Daily, weekly and monthly rivals

Today is a Pace Setter at Brands Hatch Indy in a Radical SR3-RS. A zippy little prototype, it can go through the turns here faster than you'd think. The back end gets very light under braking, though, so be careful where you hit the brakes or you'll slide the rears and lose a lot of speed.

Today is a Pace Setter at Ruapuna Park GP in an Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Just manage the understeer through the slow corners and be smooth to get a fast lap here. Be careful using the runoffs on the exits of the first couple of corners, as the track limits are very tight there and you can be dinged with just two wheels over the curb.

Today is a Hot Lap at Donington Park GP in a Renault Megane Trophy. For a fast lap, keep it nice and smooth through the faster corners, but a touch of trail braking, tyre-spinning, and rally driving can actually shave off a lot of time through the final hairpins. Just don't overdo it, or you'll end up facing the wrong way. You can also grab plenty of curb through the backstretch chicane without violating track limits, so be aggressive through there.

Today's Daily event is a Hot Lap at Oschersleben A in a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. A very fast Lambo, and quite well-balanced, with just a touch of understeer that can be countered with a little wheelspin. Fairly straightforward event; just time your acceleration properly in the long corners to hit the exit at top speed.

The new Weekly event is a fun one; a Hot Lap at Knockhill International in a Ford Escort RS1600 rally car. This car is a blast to fling around this short Knockhill layout. Don't be afraid to abuse those curbs and runoffs to straighten out all the chicanes as much as possible and get a good line out of the sharp corners here to keep that all-important momentum up.

Today is a Hot Lap at Fuji in a Toyota GR Supra Racing GT car. Pretty standard event, as the Supra is fairly tame; just hit your marks to keep your momentum up through the fast corners in the first two sectors and then be nice and smooth through the last technical sector and get a good run off the final corner for the long frontstretch.

Today is a Hot Lap at Hockenheimring GP in a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye. This car is a fat angry lump of wheelspin and inertia, and if you ask it to do something perfectly reasonable like drive around a corner, it'll just give you the double bird, slam its bedroom door, and crank up the death metal to earsplitting levels.

Today is a Pace Setter at Monaco in the Mercedes-Benz 190E DTM. The handling on this car is fairly neutral, with just a little oversteer, but it's also a bit floaty, so you need to be precise and plan your maneuvers a little early, and try not to get behind on your steering through the tight corners. Once you get in the zone you can put in some fast laps, but as always at Monaco, the line between fast and bouncing off the walls is razor thin.

Today is a Hot Lap at Bathurst in a Porsche 911 GT3 R. A very stable car, so you can be quite aggressive, especially on the uphill run. There are a couple spots on the downhill section where the rear can snap around under heavy braking, though, so be smooth and try to keep the drama there to a minimum.

Today is a Pace Setter at Porsche Leipzig Full Circuit in a Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette. An interesting car on this tricky technical track; it's definitely nimble enough to handle it, but you do have to be careful not to let that sudden torque peak at the top of the RPM range bite you, especially coming out of the slower corners.

Today's Daily event is a Pace Setter at Cadwell Park Woodland in the Civic Type R. This short twisty track makes for a fun drive in this car. Just remember that it's not a GT car; while it's nimble enough for an FWD street hot hatch, it's not going to take kindly to you flinging it about like you have a race-tuned suspension and gobs of downforce.

The new Weekly event is a Pace Setter at Mugello in a Koenigsegg Jesko. The Jesko is an odd one; mostly it's a fast but relatively tame hypercar, but then you hit 7000 RPM and it suddenly decides that it's bored with Italy and wants to go check out the south of France instead, which can be rather exciting when it happens in the middle of a corner.

Today is a Hot Lap at Lake Valley Outer Short in a Ginetta G55 GT4. A relatively slow car, so the key here is just being smooth; arc it gently through the wide corners and don't slow down too much for any of them. The laps here are very short (just over 30 seconds), so you might want to try some offline practice to work out the best lines, as your attempts go by quickly.

Today is a Hot Lap at Sugo GP in the C8 Corvette Stingray road car, in the rain. The perfectly balanced C8 handles the slippery conditions very well, though, so this is a fun event; it's easy to get into a good rhythm and just gently drift it across the apex of each corner. Just stay off the inside line on the last couple corners and there aren't really any problematic puddles to bother you.

Today is a Hot Lap at Havana Malecon Loop in a Lotus Type 40 Ford. This is a fun old sports car; light, loose, and fast, and Havana's wide streets give you plenty of room to hang the tail out as you power through the corners.

