How I think Night 2 will end:

Cena remains a face and retains. After the match, he and Cody hug. Camera zooms to Cody's face as he gives the look. They pull from the hug and Cody low-blows Cena. He beats him down and stands over him. Rock's music hits. He comes up to Cody and they handshake.

How about ewww gross it's named in the Vince McMahon lawsuit Brock Lesnar

Honestly, I respect the decision to axe John Cenas heel turn and have the match play completely straight.

It is another bad footnote in the story worth criticising but it's more of a symptom to the problem of Cena's heel run than the actual problem itself and are willing to just cut their losses and end it right there instead of stubbornly playing it out, trying to get it to work or do some kind of swerve and I have to respect any writer that sees that a bad idea is unsalvagable and sweeps it under the rug as quickly as possible

And this way all the rest of John Cena's nostalgia bait matches are much more tolerable since it has the self awareness to be just that and not take away from any potential WWE Championship storylines.

Brock Lesnar's return shocked everyone, he is still mentioned in the Janel Grant indictment but its been reported that WWE Legal cleared him a month ago, Triple H implied after that Cena asked to face him during his retirement run but I don't think Brock's return is going to go down well.

I thought the match was really good and much better than their Mania match, I'm glad that Rhodes didn't turn heel and that Cena stayed a face throughout, Rhodes winning back the title was the only title change of the night, Cena's title reign lasted for 105 days.

I expected night tow to be better than night one but I'm not sure that it was. Naomi retained her title in a good opener, the six team TLC match was predictably chaotic with WYATT SICKS retaining, the women's IC title match was good with Bayley causing Becky Lynch to win, the steel cage match was a bit meh with Talla Tonga helping Solo to win, the men's IC title match was also a bit meh with Dom cheating to win by loosening he boot.

Summerslam Saturday
  • Kross
  • Bliss/Flair
  • Cargill
  • Orton/Jelly Roll
  • The Brons
  • Gunther

Summerslam Sunday
  • Wyatts
  • Styles
  • Solo
  • Valkyria
  • Naomi
  • Cena
Welp, got one right for Saturday and 3 for Sunday...

Not much announced for Raw tonight, the only advertised match so far is Sheamus v Rusev III.

It looks like Gunther will be out for while, he needs surgery on his nose and the match angle where he got 'busted open' and he held his nose is a way to write him off TV, no idea how long he will be out just yet. I really don't think he got opened up properly, it looked like he grabbed something from underneath the Spanish announce table which could have been a blade or a blood capsule, considering it 2025 I think its the latter.

SummerSlam should not have been two nights, it didn't feel like a big enough show to be held over two nights and a few of the matches could've easily been on Raw or Smackdown. Also I think the venue was too big, MetLife has a capacity of around 82,000 and selling out both nights or even one night would have been ambitious so it was no surprise that neither night was close to a sell out, why didn't they just use a smaller 60,000 venue?!

Raw was a bit average last night but was headlined by Rollins defending his title v LA Knight, it went to a DQ after Punk got involved and attacked Rollins and then The Vision (the faction finally has a name!) took out Punk and Knight, they also took Roman Reigns out when he tried to make the save and they all stood tall at the end of the show.

Becky Lynch had a great line about John Cena and Nikki Bella during their promo segment, Sheamus and Rusev got double counted out and then brawled backstage throughout the show.

New PLE deal, in 2026 WWE PLEs will be going to ESPN in US markets from Peacock. International are unaffected and remain on Netflix.

If its like UFC, these will be ESPN+ only which is a $30 subscription.

I know the streaming market is self imploding but soon in the US it won't be any different than the old PPV days

As an Australian, my main gripe with 2 Nights it defeats a huge benefit of PLEs going to Saturdays.

Before the transition to Saturdays, PLEs were on a Monday in the morning/afternoon for us, most can't watch it live due to work or school. The best PLE experience was just to read the results when we got home (or lunch break). Going to Saturdays is a huge deal for us as that means it's a Sunday afternoon thing to do.

Two nights means we only get half and not the juicy second half with the actual main event which we're back to square one for.

ESPN will be the new home of WWE PLE's in the US from 2026, taking over from the Peacock deal.

