Yeah it's typical, they are looking at who to fire rather then who to hire.

They share a lot of similarities with Ducati: Red in colour, always chopping and changing personnel, spending loads of money, based in Italy and haven't won a riders/drivers title since 2007.

Only difference is Audi bought them out and has now filled the team with people that have History rather then them being hired because italian, Ducati will likely find their way up the front soon.

Supposedly the F1 rumor points to Ferrari being toward the top again in 2016. And let's be honest Ferrari in recent years have come close to winning the the WDC 2010 & 2012, and if they had a better driver in Massa would have probably won WCC against RBR in 2012.

Ferrari came close to winning in '10 and '12 because they had a driver behind the wheel that can drive the wheels off of anything. I think SEB has proven this year that he doesn't fit into that category of driver.

It's clearly a reference to Maurizio Arrivabene, which is a Philip Morris man (for those who doesn't know, Marlboro is a Philip Morris brand). Probably Briatore was trying to underline that Arrivabene is a marketing man more than a racing man. One thing is sure; he was mocking Ferrari.

I've based my thought on this simple assumption: a huge multinational company like Philip Morris/Marlboro doesn't need(want) advertising from a fat, old, almost retired cheater. Actually, it could be reputational damage for them . The other man in the picture still has a contract which implies that the car he drives subtly advertises Marlboro, so he doesn't need these kind of things.

My list of positive adjectives for Briatore is very short, but crafty is one of those. The day after Ferrari announces Arrivabene, he posts that photo, it can't be a coincidence. For sure he was one of those who wanted Mattiacci's job.

Not quite, this guy is an F1 "Mr Motivator" and I think he'll be good in the role. I don't think Mattiaci was ever considered permanent? I could be wrong, certainly I thought he was only there for 2014 as he'd never been replaced as head of Ferrari NA.

This appointment will be good for Ferrari's political standing and firepower in the sport, admittedly all the large teams' operations have the potential to be detrimental to the small teams right now but I guess that's a different topic.

2016 because that's when they can run their radically re-designed engine... nothing detracts from the fact that they've under-designed (and then under-performed) year-on-year. I'd say that with a worse driver than Massa they wouldn't have even had a sniff.

I'm sempre tifoso so it hurts me to say it... but Ferrari F1 need a core-out rebuild.

You might want to edit that sentence for punctuation, real words and grammar

I think you have that the wrong way around, Raikkonnen has always preferred a car that rotates with (at least) slight oversteer. Alonso in comparison brakes hard into the understeer then flicks the car once the moment is correct. Raikkonnen starts turning earlier and almost "skidding" the car to the apex, managing the oversteer. He's been that way since before F1.

The effect of harvesting is to lock the back wheels more strongly which requires a much stiffer diff to balance the load across the gearbox, this leads to a car that isn't easy to control in a slide under braking. Some drivers have adapted to that better than Kimi... we've seen most of his time lost in braking.

I think we've seen a lot of understeer in the Ferrari, not so much in the Lotus. I'm not saying Raikkonnen rallies every corner but he doesn't go in late and then "come back" as some other fast drivers do, he's soft with the car and rotates it all the way to the apex and beyond, more "V-shaped" than Button's "U-shape" but a similar approach. When the car is "pushing on" like this year's cow-on-a-sledge (vache-sur-traineau) Ferrari he never gets to the point where he's happy that the car is turning (or so it appears to me).
