Oh, it's nothing like that. Unfortunately, the video hasn't shown properly, but you can clearly see the presenter making dozens of corrections with the wheel - so much so that he had to turn force feedback off for fear of destroying the wheel.

It was the same on Dirt 2, lots of sawing at the wheel and being on dirt the feedback is constant and quite mental if you turn it up. That being said my G25 held up just fine with the abuse it took, including the feedback of Aldo ploughing into my car, so I wouldn't be to worried dependant on the wheel. It's a pretty difficult game to play on wheel and be fast (and not crash!) but it is rewarding and entertaining, outside of full sims I find it by far the best game on a wheel.
 
I'll be using my DFGT, it'll at least give me a reason for being rubbish, but I'll be turning the FFB down...it's never sounded the same after the few Dirt 2 online sessions I did!

I'll be setting the e brake (and reverse) to the gear lever so I can be just like Ken Block, my efforts of making a replica billet lever out of playdoh haven't gone well though...

Yep it is very tough using the wheel.
I think for the long nights ahead ?I shall be suing my pad as I don't think he likes the sound of my wheel at like 2am. Can't understand why tbh :indiff:
But yes, very fun with the wheel! Especially for crashing into people...

It looks similar to what I'm used to on the rally stages (and trailblazer), on the gymkhana however there will be much more to deal with I'm sure.

Probably by driving recklessly in the sense that you punish the tyres, then you'll have to nurse the car to the end of the stage.
 
I played the first game, it was pretty good. Didn't play the second. I really liked F1 2010 and GRID, so I'm willing to give this a shot.
 
Just placed my pre-order on ShopTo, however i'm not familiar with the site and would like to know if there's any reason for me to pre-pay, and/or when I will have to pay if I don't pay now (automatically?)

TBH Apart from pretty fun online in custom races, you didn't miss much. This game seems like it will be best of both. Get it for sure.
 
I await 7 different complaints about the game in this thread when people get their hands on it (none of them will be coming from me).

Usually they take funds out of your account when they ship a preorder. It'll probably be the same for Shopto.
I think I just paid it though.
Either way, it's only like 6 days difference, :p
 
The difference? Well, it's there for people who won't have the funds till the game is ready to be dispatched. I pay on the spot then check account, it's easier to do it then than later and forget!
 
A really itneresting article on how to score a video game. I'm a high school English teacher myself, and film is one of my favourite areas to teach within my subject. One of the big things I stress to my students is the way sound is one of the most powerful sensory responses; a score can make or break a film (THE DARK KNIGHT, for example, has a fantastic score; WATCHMEN has a horrible one) because it's the audience's emotional cue. It lets you know what the characters and film-makers are thinking. I've never really thought about how this works in a video game, but reading the article, I find it really fascinating.

Just checked out 👍 I was more asking for future reference then anything else, like if paying now moved me up the queue if stocks were low (though I suspect D3 isn't THAT popular anyway).
 
It doesn't really work like that. When you pre-order a game, your name is added to a queue. When all the pre-orders are in, the store will count them and make sure they receive enough copies to cover that number.
 
Also the higher up the queue the quicker your order is processed. Also, I wouldn't state that DIRT3 is going to be that unpopular! May not match their F1 sales, but it's a pretty good seller and I think 3 is going to be much bigger than 2.

That's not how it works in Australia. If you pre-order a game, you're put into a queue. You can either pay it off when you may the order, when you go to the store to get the game, or pay it off in installments. There is no priority system, because your pre-order guarantees you a copy.

It's not COD though is it, popular for the genre it will be but in the grand scheme it's not considered a triple A release. That's what I was getting at.

How it works with ShopTo, not that it makes any difference, you'll still probably get it before release day. Everything I've got from them has arrived before official release date (normally just a day, but a day nonetheless!). Likewise, a pre-order guarantees you a copy from most on-line ships over here.

Drag - Of course it's not MW2 standards, but when you pay doesn't make any difference, it's when you order that places you in the queue, though I don't think the position in the queue makes any difference. They're probably sending the DIRT 3 orders out Friday judging by the blurb on their DIRT 3 page, so most of it will all be done. I think they have something that if you don't get the game on release day with a pre-order you get £3 on your account (or something like that).
