Man, anything sub 55 is a fast lap. I thought I was doing ok with the 56.2 I ran last night.

Out of curiosity, what do you set your brake bias at? I'm running TC 0 with BB +3. It seems counter intuitive to run so much rear brake on something so squirrelly but anything less than that and it actually seems to understeer on entry...you just need to be really easy on the throttle on exit lol
In NA, a 56.2 puts you in the top 50. It's a good time, but it's difficult to bring the time down with the kart.

I'm running BB +4, TCS 0. Gotta set yourself up to hit the late apex on all of the hairpins, especially for the first and last ones.

That's a surprisingly difficult transition to make.

I know. And since I've been playing Gran Turismo since the beginning with this control setup, it's mainly because I don't have the usual for use the R2 and L2 for accelerator and brake.

I've been playing with X and O for years as well but found no problem switching: you just have to force yourself to break the old habbit, muscular memory does the rest eventually and the hability of tailbreaking and taming the car due to precise throttle control is really rewarding. But I tend to play a lot of intense control focused games, so maybe I'm a bit better on this.

Want to know what's bizarre? I have a T500 RS boxed somewhere in the house because I'm simply a lot faster with the DS4 to the point that I can't be bothered to deploy the wheel, endure the whole learning curve again in order to be some tenths quicker.

Totally agreed on the X/Square to R2/L2 transition on the DS4. The reason I switched was kind of a weird one; I was doing my straight line performance tests in Gr.3/4 and I couldn't maintain the 100 km/h headstart for the acceleration test by tapping X  It opened up lots of options for me, it just feels better to drive now. I was mostly used to it after a day, but my muscle memory from using the same buttons in GTA might have helped :)

Is there a decent helmet/suit livery going about that will make me look like Princess Peach from Mario Kart? I won't touch Race A without one.

Dude, how can you not go with Toadstool? You could be rockin a red and white polkadot helmet. ;)

And it needs a big yellow banana peel on the back, so it looks like you’re about to drop it on the guys behind you at all times!

The real challenge is using the D pad for steering, tapping left/right and X at the same time while on those long sweeping corners was sooooooo hard!!
Long sweeping curves is exactly what made me switch from d pad to left stick. It was the Z8 race at BB Raceway in March that compelled me to change.

The steering is much less sensitive in real life and wheelspin is not a problem.

Do you race them?
I tell ya I’m old and something way more tame than those is hell of a workout for me after 2-3 laps.
130 cc air cooled no gears...Easy to spin on hard slicks if you don’t watch it...
Actually in game on nice pedals the kart seems to love throttle to me I actually haven’t tried tcs at all or adjusted bb at all.
To me it feels ‘karty’ but I don’t race karts.
Just goof around. They beat me up too much.

My apologies for the delay fellas! :D

Man, although I really don't like Willow Springs, it really is good for some tight, competitive racing.

The Cayman is losing a bit of time in the corners but has a slight advantage when it comes to top speech against the GT86 and the 4C's, which are mainly used in DR A+/A lobbies.

I'm having slightly more luck today, a 4th and 2x 8th (from near the back) but i'm only gaining a couple of hundred DR each time despite being the lowest ranked in the lobby. I think i'm in EMEA top split or something because it is hard work but fun. I need to get in the 1:16s but even then i'll not be in contention. This is what my starting grid looks like (sorry for picture of the screen, should probably figure out how to get a screenshot off the PS4).

Whoa! Look at all those semi trucks lined up in your first photo. I want to be able to put a livery on my car hauler. That would be epic. Imagine the possibilities. 👍

I’ve been playing with the Kart so far, its too early to start racing at Willow. It’s infuriating at times, but I can’t stop driving it now. 57.2 is best so far, still a long way off though. I just can’t find the exit lines yet to stop it from spinning. :)

Oh, and Ghost karts without drivers are just weird.

@sturk0167 the classics will always be good. Metal never dies man..... i still listen to the stuff i listened to in high school, but i love finding new bands also.

Two races done now. To elaberate a bit on the first. I started 6 and worked into 4th having a solid race with a name i recognized untill i messed up under pressure on the last lap and fell back to 7th. I did then however still have a race to the finnish after coming off the hill, held onto 7th by .007

Next race was another good one, nothing eventfull to report though. Trying to build that dr. Unless i improve a lot through the week at this race, i ain't gonna make it to a+

I also saw @Sven Jurgens starting at the back, there you are again. Whats it like for you today on the track?

I had (have) lots of time to race today, waiting for a washing machine delivery. It was supposed to come in the morning, then after 11 am they called that their truck had broken down and now it will be in the afternoon ugh. They're supposed to be here now any minute... (4pm currently)

Anyway, good entertainment from the back, some good races, some bad either getting driven off or doing it all on my own. I have a tendency to think the race is done before finishing the final corner  I'm doing another get clean race bonus then swap cars 'strategy' this week. It's not that easy on Big Willow, a little tap from the back in T2 is SR Down. So far I haven't gotten under 1:18 yet or moved up more than 7 places, but haven't been driving any of the popular cars yet either. Plus swapping cars doesn't help getting the best out of any single car, but it is more fun! Sometimes I've already forgotten what car I picked when the race starts and with bumper cam I won't know until the race finishes.

SR still at 99, DR down to 36K, pretty much back to last Tuesday for DR lol. The difference between qualifying and not qualifying. Since I was 47.8K before starting with the Big Willow clean back challenge, my DR is starting to look like a reset

Rain is coming, but Big Willow needs dust storms!

So much fun in RACE B, and clean driving so far.. very satisfied..

In this race a Megane simply passed me with pure raw speed, and i had a hard time returning the favor, i eventually stopped pushing and settled for my spot, to risky to push hard on DUNE.

The hunt:

The race:

After a couple of race As in between Monster Hunts yesterday, I've become obsessed. Chucked it around for a 59.something to start my first attempt near the back, gained a couple places in an exciting race with plenty of contact to finish 7th

then I improved to a 57.something which was good for 3rd. Through the first two hairpins i deployed my ultra moves until i got sideswiped off by a Polish dude going under the Dunlop tyre and got sent back to last. I was angry for all of three corners before i caught the pack and started making up positions rapidly. Finished 7th again.

The races were both so fun that I can honestly say I wouldn't mind taking a DR reset from all the contact in order to chase a win or two here.

Unfortunately i can't remember if i had tc on or off during my fast lap, and every event is available on monster hunter right now so my services are being called on over there...

I get the feeling every spare moment will be going into race a, though.

Flipping heck that's a tough lobby. And my qualy time is three tenths off yours. I'd cry if ended up in that one.

Me: okay, I'm going to do some B races today.

GTSport: hey, we have a 10m+ credit car coming out tomorrow.

I guess Big Willow can wait for now. Gonna try to get 20m credits before the update is live. :grumpy:

You're a better man than me. I don't have the patience to try to make that much money in less than 48 hours.

I challenged @Pigems (I'm ready anytime) to a 1v1 challenge today. Not sure how it works but....come watch me get my butt kicked, see how it works and maybe take my place and give him a run.

If I were home, I'd watch for sure.

I’m around now if you want to give it a go! I’ll open a lobby, anyones more then welcome to come watch.

If I were home, I'd watch for sure.

I’ll stream it live so you can watch from anywhere. ;)

Edit: We Live! The first 1v1 challenge. Best 4/7, grid starts, alternating pole, 1 lap races, 1 hot lap starts on pole first.
