I don't get how people are able to get the trophies for poles and wins, let alone have hundreds of wins. I have a DR of ~22k and I usually end up qualifying mid-field, and if I do win a race, it's usually because I was on pole to begin with. It's exacerbated by the fact that the races in general (both Daily and FIA) are short enough insofar that qualifying position has a notable influence on the results - some would say that in too many cases, the winner is already determined in the qualifying rather than the race itself.
Here are my notes with these trophies:
-We know that at the very least, the DR system has changed post-launch, and for as little as I know, these trophies could've been a bit more bearable to earn before this change.
-How *does* matchmaking work? I'm often matched with DR A people. Why not have a narrower range of player DR for matchmaking, instead of matching me with drivers that have over 8k more DR score than me? Perhaps there is indeed a narrower range that's usually given priority in matchmaking, but maybe there are less active players to be matched with, and as a result, maybe the game is matching me with these DR A players as a way of trying to scrap together a well-populated field. This would corroborate with how I've heard GTS has less active players in general than other GT games.
-Finally, my issue with these trophies is that the difficulty of obtaining them is subjective. To compare, the "Beat Zico" trophy in WipEout HD is still very much a notable challenge, but it still uses a more "static" criteria, namely beating a specific time on a certain course with a certain racer. But with the wins/poles trophies in GT Sport, I strongly believe the phrase "moving the goalposts" applies here. It makes sense that as you get better and continue to have race results higher than your DR ranking (i.e. the number on your sticker), you get harder players, but it feels like there's a point where getting results higher than this ranking (and thus increasing your own DR score) is actually detrimental, as it eventually becomes impossible to gain any wins/poles. I almost always qualify for midfield, too.
And I would really like some constructive advice and discussion, not some brainless "git gud" crap. For example, I do like how the total races/wins/poles trophies use a motif of records set by actual GP drivers like Senna. And I do think these trophies, in concept, make tons of sense as the ultimate trophies to obtain in a competitively-oriented Gran Turismo game. But I also abhor how the current system ultimately leads to two scenarios, regarding these trophies: they punish the act of increasing your DR, as you are eventually matched with opponents that are improbable to beat in regards to both qualifying and racing, and thus, they encourage deliberately dropping your SR so you can gain easy poles/wins against brainlets.
