Ok a bit more testing and a bit of racing at Spa and I am quite enjoying the Toyota hybrid Gr.1 car.

Love racing on Spa but Eau Rouge/Raidillon will always scare the crap out of me if I am within a couple of car length of another car going through it and some folks try to pass going through there, suicidal! As always my biggest issue seems to be other drivers not knowing what a break is or think the car in front of them is an acceptable alternative, sigh.

On the whole I think this would have been a much better race if it was longer and needed a pitstop for tyres, fuel or both but it's ok as a sprint I guess

Might give this some more time this evening and decide whether to run race C or race B this week.
 
I like that PD is FINALLY giving Gr.1 a chance to race outside of Le Mans for Daily Races, and FINALLY separating Group C from the rest of the class on some occasions (would be nice if they let use use our own liveries though...), but when was the last time we had a Gr.1 Daily that required actual strategy?
 
Lago Maggiore has really grown on me lately, new fav track, nice to see it again.

Don't touch race A unless you want your SR to drop...

Well that's another race B and although I had no pens I dropped SR because 3 cars thought that my car was a cornering at at BBB. I'd rather lose it on A as you know that's what A is for.
 
For race C it seems it’s best to use the Audi for qualy and the Toyota for the race. I’m close to getting sub 2 minutes in qualy, but I’m not managing the turbo well and I’ve got none for any of the straights. I’ll study some of the top times, but do y’all have any tips?

Overrev the hell out of the Toyota, BB+3/+2.

Audi for qualy, Toyota for the race seemed to be the way to go last time this combo came up in the last "real" FIA season. Some people will either lift off the throttle slightly or drag the brake when they run out of battery to get it to recharge more before the next deployment. I know for the Toyota, setting brake bias to the rear gives you slightly more energy recovery ability, but I don't remember if that's the case with the Audi.

Have you tried the Toyota though? It’s usually the much better car for the race because it harvests hybrid better.

Thanks I am going to try the Toyota.

In the Audi, I want to preserve power for Eau Rouge and the Kemmel Straight but it gets consumed on the start/finish straight. Any tips?

EDIT: I noticed that the Toyota was able to better preserve the battery power for the key straights. So far, I have found it more difficult to drive.

Final standings for race C. Had some hopes for a WR, until the top guys who put effort in blew it out of the water :O Bit annoyed because P2 and P4 is the same person so technically my lap is 4th fastest (.001 too :irked:), but oh well, if you told me a week ago that this would happen on a Gr.2 combo I would've laughed at you :lol:

Great lap but 2 thing i cannot fathom.

a) The speed you carry through the T1 and 2 complex, how the heck?

b) The downhill left hander into the esses, you hold 5th gear and carry ENORMUS speed, how???? i have to tap the brake to get her to turn in but you don't even change down so how do you rotate the car so easily and still not have it wash wide? I don't get how you're doing it.

Someone mentioned RM tires when they posted on Friday. I'm just conditioned to the idea that is we get good tires, we're required to run some other compound as well. With it being a 4 lap race, I reiterate, screw the FF cars! :lol:

I left it weak for a long time now, even when switching from controller to wheel. Anybody just making that switch from default to weak will just need to learn when to let off the brakes & coast into a corner before using the throttle again.
 
In the past, when the Toyota 050 was the Meta, I think it is usually because it's the only car that doesn't need fuel management to make it to the end. I can't play with the fuel mix and keep my eyes on the road, so it's a sure thing I'll screw up my lap if I try. Are there any fuel issues at spa this week? What about other cars?
 
Has anyone run the Mazda 787B 91 in race C at all? How did it go.

I did some time trials with it and that thing is like a rocket in a straight line easily breaking 200 mph. For me it had a couple issue the first being it's seem a bit of a tank in the corners but I suspect that might be a lack of talent on my part. The other arguably bigger issue is it sounds like someone killing a cat with a dentist drill. I only did 5 laps in my testing and I was ready to rip my ears off :crazy:

Still I would be interested to see someone with some talent run it through a race. You might want to mute your sound though hehe.
 
There's seems to be a hybrid battery use limiter again this time - I got it around 40% as lowest charge I got.

I'm using Weak.

It depends on what suits you better; Default lets you turn more while braking, but your braking power is slightly reduced as a result. With Weak you have to let off the brakes slightly if you want to turn while braking, but you'll brake harder in a straight line. (at least that's what the game explains in the description)

Weak requires just a little more precision but you'll be faster if you're good at brake management.

I'm no alien, but I have improved my driving of high downforce cars lately. I would say the biggest issue is line. Look at the left hander into the esses. He's almost in the grass at turn in, and his line through the corner is a smooth, classic arc. He turns in early enough to get to the apex, a little lift to stay tight and rotate, and back on the gas. One of the things that was beaten into my head (by me) is that if you keep these cars "stuck", then the faster you go, the better they stick. Try full throttle through there, but aim to have your right side tire on the curb, You may find that tapping the brake is cutting your max corner speed due to less downforce. If you don't make it to the apex, turn in sooner.
I didn't even get a chance to qualify there last week, but those 2 spots in that lap didn't really blow me away. The way he went through the COD...yeah, that would have killed me.
 
I change from weak to default based on combo.
Lately lots of default.

Edit re the dailies...Last weeks C was pretty awesome. I raced a ton.
Not a big ts050 driver or much on Spa....
I may take some time off...

Run a couple races so far -- they seem to have gotten more cars on the straight for when the lights drop -- at least 4, maybe 5, not sure.

The race is kind of boring though if you are matched up with like-speed folks, unless you're willing to divebomb to pass. I'm not (on my main, anyways, lol), so I spent 10 laps single file for both races pretty much. The dirty air kills your grip when you get within a half second, and it allows the car in front to build the gap up a bit, from what I've seen.

Still, since my time is pretty decent, I'll try to farm some DR this week. I'd love to hit the 50k mark for the first time. 3500 DR to go, at the moment.

No fuel issues. Melt icebergs at the beginning.

The TS050 has an advantage because it charges the battery more efficiently, so you have hybrid boost for more of the track. It also handles much better than the Gr C cars in Sector 2.

And have you tested this? I don't know as the vid I watched said there was no advantage to weak and since I have enough trouble controlling stuff I just left it and forget about it.
I'm not changing, but it would be interesting to know if people can actually benefit from this
