Race A Camaro, what a blast, had time to test it for roughly 15laps. Will hunt that 1:35 time later
A q time 1:36.750 BB 3 rear. Brake early, use trailbrake and let the car slide at tight corners to help the turn. Watch out the wheelspin, use throttle to control it. :)

The Z28 is a great choice for that track.
It offers a fun challenge as well! (Also because i am a big fan of these cars, the Mustang Mach 1 being my most used.

Sardegna B is well balanced and technical, can't wait to see results and streams.

With regards to Race B, the Alfa does appear to be the quickest car in time trial, even with the updated physics model and BoP changes.
The guide below was done in the Cayman. The differences are that you can brake slightly later in the Alfa at each corner, turn more aggressively, and you can put the power down at 100% quicker.
If I have time this evening, I'll try to take the number 1 spot and create a guide in the Alfa to share with you :)

Thought I saw someone cheat at Sardegna this morning, they went off on the outside of the last couple of turns before the kink at the start of the straight and stayed off all the way along the grass making no attempt to get back on the road and hit the barrier on the right of the kink and stopped dead and paused for a few seconds. They then reappeared ahead of me down the straight.

Looking at their connection I saw they had 1 red bar, so I put this down to lag. It would make no sense that they were reset ahead, but perhaps it is a bug someone found on accident. They didn't do it on the next lap, so probably lag. Something to watch out for, I guess I am a bit paranoid after the Goodwood chicane thing last week.

As for Sardegna itself, loads of fun, a few corners you can go flat out with blind exit if you get the entry right and a decent number of laps and a tank that gets you most of the way through the race allows for more pit strategy (anyone doing a no stop? tyres don't seem to suffer too much here but I saw loads of people taking a fresh set anyway, maybe it will change by midweek).

Gr3 is a great fit, just have to watch those high kerbs, get a front wheel over the back becomes a pendulum and you lose all momentum. Only tried the Audi so far but this week will be a nice chance to test out different cars and get to know a new circuit and how people race on it.

Brands might be on.

It's generally one of my worst circuits. Especially in the faster, rear-wheel drive cars. There's just no margin for error and, just like Suzuka, I spend a lot of time at the beach.

But I went for a whizz around this morning quickly before work - I wasn't 'hot' lapping - I just wanted to get a sense of control.

Been using the 'get-out-of-jail' Evo in Gr.4 for a while now and, it really wasn't as bad as I feared it would be around the Hatch. I'll go for some full push laps tonight or tomorrow evening and see if we're competitive - i.e. +4-6 secs of top10.

You don't need to be in the same car but you do need to be in a qualifying session, rather than a race entry session.

To view a top 10 replay, go into a qualifying session and view the top 10 times. Click one and you get the option to 'Load Ghost'. That's what you need. After that just make sure ghosts are displaying and it will show that one as well as your own fastest time.
Can't get this to work at all, despite following all your steps...

Do you see the 'Load Ghost' option?

EDIT
I made a video. Remember you have to be in 'Qualifying Time Trial'. Not 'Race Entry'. You'll have to excuse my shonky driving. I was using the controller instead of the wheel and wasn't used to it

Goodwood was a snooze fest last night. Only saw 2-3 A’s.grabbed a few easy wins to bump me up to 80 wins, then called it a night.

I think I did 16 races in A this week. 14 wins 2 2nd place finishes. Looking forward to this week at Brands.

It’s only available in standard qualifying not the race entry qualifying.

Same here. I wanted to skip this week (not fan of the one make stuff; I hate Brands Hatch; Sardegna is too new, "unknown" and too fast to me with Gr.3), but maybe I just run some test laps with my Viper. My target is +8-10 sec... :D .

It will always be “unknown” until you get to know it, no better time then the present. It’s actually a really fun track. :)

It's different for everyone. For instance, I can't make the corvette or AMG work for me. Anywhere!!! There's plenty of times that I have to use a car that is not a META car at all!

I was exactly where you are. I just focused on improving my Q time and getting top 5 finishes. Now that the ghosts can be loaded from the timing sheets, it should be easier to see where you are doing well and where you can improve.

I didn't realise the ghosts could be loaded now, that's very interesting.

The Viper gets around Sardegna quite well. I did some pre-qualy laps just to get a feel for the track. Still not quite there, but I'll enter the midnight or half past midnight run. It's only the first day of the week, so I'm not inclined to spend hours qualifying. My qualy time will probably put me towards the back. I'll used the opportunity to learn the track as I go at an easy going pace and then ramp it up a hair through the week. 👍

RE: Ghosts.

Controversially I don't actually find them that helpful. I'll watch a replay from onboard with the HUD info on display. That way I can get visual of the braking points, throttle input and corner speeds etc.

But I've always found the ghosts to be distracting. Racing it just gets annoying lap after lap, and if your actually running close to its lap time it always ends up disappearing and reappearing ontop of you onscreen at the most inconvenient moments when you're spotting your braking points/apexes.

So I just check the little live timing thing in the HUD and hope its always blue!