Edit tree'd by Com Fox hours ago!

WWE Speed is apparently done, it was the thing on X where it was three-minute matches in a tournament to become men's and women's Speed champions, not that many people were engaged with it so that's probably why its been dropped, NXT's Sol Ruca is the last women's champion and she was still wearing the belt on Tuesday, the last men's champion is El Grande Americano...the Chad Gable version and not the current Ludwig Kaiser version.

2025 Stardom 5Star Grand Prix standings

RED STARS A:
• Saya Kamitani (10 points) (5-0)
Remaining: v.s Mei Seira, v.s Bea Priestley

• Mei Seira (7 points) (3-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Saya Kamitani, v.s Azusa Inaba

• Bea Priestley (6 points) (3-2)
Remaining: v.s Saya Kamitani, v.s Lady C

• Hanan (5 points) (2-2-1)
Remaining: v.s Yuna Mizumori, v.s Lady C

• Lady C (4 points) (2-2)
Remaining: v.s Hanan, v.s Waka Tsukiyama, v.s Bea Priestley

• Azusa Inaba (4 points) (2-3)
Remaining: v.s Mei Seira, v.s Waka Tsukiyama

• Yuna Mizumori (2 points) (1-4)
Remaining: v.s Hanan, v.s Waka Tsukiyama

• Waka Tsukiyama (0 points) (0-4)
Remaining: v.s Yuna Mizumori, v.s Lady C, v.s Azusa Inaba

• Predicted outcome: Saya Kamitani wins the block, with Mei Seira and Hanan as runner-ups. Hanan’s path to advance would require:
◦ winning out AND Bea not winning out OR
◦ winning v.s Lady C to ensure a potential tiebreaker AND Bea Priestley going no better than 0-1-1 as Hanan has the head-to-head win

RED STARS B:
• Rina (8 points) (4-1)
Remaining: v.s Starlight Kid, v.s Natsupoi

• Natsuko Tora (8 points) (4-1) (lost tiebreaker to Rina)
Remaining: v.s Starlight Kid, v.s Tomoka Inaba

• AZM (7 points) (3-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Sayaka Kurara, v.s Rian

• Starlight Kid (5 points) (2-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Natsupoi, v.s Natsuko Tora, v.s Rina

• Natsupoi (4 points) (2-2)
Remaining: v.s Starlight Kid, v.s Rian, v.s Rina

• Tomoka Inaba (2 points) (1-3)
Remaining: v.s Sayaka Kurara, v.s Rian, v.s Natsuko Tora

• Sayaka Kurara (2 points) (1-4)
Remaining: v.s AZM, v.s Tomoka Inaba

• Rian (0 points) (0-4)
Remaining: v.s AZM, v.s Natsupoi, v.s Tomoka Inaba

• Predicted outcome: Toss-up as any of the top five could advance in any combination of three, so I defer to my favorite. Thus, Rina wins the block with AZM and Natsupoi as runner-ups

BLUE STARS A:
• Ami Sohrei (6 points) (3-1)
Remaining: v.s Miyu Amasaki, v.s Bozilla (HELL YEAH TO MORE BIG STRONG WOMEN DOING STRONG WOMAN THINGS), v.s Yuria Hime

• Bozilla (6 points) (2-0-2)
Remaining: v.s Saya Iida (HELL YEAH 4’ 9” POWERHOUSE V.S 5’ 11” POWERHOUSE), v.s Aya Sakura, v.s Ami Sohrei

• Saori Anou (5 points) (2-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Aya Sakura, v.s Ruaka, v.s Yuria Hime

• Ruaka (3 points) (1-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Miyu Amasaki, v.s Saori Anou, v.s Aya Sakura, v.s Yuria Hime

• Miyu Amasaki (3 points) (1-2)
Remaining: v.s Saya Iida, v.s Aya Sakura, v.s Ami Sohrei, v.s Ruaka

• Saya Iida (2 points) (1-2)
Remaining: v.s Miyu Amasaki, v.s Aya Sakura, v.s Bozilla, v.s Yuria Hime

