Example of what not to do online

I've been in far worse races, but i must agree with pretty much everyone on this one. You did drive a bit too agresively when so close, but old mate was blocking, early braking and runnng unpredictable lines.

If i was you, i would have slipped back a seond the 1st tie i touched him, as a sorry, then with the gap i would have created, i would close in on him and run my own lines. When i got close once more i would sit about a car length back at all times. That way his early brakingg cant hurt you or him.
Then once i hit the straight, if he blocked me i would let him. Remember that kik at the end of the straight, if he's busy wtching you he may underestimate said kink and fly into the grass (kinda like you did.) and if he didn't he probably would going into the last 3 corners.

Remember- patience is key online, run you're own race, ignore the politics of what thier doing and focus on picking the right point to overtake.

I fail to see what the problem is. That just looked like hard racing, you weren't fast enough (or neat enough) to pass the guy in the FTO. IF you think that is unfair, I'd suggest you avoid looking at motor racing as a hobby.

Be thankful you actually had someone decent to race against online.

Normally, when im racing and i see someone who is faster than me, i go to the next safe overtaking spot so i can let him go past. I dont ram or block, i just let them get on with the race.

I always slam f:censored:ers like that into the wall when they're blocking like that. Racing in the NASCAR races has given me good practice at attacking blockers, clean an' dirty.

You're passing skills are terrible. You might've had the better car, but he was the better driver. Seriously, you had so many opportunities to pass him by taking a different line. You chose the same as him almost everytime. If you would feigned an outside pass on any of those turns and set yourself up for a wide entry, and inside exit, you woulda passed.

Depending on the regulations the number of times you can block somebody from overtaking differs, however, provided the person being overtaken is not lapped... ALL regulations allow some form of blocking.

The least amount of blocking allowed is that seen in the very high speed FIA motorsport of Formula One, you can only block in one direction. For instance, if somebody is overtaking you on the left hand side then you have every right to move left and deliberatly close that space and if the overtaking car then quickly moves to the right then you must not impede in that direction.

Other slower FIA motorsports allow upto three blokcing moves in one overtaking manouvre. So a left, right, left block movement is allowed to close the open spaces in quick succession.

Blcoking in any regulated motorsport however is prohibited at the point where there is possible lateral car contact, meaning when the front splitter/bumper of one car is overlapping the rear splitter/bumper of the other car. Which would result in an accident.

In this video, I only saw what counted as regulated blocking permissable under FIA rules for the type of car you were driving (non-race modified). The shove into sandpit came when you attempted to overtake on the outside which is an unusual and not to be expected overtaking line, the stewards would have deemed it an accident and the bloke in the red car would not have been punished.

You wanted a clean race, you got a clean race. The bloke in front of you only defended his lead and perhaps the definition of clean, for example... which regulations are to be adhered to... should be established before the race begins.

People are allowed to block in all FIA and most non-FIA regulated motorsports, it is upto you folks in the lobby to decide which particular regulation is in place for your race, but under any of the regulations the guy in the red car was clear of any fault.

I would have pitted him on the end straight, come in fast when he blocks change sides, and get just far enough in that when he goes to block he will make himself spin out.

That's why i hate open lobbies. Back in the GT5P days we had no choise and we had some bad punters around. Here a video where i got punted bad at HSR in the second turn. Whatch the rear mirror, when he punt me and again one lap later, he tries again. But ...........

Sorry for the dutch subribes

What is your PSN?

Just so I can avoid you in online races.

when people block like that. they are just asking to get pitted on. i dont like racing dirty but when someone tries to go that far. you have to remind him that your behind him ^_^.

No, you have to learn how to pass better. He's holding his position. This isn't driving on the highway...

I can't believe the number of idiots on here who expect the person in front to LET them pass! It's racing! If you don't understand, watch almost any motorsport in the world then come back and have another look.

Yeah he's holding his position and gmli could been a little more patient but on the final straight that block was in bad taste, and like highway racing you get up to high speeds there, so if he was going to block he should done it a little better, because he clearly was not the better driver

Op needs to learn how to fake an overtake. The one leading had his eyes glued to the rearview mirror, fake the overtake from one side, he will block that line cause he will see you coming, and instantly change direction for a clean overtake. If he tries to ram you he might end up spinning because you'll have the nose of your car inside already by the time he reacts.

How is that nasty, thats blocking

I think we absolutely don't have the same conception of clean racing, and thus we can't agree, and we'll don't.

When I brake too early, and someone behind me bump me, I'll will say sorry to this driver, because it's my fault.

When someone take the interior (don't know if this sentence is correct in English) and I see him, I'll give him space in the turn, even if I'll lose my position.

« If you were faster you could have won and avoided coming online to post this complaint »

I could be 3 times faster that I hadn't won neither. I think you don't understand this at all.

This guy was 15 seconds from me when I've overtake the 2nd guy. He made no error and I managed to "join" him. So yes, I was faster.

