I love beating cars/drivers using "slower"cars that (supposedly) can't win.
Wow, what a discussion I missed out on! I have to agree with @RacingGrandpa and @Groundfish . Its not just about the META or even the ultimate skill of the driver. There are a lot of guys here that can spank me in most combo's, yet sometimes a track, a car, or the combo just works for me, and I can drive at a level way above my DR. I hate front drivers, I like cars that oversteer a bit on throttle. I like cars that turn in well (who doesn't!) I tend to be overly agressive (in game), so have a tendancy to get in too hot, and overdrive the car. Some cars do really well when driven fast and loose, some need to be "stuck" all the time and be driven extremely smoothly. Loose is fun, which is why I avoid TCS...and I like the challenge. Is the 050 the fastest way around 5 laps with these settings...for the ultimate alien...maybe. Is it the fastest way around for all high B or even A drivers? I don't believe that. Just going by my own experience, I can say that some cars, some types of cars, just work better for me, with my driving style. We are not machines, so we all have different styles and preferences. If this wasn't true, then drivers in the real world would all end up with the same set-up on the same racecars, because it would be "fastest", yet how many times have you heard of a driver who got into a "fast car" and found it almost undrivable until playing with settings to get it where they want. Going fast is about feel, and if a car, no matter how fast (theoretically) over a race, doesn't feel right, or inspire trust for the driver, it won't be the fastest for that driver.I did that last time, can’t get times in ts 050.
Then again I’m not the best at Lemans, plus I WANT tire wear. The more the better!
The idea that certain cars wear tires is sorta true, but it’s a lot more to do with driver than people commonly believez
The 962 can do it, it’s already been proven. The 962 keeps up good on acceleration but you gotta hook it up on exit not come out with wheelspin which means carrying a bit of momentum also, you can’t drive the way 95 percent of people do bumper to bumper all in the same car driving the same way their you tuber of choice said to.
You can in 962 stay in draft on exit if you’re smooth of ts050.
The more tire wear the better imo. The fact you mention tire wear shows me you haven’t used the car. Plus most people don’t manage fuel correctly their shift points are all wrong at fm1.
Just because people make tactical errors using the car doesn’t mean the car is deficient. The ts050 is brainless.
Others have said it and done it. (gotten podium). Tbh the biggest problem you have if qualifying in that car is ts050 drivers bashing you lap 1. For a CLEAN race starting up front with EQUAL skill in both cars anything can happen imo.
It’s sad that the meta mentality results in people in the ‘meta’ treating other players carelessly and punting them.
Yes, if you just want to hop in something that doesn’t reward a bit more tactical thinking and race take a hybrid.
Just don’t discount the 962 as a vehicle because most drivers try to use it like other cars.
See the comment from @bdubclub. I dunno if you’ve raced him a lot, but I’ve raced him several times and he’s very very competent in cars of this nature. He has proved the idea.
Last time we had this, I found the car competitive. Others do too.
There’s more depth to many cars in the game, you can’t just run a few laps in one and conclude it’s a dog.
The other one I’ve seen that I don’t know the secret to is 787b. There’s drivers out there that can compete with that car also.
Imo people need to keep open minds and think for themselves not just clone whatever the pundits tell them.
How can YOU do best? How do YOU get the times?
This game isn’t just copy you tuber x.
There’s many ways to get times, just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it’s de facto impossible.
Good discussion tho definitely.![]()
