Race B has been interesting so far today. I tried the F-type with a Qualf time of 1:33.4, got spun out first lap by some over zealous guy South of me. Then got down to a 1:33.09 with the AMG '16 I bought this morning, qualified 7th but was forced off the track a few times by a group of guys. Then I bought the mustang just an hour or so ago. I held on to a solid P2 after southern neighbor in a Supra kept trying to bump me off my line. This thing is a tank I love it. Qualifying time improved to 1:32.84x with it. Now if I can just keep from getting rammed by these hooligans the first lap.

No something has changed. There are times when I go wide by a significant margin, adjust on the next lap, and almost come to a complete stop far short of the mark.

It's messed up. I noticed it more during races than on my own.

My first instinct after the update was that they changed something to do with the braking, or grip under braking, or how the ABS functions, but something about the braking felt different. After reading your posts I’m starting to think maybe that could be true. It would explain the inconsistent braking you’re seeing, I’ve been kinda feeling like braking is now harder since the update. Both harder to get it right and harder to be consistent with it. Maybe it’s just us though?

It could be an overall tire model change too. Cars also seem to understeer a little less and tires break free a little easier under throttle as well, which would suggest a tire model change or a physics change of some sort. Maybe this is the new Michelin tire model finally coming into play?

Does anyone here feel like the racers in dailies have gotten quicker over the last six months?
America’s region?
Just looking at qualy times they are pretty similar for Interlagos for the last two times the combo was up. 200th now is 1:31.9 and 500th a 1:32.3, and last time the combo was up it was the same. Maybe you've just got yourself into a quicker crowd (playing at a different time of day or higher SR perhaps?). I know that players in EMEA that are say, C/S will get horrible races in mornings because not so many people are online and they get matched with A/A+, but should they play at later times when more people are online they get more similar matching to themselves

Haven't had the chance to try it yet, but watched Super GT stream on Interlagos and he's feeling the same thing, something must be up.

My wild guess is tyre model change and how it reacts when braking and turning. That'd cause abs to interact with a locking tyre differently.

I seem to be feeling the tiniest changing in steering angle is having a big difference in stopping power.

The trail braking margin between easing off the break too little and too much appears very small.

First race of the morning and the Renault delivers again. Got FL on lap 2. Would have had FL for the race, but 3 AMG GT3s were holding up the conga line. Had to patiently wait as each one dropped off.

I wouldn't make such a profound conclusion. Yet.

I'm not racing this week, but I am driving the SF19 around Catalunya and nothing feels abnormal about the behaviour of super formula cars under braking... Probably because there's no dirty air to deal with...

BTW, next week's race C is a no-stop with mild fuel saving if PD goes with Super Formula cars...
Going flat out means I run out of fuel with exactly 1 lap left...
Tyres seems to be fine...

Lets hope they fix whatever it is they :censored:ed up in the update coming in the next few days.

And a shout out to @Famine. Thanx for your patience putting up with us lot, (no one appreciates the mods till something goes wrong :p).

cars definitely feel sketchier under braking to me.

Its hard to say for sure but I think they might've tweaked the grip levels around how the game is treating dirty and/or overheating tyres?

After trying out a few more Gr.X cars at Catalunya for next week's race C, I'm 60% convinced it's going to be the Red Bull X2019 competition...

First, it fits perfectly in PD's moto of not going too far off what's traditionally expected, but also, with the fuel settings the way they are, the Red Bull can go flat out through 50% of the race.... A perfect fit for a 1 stopper...
Lastly, it has Medium tires as the default tyres...

I really hope I'm wrong and it turns out to be the SF cars... I'm really slow with the Red Bulls, but fairly competitive with the SF19...

Edit: since the race is 13 laps long, the selected car has to be fairly quick in order to get the races done in under 20mins...
Meaning only the W08 F1 Car, the P1 GTR, Zonda R, Red Bull x2014 & x2019, the old F1 car (F1500T) and the SF cars are eligible..

<shiver> I hope not. The last race I did with that car was Red Bull at Red Bull... my SR dropped from SR/S to SR/B in a single race. I was not a happy camper :nervous:.
I really hope I'm wrong too...
I can't seem to even scratch the car's full potential...

I've never raced any of the Red Bull cars...
Mind describing the events that led to such a step decline in SR? Seems to be quite the story

People drove them like typical DR/B drivers, IE like a Red Bull in a China shop :banghead:. Added to that that any contact is clearly the car who is sailing into a wall at what would otherwise be lethal speeds fault. The muppet that hits them clearly is not expected to, oh, I don't know ..... USE THE 🤬 BRAKES!!!!!!:banghead: I think I was slammed, rammed and otherwise violated by just about every other car there. I never hit anyone, all the other drivers hit me, but the penalty system was so terminally broken that catastrophic SR haemorrhaging is the result. I don't recall if the grid was DR/B (I was C I think at the time, maybe D), but they drove like typical DR/Bs :p. I was apocalyptically cross .

I’m hoping they added realistic Brake Fade, dirty tire grip loss, and realistic tire/brake/temp modeling in general. Sounds exciting to me. Guys with pedal/wheel combos are going to dominate. It’s a FIA backed simulator after all. Add all the realistic physics for tarmac surface roughness too!

edit, I didn’t notice any obvious changes. Only my times are slightly better and driving feels a shade easier. Odd... I’d always assumed the realistic physics/traction/brake fade were built into the simulator from the start. I’d drive with those in mind. Which is slower/smoother and take no illogical risks based on real life experience. I’d have better results on a DS4 and unlearn real world driving conditions. Just play it like an arcade game instead.

First off, it was you @05XR8 , that put me in that Renault. I guess I'll have to chase a ghost a bit and see if I can get a handle on it.
I had a thought (really!) And wanted to throw this out there. Popped into my head that some of the brake issues might be weight transfer issues. I use a Logitek wheel and braking has always been an issue for me because I get no FEEL from the brakes. I do know, both IRL and in the game, that a "gentle" initial bite before full braking, to transfer weight, is importent, just like smooth turn in. If the game is more sensitive, or they "slowed" the transfer speed, the tires could overload easier if you're "over driving".
Of course, it could be a combo of any, or all of the things mentioned so far. Would be nice if PD would let us know.
BTW, got a 5th at the Nurb starting from the back. Best so far, up 9 spots in an SR A/B room with mostly DR B and a couple A drivers. Managed a 8:45 on the second lap with only one drive through the grass at 110 mph when P7 didn't want me to pass.

Now to tame that Renault...

Did a couple race B's before bed last night and struggled like no tomorrow for grip. It was like I was on sport hards rather than racing hards. Had one decent race with the Beetle and one forgettable one.

Of all my complaining it's probably because I just need to get better. Time to 'git good'.

If you do get rammed turn 1 use the runoff on the right to cut turn 2, if you are lucky the rammer will get a penalty, even if they don’t, if they hit you the game usually doesn’t pen you for going outside track...

Race C appears to be 8 minutes of follow the leader, interspersed with crazy rejoins by people who have made mistakes or been punted, followed by a slipstream free for all with whatever ramming that entails into the last few corners. It's not really enjoyable. Got my SR back up to 99 but I've only done two races and I'm bored.
