Best finish so far in the 3rd attempt. Had pole by 0.110. I was one of 3 A/S drivers the rest were D/S. Got crucified into turn 1 again and emerged 13th. Fought back to 3rd for a whopping 27 points. 15 DR points and most importantly back to 99 SR....where 3rd would be worth 150+ points.

On to attempt #4!!

Maybe I'll see you there. First race was still the best with 140 points for 4th, then 82 for 13th (dirty race netting me 2 BS penalties, neutral SR at the end), then 81 for 13th again (dirtier race, rammed off several times)

9 pm race next, Saturday evening, this ship is sinking fast lol.

Made it into the 3rd slot of the evening, with car #17. Monza has never been my favorite track (I don't like stop-start nature of tracks like Monza or Fuji), but I thought I could pull something off in the Super Formula cars since I tend to do well in them regardless of track. Still, I could only qualify 13th on the grid. I decided to start on Mediums and so did nearly everyone else in the race. Chicane 1 was surprisingly clean, and I was all set to make up several places, but got nudged slightly and pushed wide through the 1st part of the 1st chicane, which messed me up for the exit, and I emerged in the same spot I started. I picked up several spots in the 2nd chicane, and 2 more on the straight between the Lesmos and Ascari when they served their penalties. As per usual with tracks like Monza, I struggled with confidence in braking. After several laps of going slightly too deep in the chicanes due to the combo of Medium tires and full fuel (a combo I hadn't practiced with), I finally started getting them right, but I lost a couple spots once everything calmed down, and I was in 7th or 8th before the first pit stops began. I pitted on lap 9 for Softs and reemerged 8th, where I stayed until someone got the 1st chicane all wrong and moved me up to 7th. I had been slowly gaining on 6th and had just gotten into his slipstream when the final lap started, but I was too cautious with the brakes and too afraid to push deeper into the corners to fully take advantage of the Soft tires and low fuel. 7th was my final result, with 167 points. Not a terrible result, but I expected to be better with this car...

For some reason after I left the race and went to the home screen, it showed that I have only 166 points instead?? As you can see in the picture, I had 167 points from the race itself, but for some reason lost 1 point after I exited the race, and in the rankings menu it says I got only 166 for this round. Anyone have any experience with this?

This car has too much grip for Monza. PD should've lowered the default downforce, lengthened the gears and put in on RH to make it more interesting to drive. It's so dumb when you're banging on the limiter for half the straight.

As for the race itself, I knew T1 is going to be a ****show so purposely not set a quali time and started second last (someone else also didn't set a time). Passed 3 cars due to the T1 carnage, approached T2 side by side and....got sent to shadow realm. I was so far off track that the game actually had to reset me  Of course, the guy who punted me didn't get a penalty. Great job once again penalty programmer 👍 Since then I was just taking it easy on the tyres, ran 9M/8S, taking care not to cut the chicanes, literally waving people by on the straights to avoid divebombs. Even with all that, I still managed to climb back up to 13th. Just shows you how dead Oceania top split is. Like half the people in that race (this person included) really shouldn't be there. We desperately need to be rejoined with Asia (minus Japan, because their numbers are big enough on their own), because the DR matching just doesn't work at the moment.

4th attempt at Nations was finally the charm!

Started P20 due to my only flying lap being put off course, so to speak. Proved to be a blessing as I drove through the turn 1 carnage and came out the other side in P7, and that's where I finished. 130 points on the board and done for the night.

My first two races were very rough and unfortunately, my DR is down 1K before I started tonight. However, my third attempt went well. Started 10th and despite getting rammed off the track at turn one and dropping to 16th, I clawed my way back up. I went with a 8M/10S strategy, which I saw Kie do in his race. It was the right call, as starting on lap 11, I got 4th and held on to it until the end. This part of the race was pretty intense though, since 5th was about less than a second behind me the whole time.

Nabbed another win in 2nd split today. Qualified 4th, gained one position off the line, leader got punted through T1 by P2, then I took the lead. It was almost all clean air for me until the end. The guy who finished P2 could have had a chance to catch me because he started on mediums and I was on softs, but he fell victim to a bad strategy. I pitted early after 7 laps when I saw a gap in the field and my times started to drop off to medium tire range. It worked perfectly. He stayed on the mediums for 10 laps and I actually passed him back before his pit stop. Had he pitted 1-2 laps earlier he might have had a chance. 235 points is my 3rd score and I think I’ll probably call it a season for Nations. On to MFG tomorrow!

Thanks PD for that nation car and track combination last night, it was on another level of fun and immersion for me.

It was another phenomenal race for the lead in nations at Monza in the amazing super formula cars, with Exbuk and I going side by side through both chicanes without any contact trying to get the 274 (?) points on offer for the win.. It was absolutely epic.

As timekiller mentioned above in his post #2286 about this same race with the replay, he was catching us up when we battled, which made me stop attacking until the end. It was a hard but fair race throughout and so much more fun than the other combinations for me, because of all that speed and noise and risk. What a rush!

I did every race, as it was too much fun to miss. Needed 275 points to improve anyway and that meant being in top split, which I reached in the final slot, qualifying ok with a 1:29.240, only to be disconnected on the grid. Even that didn’t put a dampener on the fun overall. It was just an epic night of racing all round. Thanks again to all involved for the experience.

