For the first and last time on both races i've raced with the no stop option . It was the most boring moment i've spent playing GT Sport. PD need to change this urgently,

That's my issue with it, yeah you can win on a no stop in A/S by driving like you're being followed by a police car, while someone who drives at the limit risking it all has to pit stop and has little or no chance of a win. The other issue in the lower split lobbies is people not respecting the strategy so you get no stoppers blocking when the stoppers are 1.5-2.0 secs a lap faster.

I'm actually going to skip the SF race. I'd love to mix it up at CAtalunya, but I'm not trusting this penalty system.

Not even worried about the track limits. It's the person bumping me on the rear or side and me getting 5 seconds for nothing. The higher cornering speeds of the SF19 is going to make it so bad. My first FIA race in the SF19, I was on pole and won. That was Autopolis. I think with many knowing Catalunya, it's going to be a divebombfest and bumpercar-orama.

Just feels like players are getting increasingly impatient, in my recent races.

Yes and no. It proves why qualifying remains crucial: Track position. If you're in front you won't lose a lot of time. If you're at the back, there's more chances to get taken out as I witnessed yesterday.

Manu: I won my mid-A North America lobby in the Honda NSX. No stop mediums. Quali on pole 1:36:0xx.

Top scorer for Honda in NA. Now I just need Kie to pick up the slack in EMEA...lol

Well that's another problem, if you're no stopping and you qualify well, then you are at the mercy of the stoppers in the first 2 laps, it makes sense to no stop if you have a bad qually, I understand people want pit stops, and that's fine, and as has been suggested numerous times, just start us on 50% fuel.

That's true, but you drive your own race. It's easy to get yourself in the mix, but that would only compromise your own race. In a bit it's not only going fast, it's also a bit of race management.

It's almost pointless running the Gr.4 Mazda at any race with tyre wear. We've got people talking about the RBR race no-stopping and one-stopping on softs, and the Atenza can barely one-stop on mediums. The Gr.3 car is great and can hang with most things on most tracks, but the Gr.4 is a slow-ass, tyre-chewing dog - good on brakes and, with fresh tyres, good through-corner speeds, but turgid in a straight line and insta-dead tyres.
The tire wear is rough but not totally impossible. I did a no stop in the GTR and Crafty did a no stop in the Mazda. He was even qualifying the Mazda in the 1:35.5 range last night.

Anyways check out this final lap from hell lol.

I was in the low 1'36s. And I'm good with tyres - I don't put much steering input in at all and never slide the front of the car. Unless using a lot of rear brake bias somehow causes more front tyre wear (which seems counterintuitive)... I have absolutely no idea how it's possible to no-stop the Atenza Gr.4 even on mediums though. My front left was more than half-worn on lap 6 and I was losing upwards of three seconds a lap.

Meanwhile the guy in the NSX stopped two laps later and swapped soft for soft...

just start us on 50% fuel.

I have a feeling if they did this we'd run into the same issue quoted below.

if you're no stopping and you qualify well, then you are at the mercy of the stoppers in the first 2 laps

If tires are fine and fuel is the only reason we'd pit we'd still have half the field pushing and go for a full refuel and the other half would be slower and conservative on fuel to either no stop or just go in for less refuel to save time.

The first Supra Cup race was a good example of this, if I pushed hard I was out of fuel halfway through the race, but with short shifting and fuel mapping between 3 and 6 as the race went on I no stopped.

Refueling takes a lot longer than just changing tires, so fuel management will be a lot more important and IMO a lot more annoying. If they got rid of the fuel mapping feature I'd be a lot more comfortable with this, but I don't see that happening.

But don't get me wrong, I'd like it if PD tried it so we can at least see how it goes.

The high tyre wear kinda makes sense if you squint at it

At the start of the FIA most of the races had you pitting for fuel somewhere around the halfway point, but all that meant was that people didn't try and overtake, they just fuel saved and then jumped the person ahead at the pits.

Now they have tried to force people to pit by making the tyre wear really high, but this just emphasises the differences in the cars tyre wear rates. In last nights race I was beaten by 12 seconds by a guy in the Alfa, and his fastest lap was slower than mine. I think he took about 15-20 seconds out of me from lap 4 onwards.

Either they need to adjust the Alfa, GT86 and Meganne Trophy so their wear rate is slightly higher. They did it for the Cayman so they should be able to increase it slightly (not too much, the cars need to be the best on tyres due to their slow straightline speed)

or

Introduce a tyre wear modifier to the calculation where the differences in the wear rates are proportionally reduced as the wear rate multiplier is increased. This would bring all the cars closer together and still force people to adjust to the tyres wearing(and maybe forcing them to pit). eg. the Alfa would get a 1.2x while the Peugeot would get 0.8x, and everything else would be somewhere in the middle.

