Yeah either Rocket just likes trolling with his release date or he seriously can't read a calendar.

Target date:

* Wednesday 25 July 2012 (GMT)
* Updated to Tuesday 24 July 2012 (GMT)

No problem Dust, we were really moving very slow, got bored too, watched tv in the meantime , normally we are a bit faster

Sorry for the location confusion. I though you guys were at least 2 clicks north of my travel route. But you guys were still going south-west while I was going west. My mistake.

And it's not that I don't want to play together, the moving is just so slow when travelling in a group of more than 5 people and I get bored easily. Was hoping I spotted a crash site more east, but no luck.

Yeah agreed we as a group need to create missions and follow them, and probably break into smaller groups and establish AOs. With 8-10 people it gets slow especially when someone takes a break and then another and then another (but not at the same time) so we end up waiting like 30 minutes.

As for running on your own, that's fine but you need to be on comms and make sure others know where you are, preferably establishing an AO well away from others so the comms is a non-issue except for AO updates. I.e. you should have been aware of our travel as we were broadcasting it pretty frequently, and you went East and we though we were good, but then you circled around to our west in front of our line of travel and surprised us. We just need to work it out, try new things, and become more efficient in group play and I think it will be more fun for all. Sorry for the excited comms there, I was about 10ms from killing you.

Was sometimes giving updates on what I was seeing, but didn't notice I had my mic muted. Happens a lot because I have teamspeak on auto-talk and if I don't want to speak for a longer time I press the mute button on my keyboard. That's also why it took me a moment to reply when I heard someone spotted a player running behind some trees.

New rule, only two persons at a time should head towards a chopper. So many zombies last night:p

PS. watch out, you will all probably have noticed by now that pistols/revolvers do less damage. Your trusted 1911 will not one-shot a zombie.

Went on a raid last night with a friend at the north west airfield, just as we approached the runway, we heard some shots from the barracks in the woods.
Some guy came running nearby the wall, running straight towards us.
I was about to fire of a round with my M107, but he went outside the wall.
Funny thing is that he came back on the inside of the wall, very close to where we had taken up positions.
Just as he came on the inside of the wall I fired of a quick shot, and hit him straight in the chest.
He never saw it coming... :D

Later that night we ran through Berezino, scavenging and looting for food, headed up to the north east airfield. Was thick fog all over the airfield so we lied down on the east side mountain side, just scouting.
About 15 mins later, we saw zombies respawning on the hangar furthest away. Ahh a player we said!!! :sly:

As he ran out from the 2nd hangar and towards the tower we saw he had a ghillie suit and thought "oh noes", but he never saw us.
He went into the tower and looted it, and when he came back down he ran out the door and straight towards me...
My friend was very close by him at the time and was about to take him out with the DMR, when I just said "🤬 it", and went for the shot.
Boom! Straight in the head... Awesome moment right there! :dopey:
Just as my friend was at the body to loot him, the server restarted.
He managed to see that the body had 2 ghillie suits, 2 x rangefinder, and a coyote backpack, among other things.

Lousy server admins!!!! Arghh :grumpy:

Yeah. the gun nerf sucks, it makes killing zombies that are chasing you 10 times harder.

It's even worse when there was a zombie army at that chopper. They actually put up a good fight.

It got kind of out of control for a few seconds. But in the end we got more loot, and had some alone time to unload a few rounds in stary.

Other than that it was kind of a boring day. I mean, I definitely enjoy the ops, but most of the time I've just been running around, geared to the teeth.

I guess i'm having death withdrawal. Feel like its about time to die, it has actually been quite a while since I died in game. I think Dom killed me last, and I just ran back to our tents and geared back up.

So tomorrow, I am gonna sweep for vehicles, again, gonna farm some vehicle supplies, including main rotor assemblies, and then I'm gonna toss my gear in one of those tents on the hill parallel to Ibo's camp, and hop in a high pop server.

That is if 1.7.2.4 doesn't drop, or walker does a practice, or I can't pass up some kind of clan op.

But if 1.7.2.4 comes out, I am begging someone in the clan for an AS-50, going heli hunting on restart, and probably gonna camp it out if I find one, until someone in the clan wants it, which will probably happen before I can even find a spot to set up.

I really need to see If my computer can run this, I've seen fair share playing it. It seems pretty interesting overall but I'll check in few hours if I can!

Yeah that weapon nerf kinda sucks, it effects more then just the m1911. It came down in the latest patch for Arma 2. People are complaining about it over on the dayzmod forum, will see if rocket does anything to adjust it or if he just leaves it alone.

Yeah, it need to be adjusted back. :dopey:

Sometimes a zombie takes 4-5 shots with a M1911 to the chest before it dies. :yuck:

To me it feels like it now depends more on where you hit them, combined with some sort of critical hit factor. Because I can still kill zombies with 1 shot of a M1911 without it being a headshot most of the time.

Still have to find my first tent. I'm probably going to adapt Fluid's idea of finding vehicles and parts.

