Started 11th in the Atenza and finished 5th, partly thanks to faster people binning it. Had a really good run out of the final corner but couldn't pull out in time and ended up boosting the guy in 4th. This, together with the Gr.2 race yesterday gives me hope that maybe I'm not as rubbish with race cars as I thought :)

Well!!!!! Clean FIA’s do exist!!!! So so happy!!!! :) That is why I love the FIA series so much, absolutely buzzing!!!!

Jumped in with 10 mins practice just looking to survive, only raced 3 FIA’s so far so was keen to have a good but clean race.
Great battle for p2 with a group of 5 of us jostling but really clean racing. After playing it steady at the back of the group my tyres were good as the Porsche and the 458 ahead started to drop off. This closed the group up massively and we were starting to get caught from behind. Myself and the AMG ahead were really looking for a way through now and I get slapped with a b/s 4s penalty for the slightest of touches to the AMG’s rear, I didn’t even feel it and it had no affect on him, I assume it’s because he was on the curb maybe so “off track”, I did touch though so I’ll take it on the chin. Anyway I was kinda gutted because I was on for a podium and really enjoyed the clean race so far. I decided to pit on lap14 with my penalty which worked out well as I served it leaving pit lane so I only lost 2s max. Left me down in p14 tho I was kinda worried but still pushing just in case. After everyone pitted I ended up in p6 behind the other 458 and with the Porsche hot my heals. Managed to fend him off for p6, but could’ve been a p4 without the 4s. Somehow a beetle jumped everyone from know where to nab p2 so kudos to that driver.

Surprisingly one and done this week, whoohoo! Qualifying went well with 1:31.500 good enough for 3rd on the grid. Set the fastest lap in the race 1:31.700 on lap 2 after moving up into 2nd within the first lap passing up a Porsche. Stuck around with the leader until I dump the car around lap 8 after managing a good 3 second gap over 3rd place then slowly got caught up by a BMW and let him by my tires were falling off a cliff at this point.

Lap 15, I run out of fuel just before pit lane and fall from 3rd to 9th after dumping 3 laps worth of fuel into the Ford GT to finish the race 6th for my 2nd highest total of 192 points. Time to call it a day!

Shout out to TPC_Granadier really fun race! I didn't stand a chance against you. Great tire and fuel management making that BMW work.

Maybe I should go into races with low expectations more often. It's more enjoyable that way.

I put in an okay qualy time and start P10, running a 3H/15M fuel-saving strategy. Then I set out to prove my pre-race expectations right and almost take out P9 in T1 when he brakes early. I slide to the inside to miss him and end up doing a barge pass. Then I somehow completely biff it going into the 4-apex turn and try not to annihilate everyone as I careen around it. I finally get it back on track with minimal contact and let several people by just in time to forget that dirty tires are thing and slide off the right hander at the top of the hill to complete my journey to the back of the field.

Most of the field didn't fuel save, so I made up several positions when people were in the pits refueling. One guy in an Alpha even did a 2-stopper. It seemed to work for him though, he overtook me on the final lap. Anyway, it was a much cleaner race than I was expecting. Several people did bin themselves, giving me a few more positions. The handful of times I did engage people, it was all very clean. One guy was even smart enough to concede the entrance to the chicane to me because I had the inside. I forgot to thank him afterwards.

Anyway, finished P8. I'm fine with that, I don't need to try another run. After the disastrous first lap, it went much better than expected. I had a couple lap times that were good for me and several more that were slow - but clean, in control and not in danger of losing it. I still have a long way to go in learning the RX-V but it's getting there, I think.

That RX-V is no doubt a handful. My quali has been even more terrible than usual. Q18 finished P13. Got clobbered on L1 after the usual T1 shenanigans and didn’t know which way was up and when it happened I was in P12. Yeah, lots of foolishness for me to go up 6 slots in 1/2 a lap. Got popped again on L11 into the wall after I caught up with part of the pack. Guy apologized for it afterwards.

Is there gonna be any fuel-saving strategy for the Gr.3 race at Gardens tonight?
Not in the Porsche! Smash it and just try to wear those mediums out... you can't, and you won't run out of fuel!