• Aya Sakura (2 points) (1-1)
Remaining: v.s Saya Iida, v.s Miyu Amasaki, v.s Saori Anou, v.s Bozilla, v.s Ruaka

• Yuria Hime (0 points) (0-3)
Remaining: v.s Saya Iida, v.s Saori Anou, v.s Ami Sohrei, v.s Ruaka
Side note: hilariously, Yuria Hime is TECHNICALLY still in play to get an outright win in Blue Stars A. She’d have to:
  • win out, 8 points and head-to-head wins v.s Ami Sohrei and potentially Saori Anou
  • Ami Sohrei, at best, goes 1-2
  • Saori Anou, at best, goes 1-1-1
  • Bozilla, at best, goes 0-2-1 as she has the head-to-head v.s Yuria
  • BASICALLY NOBODY BESIDES AMI SOHREI AND SAORI ANOU CAN SCORE MORE THAN 7 POINTS FOR THIS MADMAN BOOKING TO HAPPEN OKAY; I MEAN, TARO OKADA MADE TWO UNBREAKABLE TIES HAPPEN LAST YEAR SO I CAN HOPE FOR SOMETHING AS INSANE THIS YEAR

• Predicted winners: Bozilla wins the block, Ami Sohrei and Saori Anou runner-ups

BLUE STARS B:
• Momo Watanabe (8 points) (4-0)
Remaining: v.s Sareee, v.s Hina, v.s HANAKO

• Suzu Suzuki (5 points) (2-1-1)
Remaining: v.s Sareee, v.s Konami, v.s Ranna Yagami

• HANAKO (5 points) (2-0-1)
Remaining: v.s Sareee, v.s Momo Watanabe, v.s Hina, v.s Konami

• Sareee (4 points) (2-1)
Remaining: v.s Suzu Suzuki, v.s Momo Watanabe, v.s HANAKO, v.s Momo Kohgo

• Konami (2 points) (1-3)
Remaining: v.s Suzu Suzuki, v.s HANAKO, v.s Momo Kohgo

• Ranna Yagami (2 points) (1-3)
Remaining: v.s Suzu Suzuki, v.s Hina, v.s Momo Kohgo

• Hina (2 points) (1-2)
Remaining: v.s Momo Watanabe, v.s HANAKO, v.s Momo Kohgo, v.s Ranna Yagami

• Momo Kohgo (0 points) (0-3)
Remaining: v.s Sareee, vs Hina, v.s Konami, v.s Ranna Yagami
Side note again: hoping for a win v.s Sareee as “literal former actress” Kohgo defeating “anti-idol culture in wrestling” Sareee writes itself in tournament scenarios

• Predicted winners: Suzu Suzuki wins the block, Sareee and Momo Watanabe runners-up

That would end the block stage as start the single-elimination round.
The way it’d break down this year is:

• winners of each block get a bye to the next round
• Blue Stars B 2nd place v.s Blue Stars A 3rd, winner faces Blue Stars A winner
• Blue Stars A 2nd v.s Blue Stars B 3rd, winner faces Blue Stars B winner
• Red Stars A 2nd v.s Red Stars B 3rd, winner faces Red Stars A winner
• Red Stars B 2nd v.s Red Stars A 3rd, winner faces Red Stars B winner

Therefore, we’d arrive at:
Saya Kamitani, Rina, Bozilla, Suzu Suzuki all get byes
• Sareee v.s Saori Anou
• Ami Sohrei v.s Momo Watanabe
• Mei Seira v.s Natsupoi
• AZM v.s Hanan

Predicting:
• Saree advances to face Bozilla
• Watanabe advances to face Suzu Suzuki
• Natsupoi advances to face Kamitani
• Hanan advances to face her baby sister Rina

Quarter-finals
• Sareee advances
• Watanabe advances
• Natsupoi advances
• Hanan advances

Semifinals
• Sareee goes on (and continues the side storyline of Momo Watanabe being the perpetual figurative bridesmaid in big match situations)
• Hanan over Natsupoi

Finals:
• Hanan over Sareee

John Cena's babyface return got a huge ovation in Montreal for Smackdown, the place became completely unglued and the reaction and chants were so loud, Cena just looks for more comfortable in this role as well and you could see he was enjoying himself again. I think his heel run has to go down as a failure but I wouldn't say it was a waste of time, they tried something and it didn't work.

