The tyre wear is 6x, but we have to use the medium. If you have to pit, just pit. If you like the GT-R, use it. See what performance you can get out of it.

So many times, we see players choose the META and they underperform with it. There are cars others find during the week, that are just as effective/competitive to run. If the GT-R isn't competitive, keep it for a non fuel/tyre wear Race B.

👍

I always look at the data and try to determine the META. *BUT*, I compare it to *MY* best runner. Then I pick.

For racing you need to seek every advantage that you can. That includes trying the META as maybe the the rest of the world knows something that I don't.

Well it was the first car I tested, you'd have to do 5/5 or close (unless your much better on tyres than me) but it doesn't lose much on the meds. If we need both (probable) I'd say it's worth a try, but there are cars that can do a non stop here.
I just had a run with it and the Megane (not the trophy one) that I got from the prize wheel. 6 laps is about as good as I get from softs before the performance drops below fresh mediums. The FF Megane understeers horribly on worn tires, so the Nissan is the better of those two for me. Might have to try one of the FR cars to see how I go with them.

Edit: it probably doesn't help my cause that I am still learning the track and had never turned a lap there until this combo was announced.

Usually, for me, the META is undrivable!

I struggled trying to set a QT with the 787B in Race C this week, finding the 908 the fastest overall for me - as well as being the nicest drive. I tried one last time with the 787 tonight, and finally beat my 908 QT by 0.8 secs!

However, having seen the 787 win most if the races this week, guess what won every race I entered today - the 908! Having said that they were being driven much faster than my own 908, even though I was running with my favourite (borrowed!) Red 5 livery:-

So I did some test, set up in custom race against pros starting from back.
GT-R did ok, came 1st.
WRX gave up
Genesis slightly better or just more used to track
Mustang not much difference
Evo was a huge difference, overall about 10 secs quicker than the rest and rather than coming from pits around 11th I was in 4th.
Tyre wear was roughly the same on all except the WRX which was one of the reasons I gave up on it, I'll be doing 5/5 maybe going to 6M/4S if I feel that's going to work better.

Tried out the Megane and hadn't posted this. It kicks butt, could do 6S easily didn't for comparison and 4 secs faster than the Evo and had the fastest lap. Let's hope it's not META.

I think for a while, the Evo was META at DTG and Interlagos. Wouldn't surprise me if it's good at Autopolis. Last week, the WRX surprised me at Spa.

Might be some good stuff coming from the "Super Taikyu" ST-2 class cars. ;)
I'm not exactly capable with the Lancer, but have often found the WRX and underrated little weapon on some of these tracks. Gave people fits with it at Laguna Seca and DTS2 when they had races with tire wear. It wasnt the fastest out of the box, but it didnt drop off as fast

Cayman has been my go-to handling car in group 4. I expect it will be competitive at Interlagos. Tyre wear is generally a strength and it feels very balanced on that track.

The WRX is slightly quicker on a flying lap, but I can’t get good consistency in it and I worry about its tyre wear there.

The Ferrari will be strong too, maybe the McLaren as well?

Both tyres are required. Should be a good week.

Edit: STOOOOOOOOOOOPID stupid bumping from the FF cars.

Me and the 458 were at the back cruising and all this bumping of the FFs versus an 86 ahead. Then, since the FFs are wack, they target us that are trying to pass cleanly!.

Ev8R0y8VEAI-dP1

JUst motored past one blocking Tt that tried to off me. I brushed past it and went for another lap on RM(I passed the P1 Atenza as it was exiting the pits) before pitting end of Lap 6. Those FFs are toast. Screw them joints!

Edit2: Why qualify, when players give up the spots for free? Just let them bump each other off.
I honestly think the WRX was testing how far they can go, on the one compound(RM).

Edit3: Agagin with ther bumping. This time, the 458 in 8th, gets knocked off track halfway through the lap, by a Huracan that chose to DNF. It fights with the Huracan, in 11th, both behind me into T1. Taking me out. I served the 458 back and the Huracan had a 1.5 second that rose to 2 seconds after it exited the pits.

No patience. It's not even about winning. Just pick a strategy and run your race. Not run everyone over to the finish. Don't even need to qualify.

Decided to take out an excursion to the race A battleground. And aside from a couple of turn 1 trolls it has been a fairly sedate affair. The cars are a bit sketchy to control, and any outside wheel on the grass is near death so things spread out quickly. There is some side barging, but wasnt too bad near me in the lobbies, but did hear of some stuff.