If we end up being bored with 'end-game' then we should just drive over all our tents, stand in a circle, throw a grenade in our midst and start over. Actually semi serious.

Found 2 tents 2km south of camp Ibo yesterday.

Yeah we should get gear for cars and helis so we are all geared out when heli's are in it again.

I like that Zombies don't die first shot to the chest. it's way more realistic. Pop the head . When only headshots will kill them, then we can complain

I kind of like beeing geared out as now it comes to get the ballistics of all the bigger weapons right. Love my L85a2, made a fair amount of headshots yesterday with it :D

Also I think we should get rid of the clan tags as it really scares people off, and beeing alone in the server is very boring, fun for farming but missing PVP action

Stuff in camp Ibo has a lot of weapons for everybody, including HMG, AR, snipers,...

Yeah, need more PVP action. In hindsight I actually really enjoyed getting blown of the hospital roof in Berenzino. That was really cool. :)

And yeah, clan tags are cool. But not in this game.

I dont think we should, it was just because there were so many of us on at the same time and there isn't unsually that many of us on at once.

And can everyone wake up now, sitting on TS all by myself :(

No way I'm dropping my clan tag. I love the thought that it might actually cause people to hesitate.

"If I kill this guy, he may be part of =EZ= and there are five of them on. He will tell them right where he died.."

And I'm with Fluid. I need to die more. Someone said it best last night, "Home server doesn't mean the only server we play on." I may have taken creative license with that...

Another thing we could try is have dedicated people to do specific jobs (scouts, medics, etc..). This may give some of us a specific sense of purpose to our end-game goals.

Additionally, if we were to spread to other games if/when boredom becomes an issue, what games would spread to? My input would be Minecraft. It allows us to keep the open "sandbox" feel to our clan and build some cool stuff while we're at it.

Please throw out some suggestions!

Well, Arma II would be a good start seeing as you all have it already!

Other good co-op (if not so much sandbox) games:
  • Terraria, it's Minecraft except flat and more about combat, and there's an endgame - 8 players
  • Rainbow Six 3, Vegas and Vegas 2, 3 is quite realistic and tactical while Vegas and Vegas 2 are more arcadey but still quite challenging, 3 is the best though - 8 players for Rainbow Six 3, 4 players for Vegas and Vegas 2
  • Dead Island - 4 players
  • Alien Swarm, it's free and awesome! - 4 players
  • Killing Floor - 6 players
  • Borderlands (free until Sunday, cheap to buy right now) - 4 players
  • Left 4 Dead/L4D2 - 4 players
  • Ghost Recon, GR Advanced Warfighter and GRAW2 - Some players (I don't know)
  • Burnout Paradise? It has co-op challenges after all - 8 players
  • Grand Theft Auto IV has much sandboxiness - Loads of players I think (16?)
  • Just Cause 2 has a multiplayer mod in the works, that could be absolutely spectacular... No idea when it'll be finished though.
  • Battlefield 3, I know it's just an adversarial game with teams but if you always play in a squad together it's basically co-op against real people, and there's a two player co-op mode as well - 2 or more players
  • Saints Row: The Third may be good, I've not tried it - 2 players
  • Sniper Elite V2 - 2 players
  • Payday: The Heist - 4 players
  • Magicka, often on sale on Steam for very little money - 4 players
  • Sanctum, again, often on sale and always very cheap - 4 players

Here's a list of many, many more PC co-op games: Co-Optimus PC games list

There's lots more we can do in DayZ as mentioned. We have choppers coming so that is something we could try, as well as hostile takeover of another server (i.e. roll into Stary/NW on a different but full server and go for massive PVP). We could have sniping contests in elektro/cherno, try helping newbs/be medics, try banditry, setup a checkpoint/roadblock in balota... Once we have vehicles again we could also try motorized grid searching the whole map try try and find "all" the vehicles and setup a massive camp... and/or setup a camp maybe on the island (with some PBX)?

For me the funnest is PVP encounters, so going in other servers with a large squad sounds great. Up for this any time. If we do want more PVP action on our own server, removing our clan tags is obvious. I'm all for that.

For other games I like BF3 and L4D2. BF4 is coming eventually and we also may have The WarZ (another take on DayZ) coming by the end of the year, along with the DayZ stand-alone.

The only time I have been bored is when we do big groups like yesterday. We move too slow and there ends up being a lot of confusion.

I agree with walker honestly. There is a lot we can still do on our own server and I am for going into other servers with a group.

If there are any other games you guys want play just pm someone on steam or here and tell them you are hoping on if they wanted to play or something to that affect.

Another game mod we could play is Zombie Panic: Source for Half-Life 2.

True, the major big groups were a bit over the top. Think I sat about an hour or so near that chopper? You guys were only two clicks off. :P

I believethat the Alpha and Beta groupings were a pretty good solution. It's a shame team leaders can't set up a link with another teamleader who is in another TS channel, though. That would be excellent.