Today is a Hot Lap at Brno in a Lancer Evo VI Racing. Definitely not as exciting as the last couple events; Brno is a fast track and the Evo is pretty slow, so it's really just a matter of being smooth and not over-braking for all those long medium-speed corners. A touch of lift or trail braking entering the corners can induce a bit of extra rotation to counter the car's inherent understeer, but don't overdo it; you don't want to be sliding around or you'll end up scrubbing off too much speed, and you don't want to be braking or lifting late in the corner or you'll kill your exit speed.

Today is a Pace Setter at Watkins Glen International in a Pagini Zonda Revolucion. This car has some serious understeer here, to the point where even the AI almost smashes it into the wall coming out of the final corner before the start. It's a very stable car otherwise, though, so once you get used to the inability to turn, it's easy enough to run consistent laps.

Today's Daily event is a Hot Lap at Hockenheimring Short in the Lancer Evo VI on a fine summer morning in the... * checks notes * ...snow...? :odd: SMS's appalling grasp of western European weather aside, this event's pretty easy; the Evo VI actually seems to handle better on a slippery wet track than it does in the dry. The puddles in the latter half won't wreck you unless you do something really crazy, but they can still slow you down, so try to avoid 'em when possible.

The new Weekly event is a Pace Setter at Yaz Marina North Circuit in a Viper ACR. The Viper's not ideally suited to the tight twisty sectors in this layout, and the 80km/h start will really compromise your first lap, but it can do all right; just manage your gear changes properly to keep it from bogging down out of the tight corners.

Today is a Pace Setter at Not-Suzuka GP in a Porsche 919 Hybrid prototype. A crazy fast and incredibly grippy car; you can take the turns a lot faster than you think. Just be careful, as there are limits, and when you find them the car can get away from you without warning. Try to avoid trail braking especially, as it can unload the rear and cause snap oversteer. Make sure you have a decent fallback run in the bank before you really start pushing the limits.

Today is a Pace Setter at Zandvoort GP in a Jaguar XJR-9. A fun prototype, though it can be a bit skittish in the tight turns. Avoid the inside curbs at all costs; they're quite high and will bounce you straight off the track.

Today is a Hot Lap at Interlagos in an Audi TTS Racing. A fairly sedate car; it's really just about being smooth and hitting your marks. As usual with Interlagos, getting that first corner just right to maximise your exit speed out of turn two is key to a good lap.

Today is a Pace Setter at Zolder in an Aston Martin Vantage GT12. Brake nice and early to counter the understeer and it's easy enough to get a quick lap here.

Today is a Hot Lap at Watkins Glen Short in an Acura NSX road car. A nice stable car, but it does have a tendency to understeer if you miss the apex even by a small margin, so make sure you turn in early to keep it on line.

Today is a Hot Lap at Algarve in the Bugatti Chiron Sport. The car is way too heavy and the tyres have almost no grip, also the car feels quite insulated (floaty) and has no downforce whatsoever. A horrible combination, DNF.

Feck, I got busy and missed yesterday's event. I hate the Chiron anyway, though, so probably not such a bad thing... :dopey:

Today is a Hot Lap at Cadwell Park GP in a Renault Sport R.S. 01. A very tricky event, as this car is not tuned for the extremely bumpy Cadwell circuit at all, and if you hit a bump wrong you'll go flying into no man's land. Definitely try to stay off the curbs, as they'll just straight up wreck you most of the time.

New month starts today!

The Daily event is a Pace Setter at Mojave Cougar Ridge in a Honda Civic Type R Racing. A bit of a dull car/track combo, honestly, but not too difficult; just watch that little bit of FWD understeer in a few of the tight corners, especially entering the banked section.

The new Weekly event is a Hot Lap at Monaco in a Formula E, which is as tricky as it sounds. Just take it easy through the tight sections and don't bounce off the walls too much.

The new Monthly is a Pace Setter at Bahrain GP in a Toyota TS050, with another of those 80km/h starts. Bahrain is definitely a difficult track to get a handle on, with all those wide varying-radius corners. Don't forget to use your hybrid boost, which recharges under braking.

Today is a Pace Setter at the Daytona road course in a Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo. Nothing too difficult here; just keep the tail under you in the slow corners and straighten out the backstretch chicane as much as possible to get a fast lap.

Today is a Hot Lap at Tuscany Collina Town in a Ferrari Enzo. Fun car to throw around the windy Italian roads. As usual for Tuscany, be careful of those track limits and keep it within the bounds of the actual road, don't try to brake too late for those downhill switchbacks, and keep your momentum up with as little braking as possible on the uphill section.

Today is a Hot Lap at Bahrain Inner in a '66 Ford Mustang, in the rain. This car doesn't really mind the standing water, so it's just about arcing it through the corners just right to get the power down on exit in the slippery conditions.
