Ran 3-4 races in B last night and found the racing exceptionally clean and close. Need to do a few more qualifying laps to get higher on the grid, only managed a 2:04.7xx in the Mustang. Looks like the Evo is strong here, need to buy one of those and give it a shot.
 
I love the merc here, always have , done more laps at bathurst in the merc than any other car n track combo. And I'm telling you, the grip is weird. Sometimes the car feels on rails then boom horrible understeer, then snap oversteer, like WHAT is going on?

Yeah what the HECK is with the grip at bathurst?
I guess they are adding background track temperature or rubber level.
Last time out and in general I’ve been hauling in the Stang of late on med or soft but it was NIGH UNDRIVABLE.
The car would just lose front grip and hit the wall!
I rebooted etc, but I think it’s on purpose.
I won last night-got passed by a vette but lap four they ate the wall-death by understeer.
I drove very conservatively and it paid off.
 
I was all over the place, barely strung a clean lap together it was embarrassing. I just cannot pick the grip, one minute there's a LOAD of turn in and I am cutting the corner then the next, I lift off the gas, expect her tot rotate a bit but she just plows forward.

It was brutal.
 
When I tried to qual on main I couldn’t get in a clean lap-kept crashing-gave up-turned it off-came back later.
Same experience as you especially coming up griffins through cutting.
I kept hitting the walls-COULDNT BELIEVE IT.
Frustrating. The solution is BRAKE EARLY.
The strange thing is the alien times are the same as always.
The DBR9 drives a LOT better than Mustang-car dependent???
 
I tried the GTR and stang and both were way worse than the Merc. My times are actually OK, if I can get a clean lap in a sub 2.01 is very doable but I am bouncing off walls left and right, and I am even spinning, I RARELY spin, anywhere, but man.

I will try the Aston but even if my times are solid I find that car a chore as you need to brake so early.
 
I don’t want to have to use vette.
Dbr9 or Vantage ought to do well.
I may try Merc. I’d bet Lexus is too sketchy. I’m rubbish in GTR.
I’m glad I’m not the only one to notice the change in grip or track temp or whatever…
They don’t feel like racing softs that’s all I know.
I shudder to think how sketchy mr must be rn.
The Cutting is much trickier than normal now…I predict a lot of this this week on c race…

Luke Youlden, he really was terrible.

I am not a fan of passing in the cutting against close cars, lapping or whatever is fine but a proper two car fight, cutting is a no go IMHO, it comes off worse for wear more often than not.

Supercars really are a bit odd eh, more power than the GT3 cars, like way more, and hopeless tyres and bugger all aero.

As for cars, the Lexus just doesn't have the top end and the Vantage doesn't quite get turn in right, for me, with all the kerb riding here, the merc is excellent.

Last night at Race A, was some of the worst dirty driving I've seen on GT Sport in top lobbies. I am really discouraged by how dirty and boldly cheaters are behaving.

When you qualify 3rd in the top split, and still lose DR every race because people purposely plow they way past to take positions, and then ram anyone who tries to overtake sideways off the track, for hours on end without retribution, how can anyone enjoy the game?

People were choosing the '05 Mini, which gets off the line better, and then literally plowing past the '65's, and then purposely running anyone who was able to get alongside them (which the older Mini can do via it's higher top speed, strangley, with the BoP as it is) off the track before they could pass.

This was in the top lobby with A/A+/S drivers throughout filling the grid. Sad.

Currently 20th on the regional leaderboard with a pretty solid QT. Best I've ever been, I think. I did manage a second place, and was pacing the leader the whole race, so I was happy with that. But every other race, I was bullied off the line or completely off the track by a pig of a cheater, who was blatantly doing it on purpose. Ended up a night of racing exactly where I started with DR, and sour from the lack of fair play.

I do love the econobox races, they are typically good to me. The last time we had this combo I did well with DR and enjoyed the races. But the culture is different this year and I don't see it happening this week.

(I do wish I could duplicate the competitive pace I have in these kind of N100/N200 cars to Gr3 and Gr4 cars... I'm always much further up the leaderboard in these events... I am good with the throttle control and keeping the differential and tires at the limits on exit, but I can't seem to do the same in the race cars.)

That’s so discouraging to hear that these guys aren’t getting lowered SR at race end?
Race C last week at LeMans was very strict so I guess A this week reverted to anything goes?
You are as fast as anyone on A race, you can see why, in top split sometimes I get so frustrated with those children.
So many are hotlap specialists who suck at racing and so many are just Forza level bashers.
There’s a lot who are cool, too, but it’s luck of the draw.
I can tell in matching if it’s going to be a good race anymore…There’s been a lot of new alt accounts this year but their driving tells me who they are pretty quickly and if they get to eat the wall or space to race…
In C race yesterday guys were being VERY careful.
It’s my experience that top split can produce amazingly fun races sometimes, but often it’s the dirtiest driving you can find…
I’ve been racing those guys for a long time, and frequently even on alt I come unglued…I know how to make things miserable for them…
@NevilleNobody I am gonna have to see if Merc is quicker than DBR9 in my hands-I used to love Merc…

I run 4-4 in gts FEI on wheel 30-50 everything else on wheel default except I like DRI off.
Fanatec reccomended DRI -01 or something but I don’t use it except in AMS2.
As far as clipping I haven’t tested it to find where that starts.
In game I’ve run 5-1 3-10 4-10 and now 4-4 in game and it works well.
I ran 5-5 on I think Supra gt3 Seaside for qual-not sure if the wheel could handle it over long stints but it didn’t clip over a few laps…The fan was working overtime though…

Race this morning was exciting. Started 11th/finished 5th. Cars got bunched up on Lap 3 so I pitted early. Worked for a while. Last lap was a game of survival. Lost 1 spot but for the first time I gained a position due to someone not pitting. Finally.