Cena's next opponent is Logan Paul which will be at Clash In Paris at the end of the month, so they are holding the Lesnar thing back for something, Cena and Cody Rhodes took on Paul and Drew McIntyre in a superstar tag team main event which went to a DQ after Paul low blowed Cena, Drew Claymore'd Cody through the announce table after so it looks like Cody's first challenger for his new title reign will be Drew McIntyre.

Its quite sad about Karrion Kross but his time on the main roster never really lived up to his time on NXT, he was brilliant on there and was a proper bad-ass, but he never seemed to get going on the main roster, I think he'll be back though.

Maybe not a waste of time, but it was probably a big waste of revenue since sales of Cena merch likely fell right off once the novelty of him going heel wore off, not to mention losing out on any advertising deals that would have featured him. Not exactly a good look to present to their TKO overlords, I would think.

That aside, it seems to just highlight that Hogan's heel turn vs Cena's were really quite different below the surface, as much as people tried to draw parallels between them. Hogan's heel turn worked because he was in a different company and the fans had just started to turn on him, so you could at least understand why he would reject the WCW crowd as they weren't the same Hulkamaniacs that idolized him in years prior. Cena spent the better part of a decade in WWE championing the message of "don't let the haters get to you", even actively clowning around with them at times, and then he comes back after a few years of semi-retirement when those haters have since moved on and NOW it's suddenly grinding his gears that they didn't like him back then? Yeah, nah. Sorry, nah.

He seemed to fall into the same trap that a lot of guys fall into, namely that he got stuck into a stable and just never had the ability to stand out on his own. He never seemed to be treated as much more than just "Henchman #3", which is a shame but it's also is par for the course when creative can't think of anything useful for someone to do.

The thing with Kross is they had the gimmick for him as the devil in peoples ear (and actually helped convince a lot of heel turns), and people were adoring it and found the build up to heel turns more engaging.

WWE just decided to leave the money on the table (aside from merch sales which apparently there was a lot of) and rather get money elsewhere instead of capitalising on Kross's character.

If in ring ability was a concern, he works as backstage/manager character in this role easily.

Wouldn't he benefit from joining Seth's group?

Seth has an aesthetic problem of too many big monster dudes, Kross would make it worse. Bron and Bronson are already struggling to stand out on their own and just seem Seths big meaty bodyguards.

Advertised for Raw tonight.

CM Punk will open the show
Sami Zayn v Rusev
Becky Lynch v Maxxine Dupri
Naomi v IYO Sky-women's world title match.

Naomi vs. Iyo Sky is no longer happening. Naomi is not medically cleared.

People are speculating she's pregnant but it could be injury or just a storyline

I mean... Rikishi has been encouraging Jimmy and Naomi to start a family...

Michael Cole mentioned the Naomi injury at the top of the show last night, Naomi wasn't on the show which tells me this is legit and not storyline but there is no word on what the injury is or the extent of it, or if she even is injured at all.

IYO had a match with Roxanne Perez instead which was really good and Perez actually won with a roll-up, its IYO's first singles loss since February. As well as defending against IYO last night Naomi also has a title defense against Stephanie Vaquer scheduled for Clash In Paris.

The main event last night was CM Punk and LA Knight v The Brons, its predicably went to a DQ when Rollins attacked Punk, Adam Pearce then made a fatal four way for the World title at Clash In Paris with Seth defending against Punk, Knight and Jey Uso.

The Becky Lynch-Maxxine Dupri match ended up being a women's IC title match which Lynch won, there was a great Bayley video package in which she appeared to be vulnerable and alone.

So currently WWE has no PLE scheduled in September, Clash In Paris is on August 31th and then its Crown Jewel in Perth on October 11th.

It is rumored that WWE will announce a show for September 20th which will go up against AEW All In, apparently it will take place in Indianapolis and its where Cena v Lesnar will headline, Lesnar has been announced for Smackdown dates on the 12th and the 19th of September to fuel the rumors.
