1min31s2 on Brands, got a nice 4th spot and ended up precisely on the same 4th at the end because the track is simply too narrow to overtake without a fuss.

But since I hate the Camaro with every atom of my being, I guess I'm going for some serious quali runs in order do drop down my time to a pole achieving window so that I'm the one who just drives to an easy win.

Huh.

I did the no-stop technique, dropped back to near the end of the grid and came... 11th overall?

Seems others are having more success than me. Was I not pushing it enough? Ended with 2 laps left of fuel in the tank. (Sorry for the double post!)


EDIT: Also, for clarification I've never really done a no-stop method before so it felt kinda alien to me.

Where did you start though? And yes if you had 2 laps of fuel left then it sounds like you could push a lot more. I usually check the fuel map as I cross the finish line each lap to see how I'm doing, aiming to finish the race as close to zero as possible.

All this talk about not being able to overtake at Brand's... I'm not so sure. You really have to pick your spots. It takes bravery to go inside at the short braking zones but if you have the balls and the acceleration (get that TCS off, no 1st gear hairpins here). If you're going for the handling advantage get it done at t1 or Druids. You can eat a lot of kerb at Druids and you have the left hander at the bottom of the hill to help you complete the move - remember the green surface is slippy, but it is fair game to be all over it exiting Graham Hill.

If you're outspeeding the guy in front, be patient and do him in at either of the last two turns. They're wide and have relatively long braking zones - get alongside early and take the inside. You can get away with somd unconventional lines at the last left hander. Always try to finish the move with the optimal exit for the start finish straight. I wouldn't bother trying to wedge it up any odd lines around Surtees - you need to get the speed for that straight.

Be patient and pass where they are slow. Brand's demands focus all the way around - no big straight to roll your shoulders and take a deep breath. Keep the pressure on your opponent and don't make mistakes.

Save less fuel :) You don't get a refund on what isn't used :lol:

It does take some practice but like I said, keep an eye on the laps remaining in the fuel map to try and measure your consumption. If you are up shifting at the same point then you now know you can shift a bit later than that.

Yeah, thinking about it now I think I was shifting too early and driving too conservatively. Thanks for the tips!

Tried the 911 for the last race of today, and I rather keep using the NSX. the porsche I Have to shift around 1/4 of the bar, or to be extra safe, when the rev limiter starts showing. the car has the gruntiness for that, but its just feels bland and boring. Plus the front tires get eaten a bit more, thus understeer on the last laps. I can corner better on the NSX. The advantage of the 911 comes from the stability and grunt out of the low speed corners plus good gearing for that, at the expense of corner speed on high speed sweepers. But take this with a bit of bias toward one of my fav cars.

The winning strat so far, Voodoo, seems 911 and a no stopper. that's what all the aliens I saw are using. But its just basicly take your favourite MR car and you'll do well.

@RedRockValley Yeah, like said above, you got to push it a bit more. Check on the straight only for the fuel. don't get too absorved on the fuel saving. It will come natural in a couple of races. If you see per example on the beggining of the 10th lap, you have 5.5 laps left (you need 6 laps of fuel) and are behind someone, just use the split stream and put FM on 5 or 6 for the bigger part of the straight, and back to FM1 for the rest of the lap, shifting 1/6 earlier than the normal shortshiffting. On a lap or two you'll get all the fuel you'll need, and won't lose that much time.

Tried in vain to best my QT. Got within 4 tenths and thats as close as we got. So 2 races with the 32.8xx.

Race 1. P10 > P8
Me vs an entire horde of DR/C. I thought I was gonna be a lamb to the slaughter. All nice and clean until Hawthornes, then the carnage started. I was awarded 3 seconds through Graham Hill on L2 as some silly Muppet behind got it all wrong and bumped me on his way to another planet. Genuinely unsure as to how the rest of the race really unfolded. I never left the tarmac once. Hence why I ended up in 8th after all of that.

Race 2. P5 > P6
After losing 10 SR on the last one the game surrounded me with more familiar company. All swimmingly until 1 of 6 stock liveried Trophies shunted me off at Surtees. He didn't even pick up a penalty for it. Cue a succession of people in front losing it between Hawthornes and Clearways over the next couple of laps. L4 was very lonely until both I and the guy miles ahead in P5 made enough mistakes that P7 caught us for a dash to the line all separated by 2 tenths. An uneventful race bookended by two incidents, otherwise tres boring!

The end result was rather unexpected mind. Turned out I did a thing...

I took a run at Race C Qualifying tonight, I really like this track. But with Gr3 cars it makes for a tricky combo, managed to sneak into the 20’s with a 20.7 after chasing around @QC YALUM for a bit. Great Lap man!! :cheers:


There’s still a little more there but it’s time to move onto Race B. :)
 
For me, I'm done with Race B. In the lower ranks you get matched with some right plonkers, usually in Huracans/Meganés with eyesore technicolour liveries... They just love to block you and give you "friendly" nudges :banghead:

Agreed, Sardegna B is a really special track. It's become my current favourite due to smashing red bull jr races on there for my daily milage... I'm a little put off to try it in gr 3 after so many times out in the RBJ where most of the track is flat out... I'll give it some feeler laps tomorrow, I think.
 