I still think they might do something before the start of the real season as a lot of people are grumbling about this.

I qualified third last night and it didn't stop some dude coming from 9th to use my bumper as his brakes in turn 1. I get punted, get a 3 sec penalty, and he gets nothing. This ruins the game for me.

That's drivers. If you drive well enough, you'll be surrounded by great competitors as well. My round yesterday was hampered by such a driver. (look a few posts above)

These kind of things rob us of a good result, sadly. But being S/S means I get less and less chance of coming across these kind of drivers thankfully.

Just concentrate on developing speed and consistency. Those are key ingredients to get better results.

Man I'm a tryin! Was a B/S for the longest time but a streak of idiots running into me has got me down to a B/B now. Gonna try to get that back to today.

.

I tend to agree with this. The tire wear is annoying but I find it better than before with fuel. Every race was all about fuel saving and slipstreaming to save more.

30 minutes is already a good change. It'd be interesting having a literal endurance race with timer and all in FIA instead of just laps.

It would be great if races were based on 30 minutes +1 lap. Then the slow lobbies would finish at the exact same time as top lobbies. Everyone is guaranteed to be done in time to enter the next time slot.

With longer races, the tire multiplier could be reduced and still force pit stops.

I wish everyone was racing as clean as you guys did in this first half battle.

Do you know why the belgian guy fell so far back afterwards ? tyres gones?
Yeah he was attacking way too hard initially, tyres were almost 100% red at the end for him. Also Bellin might be on pad but I'm not sure.

Yes! Can't believe PD model the groups after the GT3/GT4 series and don't have a time countdown. Would make strategies interesting.

Next nation event will be a real nightmare. After a quick test , you have to drive this wonderfull fofmula car just cruising at very low speed comparing to the car potential. X27 tire wear is really killing the event. I'll boycot it for sure this is really stupid. A real shame. What are you doing Mr Kaz ?

Open pit lane at a certain time and close it towards end of race. If a player has damage, it'd be okay to pit and repair only.

Nurb24 layout would be interesting with a One hour race.

I should have taken your advice! :banghead: Shame on me. In mfg, with all soft. I qualified p5, rose to P2, pit lap 5 with solid red front tires. The gap I had in the beginning closed in on me by mid race. Went with soft again. Bad decision, by lap 8 they were shot. No speed or control. Gone.... I added TC, sent brake bal a notch to the rear, too little, too late. Finished 13th. It was pathetic. People were flying past like I was a pizza delivery guy with a bad address.

Next time I’ll listen! I’m going to run it again tonight. Med front and TC 1.

Edit: second try, started 7 on med, finished 5 on med. I was happy to have held on. You were right!
I was thinking mediums on fronts were going to work at RBR but for me, the finishing time was a lot worse than pitting and attacking on softs. And by attacking, I mean driving around 80-85% because any more and the fronts will melt.

There was a part of me that chose Pug to be the guinea pig, the one fast guy silly enough to choose a car that has potential if not for its crippling flaw; tire wear. RBR should've been a track I could've won at. I even score the one in a million pole in top split. Alas, PD's decision to jack up the wear rates relegates me to scrap for points while just about everyone else has no stop as a viable option. How could anyone look at this and say, "This is ok?"

Looks like you handled it pretty well tbh, nice driving :) I did the mighty pug in the exhibition season late last year, and it was tough work even at a lower level.

One thought, what TC are you running? You might want to do a race test with TC on 5 and then TC on 2 and TC on 0. Might be that having the TC set to a crazy level might work for race pace.

Obviously this strategy might not work at the upcoming tracks as they all have high speed corners, but might be worth a look.

I never run TCS. I think it should not be allowed in FIA races. I consider it as an aid to help a driver. FIA races are for me races for drivers that perform the best when the car is in its purest form. No driving aids, even ABS should not be allowed tbh.

PD can get it right...take this weeks race C, tyre's and fuel play apart but they don't dominate. I'm giving FIA a miss this week, I'll probably do the Supra race, thankfully I have some GTP events coming up that have sensible fuel and tyre wear and are fun to do.

I would disagree with your TCS point as it has enough disadvantages to mean that it will never be used by the top drivers unless there is a major issue, such as the tyre wear problem in group 4. CSA was banned in the FIA races as it allowed slower drivers to compete with faster ones, and this isn't the case with TCS. And I think if you banned TCS then you make the game less fun for less skilled drivers, and I am not sure why that would be a good idea.

Unless they balance out the tyre wear a bit then people in FF and 4WD cars will have to try unusual tactics to try and compete. Using TCS might be one of those ideas. Another one I saw in the Fuji Gr.2 race was simply stopping the brake hitting 100% (limiting it to around 90%) as that seems to help massively with tyre wear.
