So in regards to custom (PAK) liveries, are they intended to be standalone or do you have to sacrifice an existing skin? I've downloaded a couple and in both cases they've overwritten the default livery, was wondering if I messed something up or if that was by design...
They replace an existing livery. Same as the .pak Driver Suit skins. Works in the exact same way. Just download, Extract, and place the .pak file in the paks folder of the game.

steamapps > common > EA WRC > WRC > Content > paks

Take the .pak file out of the paks folder and the original livery will return.

@Dreadmed

I'd recommend creating a folder on your desktop to extract all the files too. That way you can hold multiple liveries for each car and it's easy to swap them out without having to re-download them Etc.

If I want to swap out for example a Loeb Xsara livery for a Petter Solberg one all I have to do is delete the Loeb livery from the paks folder and c&p the Petter one in. If you ever want to go back to the Loeb it's still in your unpack folder, No need to go on overtake.gg and download again.

------

Other than Liveries and Driver Suits. Here are some of the other cool things you can do with just adding to the paks file folder -

Sorry about the double post but I thought this would be useful to some people. I've seen a few people in the thread still yet not owning the game.

EA WRC 24 is 72% off on Steam for DiRT Rally 2 owners... What a deal

Handily, If you don't somehow own DR2 by now its
steamwebhelper_KRdeVSYYob.png

That's £12.98 for DiRT Rally 2.0* and EA WRC 24

*(Base DR2, GOTY is £5.24)

It also seems that if you already own EA WRC and you buy the £11 EA WRC 24 on Steam, you get the 2024 upgrade and potentially the two upcoming DLCs for your existing WRC. It gives a warning message that you won't receive a second copy of WRC 24, but that's because what you're buying is actually a bundle of the 2023 game and the expansion, and you already have the 2023 game. Works out as a really bargain price for the upgrade, considering the added content.

So if you don't own the game on PC and buy this you don't get the upcoming DLC, is this right ? Because after reading it all, I'm not clear ? I already own the game on Xbox but not the 24 content. I thought this might be a good way to get it all, start again on PC. ie a complete bargain.

I recently bought an 83" TV so have switched from bonnet to cockpit view. Hasn't made me any faster but it's a lot more immersive.
So, with that size of TV, your optimal viewing distance is...
just doing the maths...
About 3 doors down the road.

PS I use chase cam in all driving games, as I have since about 1985 on the ZX81 (when chase cam was the only option) but as I'm **** at them anyway I don't care

There's a table on the Steam store page which explains it:

The only game that's available for purchase now is WRC 24, which is the 2023 WRC game plus 2024 expansion plus two future addons. It's not actually possible to buy the game without all three addons now.

Anyone who already owns the 2023 game can buy either the 2024 locations and cars, or the full expansion including both those and the two DLCs to come.

Car game on a ZX81, how was that even possible lol ? Two lines of code and it was full.

I'm 33 on Sunday. Though thanks to you lot I still have somewhere to go to make me feel a tiny bit young again

Edit -

Now I have a 1440p monitor I can record and upload to YT in 1440p Lets hope it can help stop the usual compression and bitrate issues.

Seems improved 👍

It's a bit of a stretch to call that chase cam haha
It sounded like you were asking how a car game was possible on the ZX81. The Atari VCS implemented chase cam the year before Sinclair released it though.

I did see that. Seems like a complete bargain 🙂

Well, if you turned the CRT TV on its side (and probably broke your back doing so), you were behind the car ;)

The scary thing is i actually remember playing that game and that is the one I was thinking of in my post 🤯 Thanks for the link @UKMikey

Anyway, back to EA WRC, which I'm still rubbish at...

That big lump at the back of the set makes it hard to put on its back. Might be easier to put the telly on a table so you can lie down under it and look up at the screen. 👍

Thanks for the clarification, the Steam page is indeed difficult to read.
Paying €14 instead of €40 to get all new content is a very good deal.

Edit: Just to confirm that as an EA WRC (2023) owner I bought the EA WRC 2024 game on sale at 70% off, and it immediately added the locations and cars update into my existing game. Whether I'll get the two future content packs remains to be seen, but based on the above I'm pretty sure it will.

Not really had the chance to have an extended (distraction free!) session with the game since the 2024 DLC released until yesterday.

I can't put my finger on exactly what has changed from the 2023 Puma, but the 2024 version is SO much better. The more I use it, the more I enjoy driving it. My fastest Rally1 times are all being set with the '24 Yaris now, but I can get pretty close with the Puma (and I am enjoying trying!).

Still not feeling the i20. It was my least used '23 car, so perhaps I just need to spend more time with it. Did a few stages in the '24 i20 yesterday and I just can't seem to be as consistent in it as I can the other two.

Did some back-to-back stage comparison in the Rally2 cars as well. Although the Fabia (both versions) feel more planted, I frequently use the Fiesta as I find it a little easier to slide around... but I think the Yaris has replaced them.

The Yaris doesn't seem to ride the bigger bumps quite as well as the Fabia (at least it felt that way for me on the default settings), but great to drive otherwise. I was re-running a stage in Poland and was consistently shaving time off with the Yaris. Need to go back and start comparing with my Rally2 times elsewhere... need a longer weekend for that though!

@RYAN it's happening!

I'm so happy for them. 😊

I've probably linked this before along with the M-Sport one but this doesn't seem like 2-3 years ago.

When Osian Pryce and Matt Edwards drove for them. 2 great drivers still active now.

The legend Howard Davies visits MEM on Welsh rallying show Ralio.

(Warning! - slight Welshness) 😄

Really enjoy going through some of the moments when I don't know or cant decide what to do. This Audi Acropolis one was a lot of fun. Good job I was in a Quattro, No other way I was getting back up that slope

(Also this Audi seems to have a handbrake...Somehow) :P

Still slogging through those regularity events in career. Greece is a real nightmare with those endless hairpins slowing you down and I imagine Croatia will be almost as difficult when I get there.

Fair play to you for sticking with those; did a handful of the regularity events and didn't find them at all enjoyable.

Did the new Lucovecek Moment this evening (in the '23 Yaris). That stage is a LOT of fun: will be revisiting that with the '24 cars as soon as possible!

I'm determined to complete the Icons Tour at least once. Maybe easing off on the traction control is the answer to tackling those hairpins without coming to a time-gobbling halt halfway around the turn.

I'm not sure whether the co-driver calls are that helpful as regards whether you're behind or ahead of the pace. Jonathan is always telling me to slow down when the sharp turns are managing to do that just fine. Nowadays I'm experimenting with just ignoring them and keeping an eye on the countdown and the stage progress meter.

It certainly breaks up the monotony and I've whacked the AI difficulty down to around 83, which increases their penalty points at each split.
