I think (this is my opinion) anything with AT LEAST 600hp + would be considered a supercar. (not MODIFIED 600, DESIGNED with 600)
Mclaren F1 - BUILT to be the fastest car there is
Saleen S7 - BUILT to be the fastest car there is
Mosler MT900 - BUILT to be the fastest car there is
Lamborghini Mercielago - BUILT .....
you get the point....I consider a supercar as a car that had one thing in mind.....being
retarded fast.
I am a Viper freak myself, I have always loved that car and always will, even I have trouble defining it's rank.
It's easy to call it a supercar because of it's sheer speed (off the showroom floor capable of reaching ~190mph) and because of the low production numbers. but on the other hand it was built as a street car with tons of power....whereas the mclaren and such were built with track time in mind.
The lamborghini Merc is up there in my mind because it was designed to go
retarded fast, and very few were built.
oh and as to whoever said that skylines are supercars? I will argue that...
cars like those are built and designed as "sports cars" and can be
MODIFIED to be quite fast cars.....but it's still a skyline, it's still a sports car with work done to it.....
a supercar to me is a car researched, built, designed and solely created to be as fast as possible, without holding back...
(can you recall that the McLaren F1's engine compartment has a full 24K Gold heat shield? $ is not an issue with supercars, that's why there are so few built, and that is how they get their title as supercars)
Anyone agree with me?
