Do you dot your i's when you write?

I'd say about 90% of the time I do not dot the i. The only time when I consistently dot the i is in an equation that has one in it.

Of course I dot them. I have a bad habit of dragging my pen, though, because I'm lefty (althought I think it contributes to my handsome style). You won't believe how many times people think the i's in my last name are r's, when, clearly, the R in my first name is completely different.

I don't dot my eyes. I started my career in the days of hand drafting, and so I lettered in all capitals. However, I didn't like how that looked in general correspondence, so I developed a lower case lettering style as well. In that I didn't dot my i's either. Too many extraneous marks clutter up a drawing, and i dots were part of that clutter.

As an aside, my script handwriting has always been miserable but my printing (all caps or caps/smalls) used to be quite neat. Since the advent of computers and PDAs my printing has gone totally down the drain.

I do, but my handwriting is often so sloppy the dots won't appear over the 'i', and they have a tendancy to turn into horizontal dashes over the word. Letters also tend to disappear into each other when I write.

I really hate that but I don't know why. I think it might be because the handwriting is normally very neat and the circles make the text look messy.

Otherwise people may start thing I'm trying to draw a 'u' sd my wirting sometimes has random peaks in it.

On the whole though my handwriting has been described as "scruffy but legible".

Yeah, that bothers me, they might put smiley faces (3 that I know of) Circles (Every damn girl in my school) Or hearts, ( Lovey Dovey BS)


No, I do not dot mine, I write in the Pseudo-script writing where I almost never lift the pencil more than a millimeter of the paper when I write, when I write, its VERY fast, but VERY messy. All the very smart kids, and the very stoopid kids have sloppy writing - In my school atleast.

My writing is very neat, and I take pride in that. So yes, of course I dot my i's. Only problem is, I write very, very small. I can fit more on a page writing than typing.

I find it looks neat and organized with a little dot on top of the i's.

As well as not dotting them, when writing them as a capital letter, I also don't cross the top and bottom!

Generally I do, but it largely depends on who I am writing for, and how much time I have to do it. My handwriting usually turns out as an odd mix of cursive and regular print, so I've pretty much created my own characters for words like "the" and "its" and often times seem to forget to dot my 'i' and cross the 't,' but I normally catch it.

...My former German Professor used to get very cross with me over my style of writing. I can't help it. I don't think it is that bad, but apparently her East-German standards were too high...

It's probably better if the paper is lined. But the quality goes down with the thickness of the tip. My Biro writing is barely legible.
