Update to my XJR-9 run. Came 4th behind three no-stopping Toyota TS050s. That was a crazy race.

No wins yesterday which was unfortunate but I did get two thirds! I only did Race B and the results were all over the place, so to the starting positions. As I'm not very confident with the R8, I chose the Porsche which proved to be quite reliable, even if I wasn't. There were several intense moments where I started outside the top 10 and got bullied by others into each braking zone. One Lexus in particular was giving me plenty of trouble and constantly hounding me until I got a chance to bump him slightly, allowing me get away. Traffic was the name of the day and when I was stuck in it, my laps were rather slow. I had an awkward moment into turn 4, where I had two cars either side of me. Surprisingly, there wasn't a massive crash and I kept my position. I don't even know where I finished in that one:lol: I had a chance to snag a fifth in one race after starting 12th, but I got too close to a Subaru and gave him a fair punt, which dropped me back to 11th after a 5 second penalty. I also had a chance to get second in my last race of the day, but no. I was right behind another Lexus for half the lap and thought I could make a move on the second last corner. I wanted to go inside but the Lexus had the same idea so I had go right instead. I went wide as a result and got bumped as well. He got a four second penalty but a Mercedes went by and I couldn't get second place. I didn't realise how close he was to our battle.
 
I had another couple of races with the Audi to cap off the week. I got the battery management down better and went faster in the races. It couldn't compete with the Toyota on raw race pace, but could match the Pug which seemed the next most popular car from my experience. Tough to race with but a lot of fun and very rewarding! Looking forward to next time!

Hi guys :) .
I had a mixed weekend. Most of my races went down without a problem but I met some glitches(?) too.
The guy on front of me stucked on the grid at the start => since the auto drive didn't overtake him, everybody behind him stucked to the grid... including me. Twice in a row.
In another race the penalty clock went crazy. When I slowed down in the penalty zone, the counter went down... than up again, then again down. My .5 second became at least 1 or 1.5 second :( . Just before the zone I overshot a corner maybe I just got the penalty when I slowed down? But the end of the race the penalty counter(?) showed me shorter time penalty.

No clean race this time, and still no overtakes after 29 races - all of my positions was gained by driver errors or accidents :( .

Hmm, thought I would try an early race C this morning but that didn't go to plan.
Tips
  1. Don't spin at the start. I hopped out of TC1 slightly too early (I was wanting to put the radar back on) and did a wonderful spin into the wall. Straight to last place :(
  2. When catching people through the fast sections, hope they don't use the brakes. Coming into the fast chicane towards the end of the lap the person in front hits the brakes, I slam into the back of him and spin off. 5 second penalty to me :)
  3. When overtaking people, hope they don't get on the loud pedal a little too aggressively. Had 3 people snap oversteer into the side of me sending me into a spin.
  4. Short shifting seems to work quite well in this combination. You can get to the end with just a little of FM2 and a lot of short shifting, but I am not sure if it is better to just hammer it and refuel at a pit stop. I was going to do 2 stints on softs, but obviously didn't go to plan. Pit stop doesn't seem very long so don't think mediums will work, though not sure.
  5. If you do spin your tyres will be knackered so you will probably have to pit. I ended up with no rear tyres on the last lap, and that isn't fun.
Think I will give it one more go and then just admit that anybody but the best drivers will struggle to race on this combination without a big SR hit. I'm down 18 points in one race :(

So in summary:
  1. Don't spin at the start
  2. Don't spin when drivers ahead unexpectedly brake
  3. Don't spin when overtaking drivers who oversteer
  4. Short shift
  5. Don't spin because it destroys your tyres
:lol:

I joke. A new track with a new car for everyone will be a bit messy until everyone gets used to it. It looks like a fun week of races (if you're not overly bored of Suzuka).

Sounds like they're really throwing everyone on the deep end with this combo
 
14:30 Race C: Started pole, finished 3rd. @Sidawg2 won the race thanks to the fact that my rears were lit up during the side by side action with him. Pitted lap 7 for new Softs and ended up getting punted by an HK guy, preventing me from using my fuel advantage against the Japanese. Ended up having a nice showdown against @Pubs16 after that, but then I soon gained confidence to go flat out on that chicane before the last hairpin...
 
It seems that just like the death chicane at dragon trail, a lap at Sardegna in this car hinges on how you take that fast chicane. Got my time down to a 24.2 after about 20 laps. 1s off the top EMEA guys atm which is decent for me.
 
A lot of drivers are making the mistake of learning Sardegna A immediately with the new Red Bull vehicle (Race C), which is a recipe for disaster. You'll learn the circuit faster and make far less mistakes in a N300, N500 car etc. That would be my tip. I've also mentioned that in the video below.

Suzuka needs to removed for a long time. I'm starting to find the circuit somehow boring because it's featured almost every week. St Croix is asking for a return

i suggest Red Bull Junior to learn the new tracks with some downforce.
 
Plan for tonight then, a couple of BMB races to grind some credits, then learn the new track . .

We'll start off in something slow, then work up to the 2019 Red Bull.

You don’t need to start off with something slow mate.

Waste of time. Better off using the ghost of someone faster for reference.

Better to learn by watching someone else, than driving a slower car and thinking you have it right.

I'd rather learn the layout, and get a rough idea of lines, without travelling at mach 3 . .
 
I’ve got the Clio at GoodWood down to a 28.6 by chasing Lester’s Ghost around, there’s still more there but it’s gonna take a bunch of laps to find it. Fun combo though. :)



On another note, making a livery for the RB car is frustrating, my decals keep disappearing on me lol.

Far left setting when decal is selected. Increase both settings.

I can't remember what they're called. But, that'll fix it.

I’ve got the Clio at GoodWood down to a 28.6 by chasing Lester’s Ghost around, there’s still more there but it’s gonna take a bunch of laps to find it. Fun combo though. :)

You need to mess around with the angle and projection settings after you've added the decal, also 'aligning with camera' before adding the decal might help

time saver as this is exactly what i was gonna start off with today lol

I feel like there are two or three cars other than the clio they could/should have chosen for race a, but the clio has always been a car i liked so whatever. Never got a chance to practice the track on the weekend so i am coming in fresh. 3 laps no ghost but my own and my best is a 1.35.8 I like this track, but it will take a few(dozen) laps to get fast.

@Pigems nice laps sir. I am about to hunt your ghost. You should be safe for today though. I gots lot of learnin to do on this track...