Copy. I run 100 on the wheel, and 7 torque, 10 sensitivity in game. I like a heavy wheel. However, I’m thinking of stepping down my settings. But I’m not sure what sensitivity really is? I just run it there because that’s what people on YouTube said to do.

What do you notice with running your sensitivity on the lower side?

I used to be a big believer in 10 SENS.
However after time I like 4-4 more.
I feel like SENS too high is a kinda unnatural feel and I lose no information running 4-4.
I feel like on sens 10 it’s unnatural-the steering is underdamped feeling imo on that setting.
The biggest biggest thing for me is in GTS each car tire combo has a certain amount of resistance to tap into, they are all different, and when it lightens up it can be butt clench because you know you’re on edge….
Also a light touch on the wheel “letting” that self centering force help you on exit…
It’s fun to mess about-very very easy to react to the ffb and death grip and try to force the tires…
Funny how often lightening up the grip pressure just in general slowing everything down input wise and lightening up can gain big laptimes…
Often when I start to struggle with laptimes I’m fighting the tires loading the car up way too much, personally.
I like 4-4 on csl.
When I had t300 I ran 3-10.
I will say-you lose no info at 4-4. There’s not much to be gained by using 10 imo except maybe a livelier wheel….

Bathurst is strange...Griffin's has loads of grip, but Chase and Murray's are slippery, Chase especially. Mediums are useless
 
But after one of the updates earlier in the year, I think they tweaked the Mustang's handling
I am starting to think you are right. I couldn't figure out how it would be done because every setting in the tuning section is unchanged. But I think I get it now.
I think they have moved the weight it has. Maybe lower COG

Not in a game I think... But it's a fairly famous track... Griffin's bend is the third corner, Chase and Murray's are second to last and last corner.
 
I was so psyched to do a few races but I can't even get close to a respectable qualify time. I give up. I haven't felt this discouraged since I first joined GTP, hat in hand, begging for help. But this race isn't worth my time so I bid you adieu until next week. There is no way I can do 9 clean laps with tire wear. I read through this thread and feel like I'm watching millionaires light cigars with burning hundred dollar bills and it's making me jealous and jealousy is a sin so good day.

All I know is the car magically transformed from hideously understeering Clydesdale to slightly more manageable barrel racing steed. It was the best of the American cars for handling DTS II early in the year. I didn't get to drive a couple of weeks ago when the combo came up.
 
Against the grain a bit here, but I have found Race C to be very clean and enjoyable so far. Two races last night and both were full of close, clean racing. It seems in my lobbies that people have accepted that you can’t overtake up and down the mountain (unless there’s a mistake or you get a really clear opportunity at Skyline).

I started p7 and p8 respectively. In the first I was comfortably on track for p4 entering the pits, only to get the pit entry wrong and get a reset. Lost 8 seconds and finished P8. Would have been p4 by 2 seconds otherwise.

In the second race I was p5 pressuring p4 when I got sideways out of Forrest Elbow. Lost about 4 seconds and finished p7 again. Again threw away a p4.

The most amazing thing is that I ended last weeks Le Mans dailies at my highest ever DR of 45.2k. I have been generally anchored around 32-35k. I was hoping for a gentle slide back to 35k over the next couple of weeks. I am 6 races into this week and my DR is UP to 45.5k. Not counting chickens just yet, but maybe A+ isn’t beyond me…

Sometimes a combo isn't for you. I wouldn't loose sleep over it. Maybe one of the other races is better for you. If not then you know you have a weakness. Maybe just hotlap the qualy time or pop onto the circuit experience and try and get the track into your memory banks with how Gr3 feel.

I dont think its you, as I said, I've done a bazillion laps at bathurst and usually on hards but even on softs I am a mess.

The only thing I would say is that Bathurst is a unique track. There are a few places where you can lose more than a second from what feel like very small mistakes. The upside is that you can gain a lot of time really quickly if you work out how to manage the key spots.

If you have the patience/desire for it, I’d suggest some hot lapping concentrating on Hell Corner, the esses and Forrest elbow. Small improvements in these could gain you 3-4 seconds in lap time.

There is enormous satisfaction in feeling like I’ve tamed the mountain. The work is worth it.

The mountain is where I am losing all my time. All other sectors, including the uphill, are going well. But the downhill is crazy hard. I've done what @OJBrit said and did the Circuit Experience, too. Seeing people lament their 2:01.x times is nuts.

I'm definitely losing all the time on the mountain. It's unbelievable how I can lose close to five seconds on that small section. Perhaps I'll try again tomorrow. If I can get a consistent 2:02.x I'll be very happy and I'll definitely race.

By the way, how is Race C treating your SR this week? This is also a concern of mine.
