The race was clean, until this man came. I started almost last, and overtake everyone. I was so happy to do it that I wanted to gave him a chance, or two, or three... what a mistake.

Blatant blocking, what an ass :grumpy:

I thought the aim of a race was to stay in first? :sly: But really, you should have pressed him to block you into a corner, then use him "accidentally" as a brake. He can't really complain XD

EDIT: Lol, what happened withthe crash at the end XD

Comfort soft :)

I wish I could surprise him, but I couldn't recover :(

And what's « funny », is that after the race, I told him to be more fairplay. And he replied I should be faster, then he leaved.

(sorry for my bad english BTW)

Wow! what a piece of 🤬 (Your english is fine)

hmmm in my opinion I think you chose a "vulnerable" spot to pass him that left him the opportunity to "bump" you into the sandtrap. I've raced this track over 200 times and I've noticed people trying to pass/overtake in the worst areas on the track. If I were in your position at that moment I would have tried to "psyche" him out by tailing him closely and flashing my high-beams until he messes up OR just tail him until you get to the final straight-a-way( usually works for me).

This makes you want to punch that racer in the face! I hate those type of drivers.

What a blunt 🤬 !!!

agreed :)

Yes you're all right. My mistake was to have too much speed after my only one overtake. I was hoping to pass him cleanly to show him it's possible to overtake asshole without being one myself :)

I wasn't angry after the race, but now, after seeing multiple time the video I am, ahah.

You could have overtook him on the straight, but you sort of overturned a bit, calm down abit with the turns, these are comfort tires after all :) But I agree, this guy is a total jack-🤬

On comfort softs, most of the 'ring is a one-lane road but it looked like your pass was fairly clean before the second carousel. I can't tell from the video if you went wide on the turn or he punted you. If he punted...well at least you recovered. His block on the final straight was rude, but it is common on this track when you run a 1-lap race. All the following driver has to do is be fast enough to be within drafting distance. Personally, I don't enjoy losing a 9 minute race by someone who couldn't complete a pass until they had a draft down the widest straightest part of the course.

...but then again, that's why I rarely race the 'ring. I consider it more of a follow-the-leader and try not to make any mistakes course, than a pass at every opportunity course.

Agreed. I didn't really see him doing any jerk moves in my opinion. I did see you bump him a couple of times though so I don't blame him one bit for "blocking" you in a race. If you are truly more skilled, you will be able to pass without contact when you are not in the straights, and personally I don't like when the car wins races for me anyway. Tail him tighter and force him to make a mistake without contact and take the lead in the turns and you wont have to worry about it coming down to a drag race and it will be a far more gratifying victory as well. To me the Nurb is all about 7-8 minutes of complete 10/10 all out driving. Every turn is your opportunity to pass and the straight is just kind of a chance to rest your eyes before the last few turns and the next lap starts. It's definitely not what defines a winner for me.

He did seem to be blocking you quite a bit but all in all I think I'd be happy with that race at the end of the day because there's no way I could get even a race like that online.

A little bit of a dirty race but defiantly not the worst I've seen.

Don't see anything wrong with his driving for the first 30 seconds of the video, after that however.. on the corners though, thats not blocking, it looks like he is trying to hold his line, and since your behind him, its your "job" to get passed him,( I could be wrong though..) however its quite clear he's deliberately blocking you since he continues to do so on straight sections of the track and this is considered dirty.

Normally i hate people who block, and drive unfair, but to be honest i think you where both a bit over the line here...

You bumped into him several times in the corner sections, Then on the straight maybe he was having enough of it and tryed to block you ?

Not the worst, but the worst at this point of the track. If he was first it's not by his driving skills, it was because he started first and other people had accident at the start.

I've overtake (overtook?) all other people without touching them, even people with bad driving skill. But him… What you can't see on this video, is that the rhythm was slowed down a lot when I've joined him. I was constantly braking and not putting full throttle to avoid running into him.

I can't believe I have to explain to GTP members what is blocking, was is clean racing and what is unfair.