Good to see @Little_Guppy out on track as well, although it looks like a turn 1 missile got him. Always good to see other GTP players out and about. :gtpflag:

So decided to try race C no quali, nice split of cars except I'm 1 of 7 Meganes, looks like I'm in META :banghead::banghead: No I picked it from testing not following so I'm OK.
Well that was nothing like clean, finished 8th from 18th, but should have been higher in a clean race. It wasn't just me either everywhere there were cars being pushed off it was just stupid.

OH and because it was half Cs I lost about 1K DR for 8th, just to put the cherry on top.

So um in race C a 3 second penalty for ignoring a yellow flag? There was a crash in the pit lane entrance that I had no part in and was still going round the final corner when it occurred. I passed it on the opposite side of the track but when I go past the end of the pit exit it hits me with that. I can only laugh at the penalty system now or sigh I sigh a lot too.

Apart from that race C has been very "touring car" for me so far. I don't mind the side by side door rubbing but a lot of folks seem to think that means it's a licence to push you off track and a lot of punt n runs too so more sighing from me.

I have to say I do like this track a lot and it's fun to put the laps in. A good number of corners seem to be slow in and fast out which suits my driving style perfectly but I seem to be a minority in that regard in seems at moment. Most seem to be fast in, use the car in front to brake and fast out, hence the punts I guess.

Still I get some satisfaction when I have slowed to take a corner, someone goes flying past and can't hold the apex goes flying off track while I proceed to serenely accelerate away.

Still not set on my car for the week but my best results so far have been with the 4WD Atenza and Hurrican having a 9th / 7th respectively starting from the back. Not tried all my options in race conditions yet but those might be my car's if non of the others pan out.

Hopefully I can remain calm to the punts and have a fun week of racing.

WHAT THE F?

M6 trying to get past me up the hill at DTS, went for a massive divebomb/punt and missed me, got the guy in front of me & wiped them both out... so I sailed past for a 6 SECOND yellow flag penalty!

I think that’s my first yellow penalty ever!

Well did an A and it was OK, but not really my thing. Another go at C, another round of dodgems. So what's B like?
Well tried quali and as I haven't done this way since basically I just had the game I suck....OK nothing new there. Still Q10 and I'm not happy with my time OH yeah 4 of the 6 behind have no time. Don't like the lighting, this is discrimination against us older players. Didn't like that at all, track is dodgy and the players worse. Down to C due to my bad driving and constant punting. Going to quali for C and see if it's better, but the pen sys is causing problems and since I'm only doing manu this week not even practicing for that will fill my week, but the next couple of days maybe. OH just realised manu is the same track, but the better way round.

Yes it's a big problem at Dragon Trail Seaside because the barriers can keep the crashed cars on track, or in other places they'll be almost instantly "reset to track" (which is what causes most yellow flag penalties), so you get a 3 second penalty when you pass them under the yellow or in your case 6 seconds because they were two of them. :ouch:

The low penalty system will only cause more of these sort of penalties. :yuck:

:gtplanet::cheers:

My attempts at Race C so far have been nothing but infuriating. Any time I take the racing line through a corner I can be assured someone will dive up the inside and use me as a barrier to get around the corner. I’ve been pushed off track 5 times in 3 races. Not one penalty given.

As far as cars go, the Cayman is no good, the 650S is ok and the Slophy is META.

I’m not sure I’ll race this much this week. I don’t need any extra stress in my life.

Seems that race C this week is an altogether more pedestrian affair.

After a sketchy start I ended up really enjoying the Gr1 Le Mans race last week. Finally beat my K time late last night, getting down to 3:22.7. In the late night lobbies this meant us low range Bs were mixing it up with some A and A+ including @GOTMAXPOWER
He held up the GTPlanet honour by taking pole and a flag to flag win. Good to see some of the real talent on this forum in the virtual flesh!

I used the 1H/5M undercut to go from 10th to 6th and at least be semi-competitive.

But there was good racing all week in race C.

I'll see what Autopolis is like later.

Watching Kie's stream. Nearly all the cars are the Mégane Trophy.

The top ten for race C when I checked a few hours ago had mostly WRXs (US). Got to see how that's going to pan out over the rest of the week.

I’m betting it will change, to what?
I have no clue.
This morning, pick a car you’re comfy with and roll on.

Last week was a really cool race, it started pretty tame but at the end of the week things were getting wild! Always cool to see a fellow GTP'er on the track :gtpflag:

Race C has been fun today. Met a few dirty drivers along the way, and with the current penalty system, they generally got away with it unfortunately.

Used the Scirocco for quali, managed a 1:49.6, but in race, definitely not worth using. Race is more or less a Trophy one make, with the occasional WRX, 4C or F-type thrown in.