Well!!!!! Clean FIA’s do exist!!!! So so happy!!!! :) That is why I love the FIA series so much, absolutely buzzing!!!!

I'm with you! When this game is fun, it's more fun than anything! Kudos to the cool drivers who make it that way, on those occasions!

Am I going to need to pit for this next Manufacturers Series race at Dragon Trail Gardens?

I get what you're saying, but I also disagree. I don't think real-world GT4 has restrictions on drivetrains, and even if it did, I think the diversity of drivetrains makes things interesting, especially since you can't just pick a meta car every time. I actually like being restricted to a certain automaker, as it makes the fields more diverse and not just filled with cars that are "meta" for a given race. Heck, I actually hope the Manufacturers Series expands to other groups aside from Gr.4 and Gr.3, like Gr.2 and even Gr.1. Maybe even the N-Series, as well. I'd really like to see a Gr.2 or Gr.1 race that's filled with the variety of cars that are within each class, rather than just the '16 GT-R and the TS050, respectively.

Maybe they could do something similar to the IMSA Sportscar Championship, where there are some races that have less classes, and some with more of them. Specifically, I know that in IMSA, only some races with have both the GT cars and the prototypes, whereas some will just have the GT cars.

Perhaps there could be separate Manufacturers Series? Like one that only includes automakers with cars in as many groups as possible, one that's just the usual Gr.3 & Gr.4, one that's just the N-Series, one that's just Gr.1, etc. But I suppose that'd be real hard to manage on PD's part, especially if they want to incentivize prizes. Overall, I'd really like to see more championships in GT7, and I really don't think they always need to have real-world prizes. Some could just be a sort of in-between the Daily Races (or its successor) and the FIAGTCs, much like how in Pokemon, there's the ranked battles, the VGCs, and then there are specialized tournaments that may have special rules, but don't offer any big prize like the VGCs do.

I think that's my issue with both the championships and Sport Mode Time Trials in GTS - there's only big, real-world prizes for only the highest-ranking players, without something that's just a tiny bit lower-stakes. Hopefully GT7 will change things for the better, here, like maybe having a semi-casual Mazda Roadsters championship.
Real GT4 do have restrictions on drivetrains. They're all rwd. FR and MR only.

A110 to X-Bow. No AWD or fwd. Super Taikyu have restrictions depending on class. Evo & WRX have their own class. Fwd run alongside rwd(MX-5, 86/BRZ).

Well, I'm going to be satisfied with P7 after qualifying P11 at Dragon Trail in the Merc AMG car 12 in slot 2 North America A/S lobby.

A really clean race, and I had a few great battles along the way but ultimately not enough pace to crack the top 5.

Strategy was 14M 4H with a splash of fuel. Grabbed 124 points for my effort, which displaced a score of 119, so a gain of 5. CRB and 600 DR.

What a race! This round was exactly the opposite of what I was expecting (major bottle). Set the expectation low by throwing out a "I'm not good at this track" before qualifying. Ended up starting P4 on the grid, lol. Behind bloombe, F1nalized, and @Jwptexas. Took the first few laps cautiously and then after that settled into a nice rhythm with smooth exits and short-shifting to conserve a bit of fuel over this longer race.

Slowly caught up to F1nalized in the Porsche and noticed my line through the dipper/chicane and parabolica was allowing me to carry much more speed. Too much in fact as I overshot my braking point and nearly took him out.

I backed out to let him through, but that cost us time and pushed us back into the pack behind. Had some work to do to catch back up so I let off the pressure and we opened up a decent gap again. The next time I had a run down the back straight though it was much earlier and I made the move stick cleanly.

The rest of the race was more of the same. Stay consistent and get to the end. I saw that @Jwptexas was starting to struggle on tires in the Ford but I wasn't in a rush to pass or anything. When he went wide through the hairpin (was this on purpose?) I took the chance and secured 2nd.

From there it was just a steady push to the end to try and catch up with bloombe. I got close! In the Ferrari he pitted on lap 16 while I was able to continue pushing to lap 17 before switching to the hard tires. Exited the pits I was right behind him, but on the cold set of tires I didn't stand a chance of trying to pass. Eventually cross the line in 2nd with a 1s gap to bloombe.