Understand, I'm not complaining of being second, most of races I save I'm not first or even on podium, I'm complaining about his behavior.

No is not your fault because if you are in the front you decide were the breaking point is

Unless you're seriously quicker than me, I'm not going to let you simply overtake me.

Open lobbies are awful. People try to overtake in the strangest of places and expect you to just bow down and give up your racing line.

It 🤬 me off.

This. People who try to force their way in places like the Esses at Suzuka, or leading up to 130R, or anywhere at Laguna Seca that isn't the first corner.

I don't see what he did wrong, he was trying to win, you were trying to spin him, that is why you went in the grass, you took a HARD left but missed his bumper. You sir are the one at fault.

Back from Spain, with full energy to reply !*:)

Are you talking to me RA1D3R ?

The better driver won and the faster car lost, simple really; happens alot, online and real life. And just because you caught him does not mean he should just move over. I would like to see this whole race to see just how clean you came through the field.
If some of you all who are on op's side had ever done any real racing your views would differ.
Upon further watching the video what was that at around 2:30, your g meter clearly when right meaning you put in wheel to the left as you got beside him, like you were trying to pit him. Plus he was late to the block any way and if you would have kept your line he might have spun himself.
Just for ref, my psn name starts with TT54l... and if you see me thats how I race. If I leave the inside open enough and you dive in and get in my field of view you sir have passed me, and I will let you go but, if you catch me (which is easy most of the time) and expect me to move over so you can have your perfect line, enjoy my taillights.

Yes, you took a HARD LEFT to try and spin him out, otherwise you could've tried a pass in the last set of turns.

Close thread please. 👎

I didn't want to spin him out ! I've overtake a lot of people at this turn without touching them. Most of the time I prefer to go in the sand than hit someone…

The better driver won and the faster car lost

I agree. I was too happy to overtake others, then I would continue this wining time. I was clearly too optimistic.

« Upon further watching the video what was that at around 2:30, your g meter clearly when right meaning you put in wheel to the left as you got beside him, like you were trying to pit him. »

Absolutely not. I didn't try that at all, anytime of this video. I was just trying to not go on grass, but turn a little bit too much. See, just after (2.38) I've try a second time but fail, and go on grass… I was just trying to surprise him, because our cars were slow.

I realize that seeing a video, and doing it are completely different thing. All my feelings at this moment aren't in the video, so people can't analyse what I was trying to do, and sometime think I was trying to do this or that, and so are totally wrong.

I will not discuss this any further, it's a waste of time. People who agree with me don't say why, and people who don't agree lend me intentions I don't have.

If I can't overtake (and overtake without bumping), I don't and will stay behind the whole race (see that :*http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx-PQ0uBCk4).

If someone want to discuss how to overtake with a slow car, welcome !

Interesting video. Two things I saw:

1. You were coming up side by side (your front bumper was side by side with his rear bumper, so technically you were side by side) and he shut the door and forced you to break. That's a disqualification right there, not allowed.

2. On the final straight he deliberately blocked you by constantly switching line to the one you held. Not allowed either, on straights you are allowed to change your line once and in order to be defensive, i.e. to give the other car the worst possible line for overtaking - it's not allowed to change line to block. In a real race he would probably get a stop and go penalty for that.

What to do about this?

1. If someone attempts to shut you when you're side by side, claim your right to your side of the road. Usually the car in front (the shutter) is the one with the most to lose when trying to shut, because if his rear bumper hits your front bumper sideways, the risk is much higher that he will spin out. I believe there is a police maneuver that is based on that fact...

2. If someone deliberately blocks you on the last straight of the ring, then you go foul too and just push him off the road. After all, you have the higher speed so just go offensive.

About the last straight of the ring in general (because I saw someone complaining about it), yes there is a slipstream effect, so why don't you just use it to your advantage? If you come to the straight first with a car just behind you, ease up on the throttle and let him pass early, then enter his slipstream and overtake in the end. It's all about tactics.
If you don't want to do that, then you better build up some distance on the track before you get there. If someone is so close behind you when you're coming up to the straight, then he is just as fast as you are and deserves to win just as much as you. The race is not over until you cross the finish line.

Let me introduce you to the world of defensive driving.
When driving defensive you attempt to go for the lines that will make it the most difficult for the other driver to pass you. AND THEN YOU STICK TO THAT LINE! Blocking, by constantly changing line to the one that the other driver is in is not allowed. In the last 24hours of Le Mans one of the Peugeot cars got a pit stop penalty for doing exactly that.
So no, he shouldn't move over and let the other driver pass, but he also shouldn't sverve left and right to block. That is not fair play.

However, in the curvy parts of the ring (which is most of it), there are several sections with consecutive corners, which means that in theory you are allowed to change line quite often (once for each corner). That doesn't make it blocking, just a very difficult section to overtake on. On the straights however, there is no excuse.

Yeah someone should call the police!

where are these rules

Dealing with those type of drivers is annoying, in fact, when they start driving like they're blind, why shouldn't I do the same.
