So, I'm packing my bags for misty Mountain. Where the horsepower go now. Over the hill where the horsepower flies, oh, I really don't know..... So yet another crack at the Mountain. This time I went with the AMG.... the *other* AMG.. there are *two* yanno
? I surprised myself by beating my Jag time. Since it was a mixed grid of DR/B and C, I started yet again P10/19.
Race starts as yesterday, just before Murray's. I didn't take Hell as smoothly as I would have liked, but still managed to go up a place from someone ahead taking it even worse. Things were fine up Mountain Strait, and braked and changed down to 3rd as I had been doing during qually, and the 🤬 just did not wanna turn in. I scraped the wall, and had a newer AMG up my arse. I managed a very small gap across the top of the Mountain and passed a wreck just before Skyline. Again I found the turn in less than equal at Forrest elbow. Tapped the wall on the exit which slowed me down and the other Merc was right there again. It was a drag to the kink. I kept to the inside because I was not gunna get pushed off! We were side by side at the kink.
He turned in and bounced off me, went off onto the grass, then hit me again on re-entry at The Chase. This slowed me so that I had a WRX (who had bragged in pre-race that he was on an alternate account and could act up.) side by side approaching Murray's. He was slightly ahead of me on the outside and turned across me, started to spin across my front, then I T-boned him and he continued the spin
. I felt that maybe I should have backed off , so I pulled over and slowed so he could re-gain, but he spun out again with no help from me. I dropped down to P13 in the confusion. Gained a position from the exit of Hell and had yet *another* AMG on my tail. (There were a bunch of the newer AMGs in the races so far, that's why I picked the SLS). He tried to pass me up the inside on the curve after The Cutting. He scrapped the wall instead. The FT-1 in front was squirming all over and becoming a bit of a roadblock. He managed Forrest Elbow cleanly and pulled a small gap down Conrod. I got sideways and on the grass a bit at The Chase. The GT-R that pulled along side me then decided to swerve into me for no apparent reason, knocking me onto the grass. I took out the 150m marker, but managed to get back onto the track before taking out the 100m marker (my braking point). I got up the inside of him at Murray's. He turned in and bounced off me towards the sand and I slide sideways. I nearly hit the pit wall, but somehow managed to turn the car
. There was lots of tyre smoke from my ghost. Because I practically came to a stand still, he came out ahead, but lost control again , so still P13.
I circulated for another couple of laps. The SLS had become a lot more tail happy than it was in qualy coming down the Mountain, and I was struggling to keep it off the walls
. Near the end of lap 5 I passed a Porsche who muffed up The Chase. Up to P12. I saw a yellow flag and dust at Sulman and up to P11 at Skyline, so there must have been a car parked in the sand I didn't see. Caught up to the FT-1 in P10. He botched entry to The Chase, so up another position. The car in P9 picked up a penalty, so I finished P9
.
SR blue, DR went up another hundred and a bit. The DR/C journey continues
