I can try to add a tab on my spreadsheet that has rankings.
That would be great, thanks. Please post the link when you're done.
Word of caution but if you're jumping in for regular season, I would wait for any potential BOP changes. Also, safe to say that most of the top Manus have the top guys driving them. If you're not in top split room, a lesser Manu may be the better play.
Actually, now that I think about it, it might be a better idea to choose my manu ASAP so I can get used to the cars before the start of stage 1. PD haven't done Gr.4 or Gr.3 BoP changes in a long time and since there's only one update before stage 1 starts I'd be surprised if they changed much, if anything.
I'm from Slovenia so I'm ineligible to qualify for the live events (not like I'm good enough anyway lol), but I still want to be the #1 player for my manu in the EMEA region. As a 3rd split player, I think that would only be possible with the following 4: Citroen, Ferrari, Mitsubishi and McLaren, but I probably won't go with McLaren because I just used it in the exhibition season and I didn't like the Gr.3 650S (maybe I'll try the F1 GTR before completely writing them off, I haven't even touched that car yet). Which of these 4 do you think is best?

For standings, I decided to build it into my already existing spreadsheet. Check the 2nd tab:

From your list of manufacturers, I would say Citreon. Both group cars can score some points and that seems to be the weakest Manufacturer in EMEA. Ferrari is only an option if you can handle the Gr3 car's tire wear.

Great fun at Fuji International Saturday. It was an amazing race for me and it was nice and clean. I really need to improve my qualifying skills. I do great time on the track, but at qualifying everything feels different.

Enjoy this edited version of the race!

Do you know how "balanced" the BOP is for Group 4?

In one test race, I'm in an RCZ against an Alfa and Megane on softs. The Alfa eventually passes me before I pit while the Megane is milling around. Even after I pit and fall 20 seconds behind, I only gain 5 seconds on the Alfa before our times equalize while I can only get to within 2 seconds of the Megane. If the race was longer, I would start losing time against those two cars even though I stopped!

What is this extra tire wear supposed to accomplish? It needs adjusting per individual car, not globally.

PS: Even though the RCZ is bad on tire wear, it could be worse. I could still be driving for Slowbaru. My god, it's hilariously off pace here.
To think you could have joined the Slowbaru dream team of Lightning, Bass and Kerokkuma.
Meanwhile it looks like I'll be fourth fastest "region" for Aston if extrapolating from current standings.

I was even toying with idea of doing recon for the whole preseason but don't think I can deal with the hour gaps between races.

Google sheet starred for future easy access 👍

I think I've got my spreadsheet down to an acceptable level of manual input and currently if the season were to end now it would be a bit more balanced between regions for manufacturer series representatives. 8 more rounds to go!

I see references to "dirty air" in some posts. Is that really a thing that is modeled in the game ? I can not say that I have noticed any issues by following someone close for quite some time.

That's just the problem. Lightning, Bass and Kerokkuma. Far and away those three are the most likely to earn a trip while the other two Slowbaru drivers stay home. My other concern is what will unfold for them the next three weeks. The combos are absolutely brutal to where even those guys may have to fight with all of their might to not tumble down the standings. They have to hope for a major BOP change with the Gr4 WRX because that car is even more useless than when I had to drive it because of the increased tire wear rate.

Rather late but here's the "best" effort I could do at Fuji with the Pug. Easily could've been Top 5 with a not horrible qualifying. You never want to be in the North America midpack because driving standards... well, see for yourself.

absolutely a thing

So, what is the distance where this is not affecting you ?
I know this is not F1 cars where you can completely loose downforce when you break close to someone, so I assume the concern is tire wear ?

Depends on the cars you are driving. You will really notice on cars that have heavy aero (Super Formula, Gr.1, Gr.2) but it effects all the cars, just the range of the dirty air reduces as you move to slower/less aero dependent cars.

You do get higher tyre wear in the dirty air because the car will simply understeer more, and then when you try and compensate you will probably get oversteer. Autopolis is a really good example of this because of the long corners make it very difficult to follow cars, and hence very difficult to overtake on.

Decided to have a recon on some Japanese guy streaming here. He's driving for Slowbaru.

And someone is talking about @OutlawQuadrnt

Lack of grip especially in the front. With that comes understeer and reduced braking. Tire wear would be a side effect of those things too but I haven't really seen it too much.

Translation, please.

