It seems the system really does need a bit of work still (sorry about the music not much i can do as i recorded it using obs)

Nope on both. Main thing you did wrong was slowing down after you got them, if you get a penalty just carry on as normal and it'll gradually go down, only slow down for it if you can't lose it before the finish.

They were both harsh penalties for there being no real intent, the 2nd could have been avoided if you used the radar.
You do realise you can scrub penalties? don't slow down, run the lap normally and chances are your penalty will rub off unless you are hot lapping.

The first one yes you bumped him off the track the second one no

1st - Yes but like 1 second.

2nd - no way >_<

First one no, that was the red car in front of the black ones fault.
Second one, yes. You where not aware of your surroundings, use the proper radar next time and you would know if you would have to do corrections to your line

Second one wasn't remotely his fault, the Megane just floored it for some reason running wide, tapping him on the way, and then drove off track. The Megane had plenty of room on the inside and @GTSeriesVids had nothing to do with him going off.

This is in my opinion the the main reasons that people do not worry about getting penalties for contact or cutting corners as in many cases the penalty has no negative effect and just disappears over race distance.

If all penalties were assessed post race to the results then people would not be so quick to make racing moves which could result in a penalty being handed out and getting a penalty would have more impact than the current system.

I would like to say the first one, no. You can see him using the brakes. Maybe a bit late but then again, we ain't no F1 drivers.

Second one also no, he went wide and pushed you to the outside. Nothing you could do there.

I agree but they need to improve the penalty system first before increasing the severity of the penalties, if that's not possible the best keep it as it is.

First one was avoidable. I almost always make sure people are not in my line when I brake by moving off the line. That way when the inevitable happens and they brake earlier or harder than me or collide with the person in front of them then they are not in my line.

Second one may have been avoidable with radar and some stellar awareness but it is clearly is not your fault.

The system is in my opinion not black and white. Even dough the Megane was the source of this incident he still have responsibility to try to dodge or make adjustments to his line if other racers ****s up. 10 seconds was way to harch, but still

the first one I would have hung back a bit further expecting something to happen between them, but I felt it unfortunate that the #13 changed his mind in the corner, I expected him to follow #12 not move into your path.
yeh the second one with the megane coming so fast up the inside, i would have braked sooner let him pass and then turned in shorter.
I wonder if the megane was hoping to 'wall ride' you.

The first was harsh but then again, I would have given the two cars jostling for position a bit more room. They were off the line and had to slow more, leaving you nowhere to go.

The 2nd has to be your fault as you didn't know how close the Megane was without the radar on.

10 seconds is a chunky penalty for both though.

That second one is a good meme for how the penalty system works quite often when people are in the middle/back of the pack. I hope it gets fixed somehow.

You don't deserve any of those penalties. GT sport's system is kinda bad... But hey, it's better than other games.

The only thing I'm not sure of is why we need a new thread every time someone has a bad race or gets penalties. We get it, the system is faulty and we all get peed off with it but you know what? . . . There's nothing any of us can do and clogging up the boards with all these threads is getting very tiresome, more so than the penalties in question.

you could just... Not look at them. It's the internet, no one is forcing you to click on these and read them....

Very true! But hard to escape them when every other topic is a rant about penalties or ramming!

That's true. These are big problems. Personally, what would fix all this, implementing races where everyone ghosts through everyone. There's no fun in that though....

I did once think that myself but then it's hardly a race - all racing techniques are gone. No, it just needs the idiots to calm down and realise the race can't be won on the first corner and for the victims to realise that there's nothing we can do about it - and not report about it on here!

I think this video shows exactly what is wrong with the penalty system, on the first one it was the black cars fault. It choose the inside, but decided during braking to change its line. Also it was just a light tap with no intent as you where braking and keeping your line. Also there was no advantage gained or positions lost. So why such a harsh penalty? The second one was the Megane's fault as it was going to fast to make the corner, maybe if you saw him coming you could try to brake a bit earlier and undercut him on the inside.

I agree but they need to improve the penalty system first before increasing the severity of the penalties, if that's not possible the best keep it as it is.

I totally agree assessing and the handing out of the penalties needs some major work.

But even now the elimination of the scrubbing off the penalties in race should be dropped and all penalties be post race. Even now the innocents are being punished but the dirty racers currently not only do not have any incentive to drive clean as they can rid themselves of the penalties during the race they are still rewarded with higher finishes and more rewards in XP and DR increases.

Just making a few changes that for any lap a penalty is incurred that that the penalized driver is not eligible for any positive SR points to be accumulated until after a full lap from the point of the penalty has been run.

SR points will only be awarded for clean full laps rather than clean sectors as currently done.

All penalty times accumulated in race will be assessed to the final standing times and positions.

Just those changes will do a lot to run the dirty or out of control drivers back to the lower ranks resulting in the higher ranks having fewer incidents per event as it should be.

These are changes that would not take a lot of new code or changes to apply so should be able to be done quickly if so desired by PD.

First one definitely yes. You didn't even brake when you hit him and he ran wide. He had the right of way regardless and was racing for position.

Nope on both. Main thing you did wrong was slowing down after you got them, if you get a penalty just carry on as normal and it'll gradually go down, only slow down for it if you can't lose it before the finish.
Yeah i could have kept going but i know but as it was early in the race i felt i could catch back up fairly quickly which i did finished 11th in the 1st race and managed 6th in the 2nd somehow.

I feel i could have done a little better in both incidents but i just feel the 10 second penalty is a bit too much maybe a 5 second penalty and SR drop for the 1st i don't think i would have minded too much but i feel the 2nd penalty was out of my control i did intend on slowing down and allowing him to go off himself but i turned in a little to early and grazed his bumper it's seems the system judged i was to blame for him going off

I knew exactly where the megane was i saw him in my mirror look at my speed before i turn into the corner my intention was to allow him to go past and go off but i turned in a fraction too early but no way was it worth a 10 second penalty absolutely no way

1st incident i could have done better but again was it really bad enough to give me a 10 second penalty?

Someone can ram me off the road from behind at high speed and I get an SR down but you lightly tap a guy from behind and get a 10 sec penalty.

Whatever logic the game is using to dish or not dish out these penalties it sucks.

I agree with you all - with various inputs - but how about when I'm just trying to get a few laps of Clean Races..... and the computer itself (before the Start of the Race begins run you into another car in front of you without my control!!??? Then I got a WHITE S!! After 5 clean races - that made me "slightly" aggravated.....