Blocking people is when you get out of your lane, what places you in difficulty for the next turn, but prevents your follower(s) to overtake you.

Getting out of your line is when you take a weird trajectory, and this makes you totally missing the apex and slowing you down.

Now, for bad faith (or bad view) people, the examples :

As said by Mac K, the first 30 seconds are nice, he's slow, but it's nice.

1 - http://youtu.be/vreGP7gTUgw?t=26s
Next turn is a left turn, so you have to go right. His wheels are straight, his trajectory too, he can. But he don't :
2 - http://youtu.be/vreGP7gTUgw?t=27s
Explain that move ? Then, of course, considering this move as idiot and blocking (this the definitions), he is in difficulty, and brake (too) heavily to recover from that :
3 - http://youtu.be/vreGP7gTUgw?t=29s
Making me bumping him…

That's not a good example, here is a really good one :

1 - http://youtu.be/vreGP7gTUgw?t=48s
He is at right, stable. I have more speed and considering overtake. So I accelerate to try to take the interior, and see if it fits. But, with absolutely - no - reason, he turn left to block me :
2 - http://youtu.be/vreGP7gTUgw?t=50s
Was that holding his line ?

The rest, especially on the straight is talking by itself.

Try to imagine this run, but without my presence. It's totally wrong.

Being first, at GT, is a matter of driving skills, not blocking skills. To keep being first, you have to be the fastest in all overtake-friendly moments. If someone is passing you, and don't place you in difficulty, you - have - to let him pass.

I'm not a moaning man. Kind of people like this one sometime come in, but I thought this was a good example of what I don't appreciate. The contrast with the other races in this evening was incredible. If someone hit (not even bump) someone else, he said sorry after the race. And nobody block someone else (change line to avoid slipstream is normal, blocking isn't). This guy had a bad behavior, and after the race tell me to be faster.

If it fits you, all is ok, but for me this kind of behavior don't have to be seen on GT5, in a 'no help' room.

After this race, I made multiple races with someone I absolutely can't beat, I was constantly second. And you now what ? It was ultra fun.

I know it's not easy to see on the video, because we don't have the feeling.

Turn the sound on, and loud. I've bumped him only two times. And it was only when he brake to heavy too early, and the first time was just after deliberately blocking me. So I hit him only one time, and it doesn't destabilize him.

Some drivers have different rhythms. Also having someone right on your tail can break his rhythm as well. It's all just another part of maintaining your focus and running your own race instead of letting another driver set your pace. Race yourself, not them. Not rear ending someone is part of knowing when you should be that close to them and shouldn't be the responsibility of the lead car to avoid being hit regardless of the rhythm or line.

Different drivers have different styles and do run different lines. There is no one magic line that is supreme for all cars and drivers. Also the possibility for error is higher when your rhythm is off, causing less than desired lines.
Try to imagine this run, but without my presence. It's totally wrong.
You are right but not for the reason that you are thinking. If you were not there and bumping and trying to push then yes, it would be a different run entirely. But this wasn't a free run or a time trial, it was a two man race and so it does look different.

After the bumping , whatever the reason for it, I wouldn't let you have the easy draft pass either. He fought you off in the turns why should he roll over now and hand off the win? If you want to win you should have to earn it and not simply ride someone's tail until you can suck up enough of their draft and expect them to be ok with it. The Ring is not Nascar.

Sounds like moaning. If you were faster you could have won and avoided coming online to post this complaint. The other guy isn't even here to defend himself but you posted his psn in the vid and everything. If you were faster you wouldn't have needed the draft to pass him or got stuck behind him to begin with.
After this race, I made multiple races with someone I absolutely can't beat, I was constantly second. And you now what ? It was ultra fun.
Awesome! The only way to get better is to keep challenging yourself. Don't get bogged down with losing. Race yourself.

I think we absolutely don't have the same conception of clean racing, and thus we can't agree, and we'll don't.

When I brake too early, and someone behind me bump me, I'll will say sorry to this driver, because it's my fault.