Excellent racing all around, and especially good to race with @Jwptexas. Hope we get matched up again! :gtpflag:

I actually had a good feeling about tonight's race, and made it home just in time to join the 2nd slot with 1 minute to spare. I qualified 4th, and the Corvette driver that won the last Manufacturer's race I was in at Interlagos qualified on pole, with a Merc and a Porsche between us. The Merc appeared to have trouble finding a rhythm and was stacking us all up, and I made an improvised passing attempt on the Porsche into Turn 1 when he braked way earlier than I was expecting. The Porsche got the cutback though, so I had to slot into 4th for a few more laps. The Porsche got by the Merc going into Turn 1 shortly after that, and I followed a lap or 2 later. From then on, I slowly opened the gap back to 4th place, while 1st and 2nd gapped each other and me as well. Eventually the gap stabilized at around 6s between me and the leader. I made it 16 laps before having to pit for fuel (previously I'd only been able to do 13 laps before wearing out my Mediums). The front 2 made it to Lap 17 before pitting, and apparently took no fuel because I emerged from the pits roughly 3s further behind than when I went in. In the end I finished 3rd, 7s behind 2nd, and 9s behind the winner in the other Corvette. It was also my first podium in this championship.

Also, anyone remember when I said I would do a "200 points or bust" race for this round?
Gran Turismo®SPORT_20200617190922.jpg

I guess I can't complain, but why did the game have to take me so literally?? EXACTLY 200 points?! Not even 201? It's especially annoying when I see people like @Granadier getting 220 points in another race when we're usually fairly evenly matched if we match up in the same room .

Well, nobody likes a bragger, but...

Got into the 2nd time slot race at the Dragon, using my Corvette. Hoping for a 1 and done. Car number 14, so I thought, smooth and easy, no pressure to perform, Just get it done.
5th early in qualifying had me wanting more, since being at the front usually helps. A fresh set of boots for the last two laps, P3 at 1:31.47. A BMW on pole and a Mazda Sedan in 2nd.
At the start I was wanting to tuck in behind the faster cars and ride it out, hoping to save fuel and compete for it later on in the race. So of course they brake late on cold tires and slide out of turn 1 a bit, I have no choice but to maintain and end up in the lead momentarily. I see the BMW Just on my left rear quarter and let him thru by under accelerating. He was faster, but his slip stream allowed us to pull out to a 4 second lead over 3rd who bobbled a bit early. Shockingly the leader pits on lap 9, wait, what? I could not believe my eyes...I lead for 7 laps and pit on lap 16 when the Mazda has made his way back to and just gets in my slip stream, not wanting to tow him an entire lap, he is fast enough on his own, lol. He pits before the last lap and comes out right in front of me, .7 seconds, but pulls away another .5 during the last lap. Atenza’s are always faster than Corvettes on the straight? The BMW finished 7 seconds back, I think a two stop strategy cost him my spot.

I’ll take 2nd, very happy with that, 158 points.

I haven’t done a Manu race since the Nerf, I’m still pissed that they make BoP changes mid season that cause people to have to switch manu’s, and give up their points to do so. Why even bother if they will just make changes again mid season and you lose all those points you worked so hard and practiced to get?

Yep. A BOP change of 1-2% is enough to make a great car average. So a 15% change had predictable consequences. Sort of like curing dandruff with decapitation.

Anyway I will be doing Manufacturers Superstars on Saturday in the 4C Gr4, and will try to not finish last... how the turn tables.

Yes, that was on purpose once I lost it in the chicane you closed the gap pretty quickly over next couple of laps and I didn't see any reason to lose anymore time putting up a fight, just fall back in behind you.

After watching the replay you had a quarter tank of fuel more than me and about 50% more tires left, it was the right move.

See you out on the track

Not exactly sure why but the M6 just felt so unexpectedly dominant on that track when it came to fuel and tires. In my test races I was able to push 18 laps on mediums and have over a lap of extra fuel while staying in the 32’s. Beats me

21:00 EDT Manufacturers Series: Dragon trail - Gardens II

Today I arrive with 10 on the door but I qualify 17th. It was only 1.8 seconds from P1. I decide to put on Hards and figure I would go 5 laps and then switch to mediums and a splash. On Lap 1, by the time we are through the 4 lefts, I am now in 13th. It looked like some went in too hot... By the end of lap 1, I'm 10th. I lose a couple of spots and finish lap 2 in 12th.