10th to 6th. Should be really happy but feel really annoyed. Had been driving out of my skin in the first 3 laps, moving up to 3rd. Guy who was 3rd went wide and lost speed on the gravel and decided he didn’t want to lose the position. Dive bombed up the hill for the left turn. Thumped me wide but obviously wasn’t happy enough I hadn’t lost control fully so turned into me again to smash me off. I got 4 second penalty for it and him nothing. Came out the pits in 7th on lap 10 and got punted off a few corners later and fell back down to 10th. Spent rest of race driving 100% flat out to catch up and get a high as possible finish. Will probably be happy once I cool down as highest points of the season so far

Make sure you calculate your fuel correctly.

I didn't expect this. Pure luck.

Started 2nd behind the AMG. Made sure to stay in the slipstream, but mind my tyres(M6 wagged the tail a couple times). Figured the AMG was going to run me long.

The RC F was staying behind until, I hit the corner of the wall at the tail end of the circuit(watch that on exit). Next lap, it was right on the butt of the AMG and went into the gravel, at the same spot I hit the wall!

Watching the replay, the RC F is on exact fuel level as me(half tank end of lap 5), but its left rear is slightly more worn( due to wheelspin after the off).

I was lifting/coasting between the 100 & 50 signs before T1. To add, I didn't try for any passing before the pit stop. Even when I was able to pass for the lead down the front straight, starting lap 8.

AMG pits end of Lap 8. Me and the RC F go one more lap. We come out behind the AMG. Replay shows RC F overfills. I just fill at the exact laps left(mistake). Set fuel 2 to compensate.

I'm catching the AMG as it looks to be having a little trouble with rhythm. Its slow at the bottom hill left-hander. On exit I get alongside and AMG makes my pass easy.
RC F passes soon after.

RC F is pushing with fuel to burn. Staying calm and smooth, at the exit of the windmills, the RC F is on a tight line, I'm on the wide line. Contact on my left rear corner. I save a near spin. AMG passes RC F. Lap 14 begins.

Lap 15. AMG pushing now. I have 1/4 tank left. Start raising the revs. AMG fading slightly. Gap increasing.
Front straight. AMG pits! Aww, man.

Final lap. Done.

Think I was in the top split tonight for manufactures. Cody was in it and won so I assume it was. Though first place was only 248 points.

In the Ford GT I qualified 5th which was pretty good given I had no slip. I decided to go early to warm the tyres up a bit before my hot lap which I think was a good call.

But in the race I bottled it around lap 5 clipping the wall on the exit of the right hander before the last sequence of corners. Spun in 6th....down to 13th. Bummer.

I really struggled with tyres and ultimately fuel in this race. By the time I refuelled I was 16th. Which is where I ended up. Doh!!

Didn’t have the luxury of going again.

Even though I struggled here, I didn’t mind the track. I hadn’t really raced here much before.

275 for top split ? , I was in the 3rd slot with you and I’m at 60k dr so nowhere near top split and in that race the points were 301 for the win

The 5pm and 6.20pm races that I did were under 275 for the win and in the next 2, only the win was enough to improve my points by anything worthwhile.

The last slot I was in was top split and I disconnected on the grid, needed a 5th place finish in that to improve points.

The point (!) is, it was so much fun that I wasn’t really caring about the points, although still obviously paying some attention to them.

Nice to see you, Where did you finish? I got disconnected. Fuming!
14th. After the pit stops the blue Jaguar that was behind you when you d/c'd punted me at the left hander before the 2nd sector split. Next lap, while in 11th, someone else did the same thing and was visibly driving scared of a retaliation punt after I got a penalty for it. What a game.

Hey, given both our rating dips we'll probably be in the same race at 5:20.

Not good! Thought he’d hit you in the first corner as I passed you both. Lost 1,200k DR points thanks to that. Only made it round first 3 corners! Scared to try again in case the same happens!! May see you in the 5.20!

Pro-tip lads: WHEN YOU ARE IN SOMEONE'S SLIPSTREAM YOU GO FASTER AND YOU NEED TO BRAKE EARLIER.

Thank you.
I'll see you that and raise you "when you're in tight twisty corners with a car alongside you, use your mirrors and radar because you cannot just take your usual line".

Had it with a French guy in an AMG GT who turned in on me three times in one lap. Sadly he got exactly what he deserved the third time.

Mind you, I also hit a fellow Brit in lap one at T1. As I ducked out left from his slipstream and hit my slipstream-enhanced, cold tyre braking spot, he braked early (no idea why - perhaps being cautious, but he wasn't in range of anyone in front) and moved left. I had nowhere to go to avoid it and he lost 8s for it.

Let him past later in the race (actually at the start of the AMG lap above), but he ended up dead on the sharp right into the first sector line.

Probably not going to bother racing it again. Qualified 18th, well off the pace, finished 8th, and it got my average up to 100pt/race (101.667, yay) and somewhere in or around the top 15 in Mazda in EMEA (after the horror of the Gr.4 races), and it's just too much of a cluster**** to risk it.

Edit: Oooh. I'm 320pt away from being back in DR A.

I definitely just murdered one of those VW GTI VGT things. My fault? I felt like they just turned in on me. Being fresh out of the pits I wanted to get ahead of that group and the VW was slow from going on the grass so felt the move was on. You can see their demise on my radar. Personally I think the contact at the apex was all on them, the contact at the corner exit was perhaps 50/50 and maybe I should have left a bit more room (although do feel there was enough room).
Also, that pit exit makes for some interesting moments...

Finished 9th and improved my total points by 1. Missed the 18:20 slot but will give this another go.

I'm going to upload an identical video in a bit. He was slow and should have realised the car behind was catching at the rate you were.