I chased Lester around Brands for a bit but he just kept driving off into the distance on me. What a guy eh! Wouldn’t even wait for me. :lol:

Ended up with a 30.1 in the 4C. Brands always looks like such an easy track, then you get out there and remember that it’s HAF! :)

Kinda scary huh? If you get on a mixed grid of DR/D and C you gotta finish higher to gain any points :crazy:. The points bonus you get from going up a level should last you for a few races... hopefully you will last longer than my first time in DR/C... I lasted 2 days :eek:.

Brands has plenty of overtaking but not for drivers who insist on trying to tailgate.
Tailgating is a bad habit you can never make a proper overtake that way.

I actually love tailgating people if i don't think I'll be able to get a good pass on them, the closer you ride them the more pressure they feel and hopefully make a mistake. I have gotten pretty good at it to, i can follow guys for 1-2 full laps right on thier butt, depending on the track, and never actually touch them. I have even gotten a few post race compliments for putting so much pressure on and staying clean.

Having a hard time with the camaro. I have only got a 37.401 right now with a short run around last night and again this morning. Neither session was real focused attempt though tbh. I believe if i give it a solid focused go i can get into the 36's but not sure how far. Finding the right brake point and trail breaking pressure at the bottom of the hill and a proper nailing of the final turn are my biggest issues right now.....

You'll be getting some better grip if you can figure out how to lower your tire pressures a bit.

Those are the most difficult areas for me as well. Huge time to be gained or lost going uphill after the right hander. Come out slow and it's over.

I'm going to stick to the 458. Maybe the Alfa later this week. Although, i was going similar laps in the RCZ, but a few tenths slower. No 1:21's with it.

The 458 will do high 1:21's to mid 1:22's the whole race while short shifting. You can use 3rd gear to pull away from the slower corners instead of 2nd. It's absolutely sublime!!!! I LOVE IT

I used it 3 times so far, I think. Good finished every time.

I even got punted down to 11th. I think the culprit either mistook me for someone else or had control issues. He slowed down almost immediately, ghosted himself, and left.

I came back and won with 12 seconds to spare.

I entered a couple on Brands just now not having tried the 86 and one lap warmup...I didn’t race well. Started tenth in first one and finished like twelfth after having an off...
Second race I was in the battle pack and got ahead of them and should have ran away but ran a touch wide, they caught and had to let a few cars through. Too sloppy on my part both races big time...I need to use the 86 in a few more to get used to it’s handling in race.
At Brands I hate not knowing the guy behind or for example knowing he is in a font drive car with way more acceleration and power barely catching at end of straight coming into a corner....In the 86 you have to get through and scape and it can be done...but you gotta be calm cool-makes things spicy...
and collected... Today I didn’t. It was good racing though and something you said before I really agree with...
In the rooms at upper sr people race pretty darn well and usually try for clean...It doesn’t always happen because it’s simply not easy, not so much malicious intent. People are running a fine fine line being quick and racing close...Things happen...
I just don’t have the trust in unknown drivers to run bumper bumper...
Like in the race we did together at Goodwood no prob.
Brands...that’s kinda what makes the fun...the uncertainty...That’s why this games multiplayer is so good.
I seriously wouldn’t ever race ai again for single player...Rally is my favorite for that lol.

WOW! Fantastic race! Layout B certainly works for Sport Mode. 👍 Not just saying that because of my result. Offline, it doesan't feel like much of a circuit. Among real players, it comes alive. Really nice.

I thought the same thing. In the offline track races, you just fly past them & you just go through the paces. With other real drivers, it turned the fun up to 11. I had a bit of a battle with 2-3 other drivers last night coming to the end of lap one. More side by side driving & swapping of position that I was enjoying myself. Too bad I forgot that we had tire wear & slipped off track & there went the fun. I caught them back up after we all took pit stops & did it again.

I still hate Interlagos. Suzuka is still a sore spot. Says the guy who won 5 races in the last 2 weeks there.
 
Anyone else having issues with the GTS server right now? I've had a really long day at work dealing with slow computers and have been looking forward to getting home and practicing for race C. Boot up the system only to get a server not available at this time or when it finally shows the home screen, it just says cannot connect to server :banghead:. I've checked my internet connection and everything is working fine so I don't know if it's on my end or if it's a GTS thing :mad::confused:

EDIT: Looks like it's working fine now after restarting the PS4 for the third time! :irked:

Lol, that car, with that diff, and it’s weight under braking, makes it so easy to spin the inside rear...that cars challenging...
Look how the times have dropped too...people figured something out.
What are they now 1.5 seconds ahead of yesterday’s top ten...
