm this week. It's Dark Souls.

I had too much faith in PD to not use a repeated car for Race A. Oh well. I'm going to switch over and race with my wheel to at least make it more fun and interesting for me.

If you see someone in last place with a big collection of wall penalties, that will probably be me.

Do you think they intentionally pick tracks because theyre Japanese

Probably, there's been strong biases towards Japanese circuits in the past like those Suzuka, Tokyo and Fuji weeks. Suzuka appearing almost every week is a testament to that as well.

can't remember the last time I saw Lago Maggiore

PD knows this track exists unlike St. Croix, it's been used plenty of times with the Fiat 500 before. Last time was a month or so ago in the TT Cup and before that in reverse with Gr.3.

I'm ready for the ring. I qualified in the Viper SRT, the worst car from Brand's hatch, with a 8:29.4 time. Hopefully this puts me in front of the crashers yet not too far in front to get run off when I'm switching cars all the time. I should be faster in all the others.

First race, starting 4th in front of a 8:30 Porsche, 8 through 19 did not set a time. 8:16 corvette on Pole. Let the challenge begin. 35 cars, 35 x clean race bonus, how many races will it take.

Suzuka again. Do you think they intentionally pick tracks because theyre Japanese or do they just think the rest of their fantasy tracks are that bad?

I can't really say however, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the tracks have a litany of boarder or other QA issues that are known internally requiring them from being placed in the rotation.

Second attempt, starting 4th again, this time in front of an 8:44 Audi. (Brazilian :nervous:) 9th through 18th didn't qualify, same 8:16 Corvette on pole. Better no DC this time grrr. I did shave off a second of my time with the crappy Viper SRT, 8:28 now.

That went very bad. First, I have no clue where the braking point for T1 is starting in 4th. Everyone was braking in different places, I was a tad late, hit someone didn't even get SR Down... I got SR Down later when I got hit though, system works in reverse.

It looks like no stop is mandatory to do well this week. Tires are no problem, fuel saving required. I had only 0.5 laps left in the Viper, pitted in 2nd to watch the cars fly by to 6th, then stuck behind a no stop. I finished 3rd, passed the no stop and 2 more at the penalty zone. Well, not actually finished, timed out as the no stop Corvette was already a minute ahead.

Viper sucks and next race must be even slower to somehow turn 1.5 laps of fuel into two.

I think it's more of a GT7 workload issue. They likely don't have much time to devote to the Sport Mode races at the moment. If they are going to do something new, it'll likely end up as new content for GT7.

For now, just repeat the tried and true setups with minor tweaks.

ANYWAY. The RCZ is still a great Race C car this week :D

 So true about the method to qualify and switch cars each race. I was going quicker with each qualy before the race. That is until I jumped in the Vantage. Thought I made a mistake, as the thing was not turning off throttle. However, as the race got under way, it was fine.

Race 2, starting 3rd in front of 8:32 Lexus, 8:22 McLaren BMW on pole, odd. That thing was surprisingly good on fuel last I tried it. 11th through 16th did not qualify, 10 qualified!!

I was all set for victory, drafting first in the second lap, who did run out of fuel, with plenty fuel left myself. I just got into first set to sprint the rest of the way when this dirty driver ended my race.
lyUzVRK.gif

He didn't get a penalty since he made sure to go off first, and went on to win the race as the other car was the one that ran out of fuel. I got passed by another car while spun, stuck behind that one until the straight.

His profile shows another erratic SR history, not the worst, but definitely not SR.S material. I got SR Down from a draft bump as well so no clean bonus. Unfair racing for the win...

No more time for now, it's not enjoyable anyway like this.

@ 120 - 130

Probably double that :banghead:

You're never too old to make a rookie mistake. I turned on the game and looked to see what the car is for race A. Normally I don't bother with Tokyo Central, but I'm not really interested in Suzuka, and I'm just lousy at N24.
It's the Fairlady Z and I don't have one of those. Went to Brand Central and bought one. Then went to the Livery Editor and put on some nice wheels, and decal or two. Then I went to the race and got a free one to use. :dunce: . I believe I've done that 2 or 3 times. Oh well. At least it was cheap. 👍

I am happy to have FINALLY won a Sport Mode race at the Nurb 24 with the Ferrari. The last time this race featured, the Ferrari and Lambo were both maniacal. In qualifying I could barely get them out of the mid 8:20's. PD did a great job of keeping them "lively" but not pointlessly slippery.

I am sitting on an 8:17.0 Q time at the moment in my all time favourite, the Huracan! The Ferrari is pretty good on fuel. It's aided by liking a lot of the corners in 3rd rather than 2nd. I still like the RCZ the most around here because it's just so easy to keep the pace while managing fuel. Still, I expect to see more Ferrari wins this week!! Probably some Alfa wins too.

IMHO, I dislike the McLaren F1 here. I find you have to tip toe through the more technical bits and the straight line speed doesn't make up for the time lost.

The Corvette is not only good on fuel, but surprisingly towy. I was finding myself catching up from a long way off through the fast sections. At the start I had to back off because I was about to overtake the car in front before T1 but didn't feel confident enough to stick my nose in... and he greeted me nicely pre-race . After crashing off and picking up 10s of penalties the first lap and dropping back to last place, I had 0.8 laps of fuel left across the line. I decided to no-stop out of desperation not to finish last! I knew the race would time out before I ran out of fuel :p. I picked up 6s on the second lap. When the race timed out I finished not last, lost 1 SR and 800 DR. Had a good run at Bathurst last week so I'm back to visiting DR/C.