When someone take the interior (don't know if this sentence is correct in English) and I see him, I'll give him space in the turn, even if I'll lose my position.

« If you were faster you could have won and avoided coming online to post this complaint »

I could be 3 times faster that I hadn't won neither. I think you don't understand this at all.

This guy was 15 seconds from me when I've overtake the 2nd guy. He made no error and I managed to "join" him. So yes, I was faster.

Understand, I'm not complaining of being second, most of races I save I'm not first or even on podium, I'm complaining about his behavior.

I´d really love to see all the ppl online race as clean as you did gmli 👍

Most the races i experianced online are like "overcrashing", cause they overtake no matter if there is room on the track or not.

The ring is a series of very short straights separated by alternating turns. The section of the track you highlighted doesn't have any safe passing zones until the end. Yeah he was slower...so what, having a faster car, or being a faster driver doesn't give you the ultimate right to pass at will. Study his line and find a flaw.

Now his movements on the straight were in poor taste... that I completely agree with you, but i stated before, no one wants to lose a race on the final straight due to a drafting flaw in the game.

In any case, so what if the guy was blocking. it's over now. I've seen much worse behavior in online public lobbies.

Thanks Crowood !

chuyler1, I see guys like him sometimes. What's make me post this video, is the fact that I found this behavior the perfect and clear example of unfair racing. That's all.

Perhaps next time I'll choose a guy launching some rockets at me to avoid some strange comments here.

So, it's vacancies for me, traveling to Spain, then I can't reply anymore. See you in two weeks if I can't reply in Spain. Have nice races all !

GTPlanet OnLine Racing (OLR) Rules & Guidelines

although not binding for all, but the principle here state:

  • You are expected to compete in a fair and honest manner. With fair and honest is meant according to the GTP online racing rules, not according to your own interpretation of fair and honest.
  • You are expected to behave like sporting gentlemen at all times.
  • You are expected to drive responsibly in a way that’s not likely to ruin the racing enjoyment of your fellow drivers.
  • Pushing other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is strictly prohibited.
  • If sufficient overlap is established before the turn-in point, then the behind driver has the right to sufficient side room. The ahead driver must also leave sufficient side room for the behind driver. This means that each driver has a right to their respective "line", or side of the track, right up to the exit point. Neither driver should squeeze the other toward the inside or outside of the corner during the apex or exit.
  • Leading cars have the right to choose their own line down a straight. They can change their racing line once while driving down a straight (Move from the outside line to the inside, or vice versa). As they approach the next corner, they can return to the racing line of their choice However, they're not allowed to change their line when the behind driver is directly behind and changes his line to try and make a pass. If your movement causes an accident, you're responsible.

I can find some remarks on the first car from that list, however looked quite fun driving at times.

Finally: the driver decides to discuss the racing incident in public here on the GTP forum, the driver may be given a warning or an infraction

When I come across asshat drivers.. I trick them into spinning off without actually hitting them, I hate being cut off, especially if your trying to catch someone in front of the guy in question.

You want to see some bad driving... try watching this guy who entered my lobby one day. Thankfully he quit after he realized that if he pushed others around, he himself was going to get pushed around. I was in the rather slow yellow supra. After punting a bunch of cars then running wide on a turn, he pushed me out of the way on lap 2 so I bumped him on the 2nd hairpin. He tried to ram me on the next turn but missed. After that he had a temper tantrum and tried to ruin everyone else's race until he finally quit.

Yeah some bad examples of bad driving. However racing isn't always fair regiuardless of weather its racing online or real racing cars. I dont mind a bit of blocking when im racing ... bit of fun really.

You went off (twice), and he passed you.

You were faster though, when you didn't make mistakes so I don't see why you complain.

That's me too man. In a tight race, I want the other guy (or girl) to fight me with everything they have and make it as hard as possible for me to steal the win from them. Makes it more exciting for me and makes for some great replays. I want to know that they gave everything and then some. 👍

I've had that happen to me. What really aggravated me though was he was bragging on mic that he was doing it. After the race he accused me of running into him and started begging the room mod to kick me out.