It was actually pretty boring for the most part until lap 5 when a green Porsche starts gaining on me. I wasn't worried as I was going to pit. I go in 13th and come out 17th. There is an AMG and Huracan right beside me that both bin it before the 4 lefts. On lap 7, I catch up to another AMG and Ferrari. The Ferrari is defensive and sliding all over the place. The AMG gets by and I chase the Ferrari. On lap 9 I almost catch him the hairpin and then almost crash into him at the chicane. He slows down early and hard. I try a few more attempts to get by but he keeps cutting me off. I am trying to drive clean. Finally on lap 10, I get by at the hairpin and drag race to the chicane figuring he would stop hard and short again but I have him on the outside. He eventually concedes as we enter it and I get by.

The AMG catches up and another comes ou too the pits as we start lap 12. One looses it again at the 4 lefts but the green Porsche from earlier is making another push and catching up. on lap 14, I am catching a white Porsche and have the green one behind me. I cannot find a way around the white one. He is too quick. On lap 15, the green one catches me and I let him pass. Knowing that he was fast, maybe I could let them battle and stay in the slipstream. That is what happens and the green one takes the inside and passes on the final turn of lap 16. The white one tries to undercut turns 1 and 2 but clips the second curb and slides into the green one. They bump and I sneak in to take 11th from the green one and then 10th from the white one as he slides a little after the 4 lefts.

Lap 18, the green on catches up and taps me at the hairpin. He lets off to let me settle and gain keep my spot. We come to the chicane and I cut right over the curbing hoping to slow them down. He tapped me again and lets off again but he still catches me going through. He cut the right hander short and I end up catching his right rear and unsettle him. I don't think it was malicious.....so I let off to let him settle. I go off and now the white Porsche zooms by with a Corvette in tow (where did he come from?). I end up in 13th. That is still better then I started.

Had we not bumped, I could have had 10th as I would not have slowed down from the bump and the green Porsche ran out of gas not he way to the finish line which means I would have out dragged him...

Oh well, it was still some good, tight racing with sportsmanship all around from what I could tell. I will take that any day! I also need a new name for the "4 lefts". It seems that is where all the action is at in my races here...

See you out on the track!

Big BOP update, Gr.4 especially. TL;DR GT-R gets nerfed again, Atenza finally gets nerfed, 911 and RC-F get buffed for no reason. Basically 15 cars in Gr.4 get reduced power but also reduced weight.
4C gets its weight buffed again but its power is reduced, the TT is literally 1000 kg. See for yourself.

I'm not sure my Merc needed an extra 15kg! I'm fine with little adjustments here and there, cars can change throughout a season. I have however gone from really looking forward to Spa on Saturday to dreading it! Now part of it is me (very tired) but I can't get within half a second of my times from yesterday

They haven't a clue what they are doing, Gr3 Vantage good, gets a boost, Gr4 Vantage bad, gets a small nerf, sums it up really.

I swear they’re bopping it to the fuel/ tyre multipliers as they change them through the seasons. Fuel and tyre multipliers have been steadily coming down and are going to continue stay down for the rest of the season.

They obviously have a lot more data than we will ever have but it does make you wonder why such a huge change so soon after the last one, especially when that one was just as big. Surely the bop should be nearly there by now.

On the flip side, it’s good to see they’re still trying to make it better and not just letting the unused cars die off.

edit: Maybe they’d be better off tweaking a few cars at a time instead of all of most of them every update. They never update Gr1 either, hardly the most balanced class out there.

Wow, really made the FF cars a lot lighter and less powerful. I think that is a good idea tbh as it makes the tyre wear a little more even with the MR and FR cars, and should reduce their brutal straight-line advantage.

Will be interesting to see if the Gr.3 Jag is a little more competitive now with the weight reduction, as it is bog slow at corners atm. Was kinda funny watching people take 2 tenths out of me on the last corner last night as I desperately tried not to understeer into the barrier. Tried a couple of different lines, but didn't seem to make much difference.
