True, i'll pay a fver for say 2 tracks & about 8-10 cars.Does that sound better Shirakawa ?.
See, my take on this is that DLC is purely optional - nobody is making people buy anything. If you don't want it, or don't like the price, don't buy it. There is certainly no need to go buying everything just because it is for a game you like, and no need to feel sorry for yourself if you "would like it" but decide not to buy it for whatever reason. Likewise, if you do go buying everything and spend hundreds more on the game over time, you only have yourself to blame.Yes, as long as they're free, or they don't cost outrageous prices as with other games.
Even 1$/car is too much, considering the content included with GT5.
I'm all for "packs" or "expansions", not for individual downloads made to rip off people (by making them paying the game hundreds of dollars over time, rather than all at once. That's like slow poison vs a backstab). In the case of GT5 it also has to considered that there might be tracks/cars that one might have never considered using until trying them out, and surely (at least sane/normal people) people don't usually throw money on DLC randomly just to try something.
Sorry for the general tone of my message. I really hate what DLC have become over time.

If DLC is free, then YES! just like with GT5-P or TT.
But paid DLC...?! FORGET IT! Count me out...
Interestingly. So even easier, because often some car don't need...and I'd be more than happy to pay £1 per car if you could choose them individually instead of in packs.
If 3 or 5 cars should be free, why should 40 or 50 cost money? By your logic, any number of premium cars should be free. I guess this is why some people are successful in business and others are not!small dlc with 3 or 5 premium cars should be for free!

"Here you go sir, we spent 6 months modelling this car for you, but here, have it for nothing"...
Mb do 2 pack-version. Small and advanced - first free, second - premium. If 3 or 5 cars should be free, why should 40 or 50 cost money? By your logic, any number of premium cars should be free. I guess this is why some people are successful in business and others are not!

analogMaybe keeping the existing customers happy and loyal to the series
I would pay for it if the price is not too high!
because every year a lot of new cars come on the market and with DLCs you have the possibility to integrate them and keep the game up to date!
Yep, very good point - sponsored content from a particular manufacturer could certainly be offered for free. I never said that all DLC will be paid, just the vast majority of it. I fully expect there to be some free DLC direct from PD/SONY to keep fans sweet, but when I am asked to pay for it, I will not be too disappointed when I see that it costs £1 or whatever per car, or £5 for a new track for example. What if the car manufacturer paid PD partly for including their newly released car model by DLC?
Or what if more people buy GT5 simply for realising it offers free DLC?
Maybe keeping the existing customers happy and loyal to the series in the long run is an argument for offering free DLC?
Business has different models and strategies, it's not that clear cut.
Well, I hate to add to the flame but there are a few things that are left out and not thought about. 1 being: If PD create any new car for what ever reason, someone has to pay for the licensing fee to create that car. Unless the DLC is sponsored by some company I really do not see a whole lot of free DLC in 2011
i doubt there'll be any dlc, since kaz said, there wont be any
i think he'll focus on gt6 to release it with things that's gonna be missed in gt5 for example cockpit view and porsches
dave_sz is this the quote you're after.
The creator of Sony's Gran Turismo franchise, Kazunori Yamauchi, has hinted in a recent interview that there will be no DLC for Gran Turismo 5 when it releases next year.
When asked about the racing games possible DLC, this is what he had to say:
"Let me be clear on this. There is a massive amount of content in this game, I don't think there are many teams that can put as much into a game as we can."
"The launch of the game isn't a start, we are releasing the full game."
"Everything we want to put in the game is on the disc when it ships, having said that, we do have a sizable online team that will look after it once it's launched."
Looks like the only updates you will need for GT5 will be in the form of online patches. Which if you ask me, is really good news.