Try following someone with similar pace in a Gr2 or Gr 1 car. At the least, you need to work harder on closing the gap.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the global rankings change after we get this weeks two GR4 races in. I love that new feature, it makes it much more interesting to follow. The only thing I wish for now is the ability to see each individual manufacturer leaderboard in every region now. There are ways to do it online but it would be so much easier to do it in game.

No one can convice me otherwise that this Fia Manufacter was made with Toyota in mind. They are not fast cars but when you put this ridiculous tyre wear they become totally OP in the right hands, just look at tomorrows race, gt86 gonna win for sure, only car that even can do no stop in softs, althought mediums gonna be better but it can do it...

Finally signed for Aston again, let's do this @GumballCGT and @Aderrrm, sorry for sacrificing round 1 for recon, just had to be sure.

As for tonight, had to do 6 races, full of retries only getting satisfactory points from the weaker last time slot. All of a sudden everyone is extra serious in FIA, a few incidents, things said in chat, and a few new fast guys threatening my overall top 10 position. It gonna be a long rest of the season for me...

Welcome to team Aston! Lets make it happen! Hope to see you at World Finals later this year.

For anyone wanting a practice tonight :)! Will be about 2 hours in length!

PD really need to re-evaluate the "Local Regions" a bit.

I just spent the last few minutes scrolling through them on the GT Sport site.

For starters, in Manufacturers it's useless. The fact you have to be from the same "Local Region" and drive the same Manufacturer is pointless. Maybe it's better in the 4 different main regions, but looking through North America, the less populous States and Provinces have maybe 10-20 people(less in many) who race in the FIA events. Maybe the top 5 race regularly, in my case we have 3. The odds of the 3 people who race FIA events regularly pick the same manufacturer of 24 are pretty low,so either have it so you can see the whole regions regardless of manufacturer or we might as well not even have the local standings. Even in big ol' Ontario most manufacturers have like 0-5 drivers, with a DR difference so great it's not even a competition.

In Nations it's pretty cool, but like I said the less populous States and Province have a very small handful of players who race in FIA events regularly. The bulk of people are C and D drivers getting between 0 and 300 points, who do 1 or 2 races and we never see them again. I'm sure the one guy in Nunavut loves getting 1st place every season, though.

I don't expect anything to happen with GTS, but if they keep this online format for a future release they should consider combining States and Provinces into larger regions instead of just using cookie cutter political divisions for them. For example, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska could all be combined to form The Great Plains Region or something and we'd have about 150 drivers, with maybe half being regulars. Unless the local rankings serve some sort of purpose as they are now, which as far as I know they don't, what's the harm in being a little more creative with it?

Rant done.

TLDR: Local Rankings too local.

EDIT: Just though of a wild idea, keep local rankings as they are but make them more pointless! Have a separate point scoring system that applies to local rankings only.

In this, regardless of DR you just get base point on whatever your finish was in whatever lobby you compete in.

1st: 20 points
2nd:19 points
3rd:18 points

etc.

Meganes and Alfas can also no stop. Heard of a few other cars where it's feasible.

RCZ definitely not on that list. I tried and it's far too slow to bother.
Well if anybody is Subaru let me know any strategies or such, it feels so bad driving around the Bull
Slap mediums on the front and pray?

The track limit bug on t1 at red bull is sooo sketchy. I can't figure it out. Some times it works sometimes I get a .5 penalty even though I think I took the same line.

Since I'm considering fuel burning enough to only get 2 laps in at the end of qualy, if I miss it I'll get DQ'd from qualy basically. Vut to do, vut to do, vut to do.... oh, and I only have one shot at the race tmrw I get home just after 9 and last slot is 10pm.

Hate to spoil a secret but any FR car should be able to slap M on the front S on the back and no stop. I even pulled it off in the GTR but for 4wd it's a bit quicker to stop.

Will need to hit 1:35s in qualifying, managed a 36.0 with some errors in the final sector.

I made some edits to my quali tool. It helps figure out how much time you can waste burning fuel and still get 2 flying laps in. If you go to the link, the "Deltas" and "Target Q Lap" values can be edited to suit your lap times and should auto update.

Is the no-stop faster than the 1-stop? I thought the pit time was actually quite short on the Red Bull Ring...

In terms of raw time with no other cars on track, the 1 stop is normally faster. But in the race with other cars and time loss, the no stopper is generally a safer option

Approx 17 seconds for a pitstop