That's a good lap time. I cannot get below 2.02! Take it easy, and we will see you on track again when you are ready.

Well done on the time. Getting 2:00 on Suzuka is difficult; the R8 LMS makes it even harder, despite it being the "meta" car.

Feel better soon, we're here for you! Much love and support.

Sounds very sensible to me.

And what everyone else said - hoping you feel better soon buddy. Get some air.

Cheers guys. I'll probably run some qualy sessions at Sardegna. Learning the new track will give me something to focus on for the few days I'm home alone, this week. But, I won't be racing.

I'll be back battling in the mid pack soon enough.

You can toggle the ghost on and off while you’re doing laps if it gets in your way. I generally just leave it off and flick it back on for a moment at a time on exits or straights to see if/when I’ve gained on it. you have to map a button for toggle ghost on/off but it’s a worthwhile adventure. :)

Tried a race at Brands this morning. QT 1:32.166. Got me 5th/finished 5th. Mixed DR grid. A little bumpy but got the CLB (+6 SR).

Felt pretty good. Penalties seem fairer. Had a bit contact. Got my nose in the apex and another car (lower DR) turned into me. I slowed, let the car go. Thought for sure I'd be penalized. But safe.

Also tried the Z28. Gear shifts on the Camaro seem a little too smooth and quick for a transmission from '69. Not that I've driven a non-auto one for real, just guessing.

I'm beginning to think that watching Lester's fastest lap is a waste of time for me. I'm on controller, and he's got a wheel and pedals, and trying to emulate what he does is a fool's errand. Watching Matt Jones' lap was actually more useful to me (he uses controller).

All I'm saying is that if you're usually a #100+ driver, you probably won't be able to do what the #1 guy is doing, and sometimes trying to replicate his lap can just really mess you up.

When I tried to do what Lester did at Maggiorre, I ended up slowing myself down, But even though Matt Jones has a little slower time, I learned something from his replay that made me faster. :odd:

Truth, but, a ghost can really highlight your strengths and weaknesses. It can also help you sort out certain corners. It's a good tool, but yes, they can distract as much as help.

Here's my NSX Q lap from this morning for anyone interested. it's probably no longer a top 10 time.

If only you had a wheel. :p

I thought the top 10 ghosts would really help me. But I already had @Pigems and a few others on my friends list. They're in the top 10 sometimes and I'm always a few seconds slower. Their ghosts are equally useful at my level. So it really doesn't help me as much as though it would. But it's still a fun feature.

Bubba Zanetti has it on good authority this race is not as it seems. Full of trechery. Sent by the Bronze. Bronze.....take our pride.. Yeh well I had a crack at Race C with the Wiper. I did 3 laps during the 15 min pre-race time trial, and cut 3s off the time I was originally going to settle with. Still not completely comfortable with the track, but it definitely has a flow to it. If you are bold enough to use the whole track I can see why the pointy end is 1:19s. I started P12/20 on a grid of DR/Ds, with an A+ on pole, P2 and A and P3 a B. They had 4-5s up on me. Figured if I finished around where I started, I'd be happy enough with that for a first race of the week on a new track 👍.

Well the dash for crash for T1 was exactly that. I got totally Monza'd :scared:. I found myself a bit groggy, facing the wrong direction, and respawned in P20 :grumpy:. All I could do was just do my laps, finish the race so that at least I didn't loose any SR :odd:.

I went about short shifting the big V10 around the track. DR/Ds are less likely to try a no-stop, so I figured maybe I can finish P18. Between short shifting and using taller gears I managed to get to starting lap 15 with the red fuel warning going. I don't recall seeing an indication of how much fuel I had left but I kept on as I was. Timed out before the end of the lap. I was a bit surprised at the number of people off. This little tortoise went from P20 to finishing P8 . Even gave me the correct racing number (13).

SR blue, DR up, not quite sure how much. Funny story.. this morning for whatever reason, I decided to have one last roll of the dice at the Suzuka casino. while I was waiting for the race to start, with 6 odd mins to go, the post man came to the door with a package. I forgot about the race and had a chat... then I remembered the race!!!!! I came back to find my car parked in the sand between the chicane and the final corner :banghead:. I did the race anyway just so I didn't loose my SR, but coming in last did a number on my DR. Looking at the replay, apparently I started P8. Auto drive let me go exiting the chicane, so I sailed right into the sand where I found my car, was re-spawned on the exit of the chicane, where the car rolled back into the sand .

Another day above DR1 .

I do have a wheel, but it's a piece of crap. :yuck:
I tried the top 10 ghost at LeMans, and after about the first minute of the lap, I could hardly even see him anymore. Needless to say, it didn't really help.

So can somebody help a brother out and just tell me the best strat for race c this week? First race c that interests me since the gr3 nurb 24h.

Is it no stop just short shift and make the tires last strat again?

1:25.0xx :scared:. I have big problems with the braking points.

I got a 1.22 in the first race just lapping normally but consistency is a problem on a new circuit as always. Trying a few FR long bonnet types now (AMG, Viper) and might check the WRX or Evo to see how 4WD does here.
