I completely agree. I don't use any assists except with the karts (but I don't care if others use them anytime). These things seem impossible to control without either CSA, TC, or both. Even with the assists on and FFB set to 1, they're still hard to control. I tip my hat to those that don't use assists driving the karts. I think there were a few in our race last night, Snow, Hellzfire, and a couple more.

Yeah. I didnt use them. Kart is a massive challenge without assists. Have to be really gentle on steering. I am on DS4.

Here's my race:

Saturday saw my first time back racing online on GT for a while. After finally reaching A+ rank I felt I needed a little time away. However I decided to get back into the action and I came back to a really enjoyable race. Here is my footage...

Gran Turismo Championship 2018 Manufacturer Series Round 2 from the Nurburgring GP circuit.

the brands hatch karting had my shoulders on fire afterward, such sensitive steering input required but controlling oversteer was easier than Gr. 4 or Gr. 3 IMO. I got my practice time within about .7 seconds of the top tenth time using only ABS for assist. Could've finished 2-3 places higher if it wasn't due to one person who went off track and came back hard, knocking me to last on lap 2 or 3, but oh well, it is what it is.

I wonder if later on, ghosting will go away, damage to cars are heavy and require pit stops, and safety cars will start to come out, adding interesting pit strategies. No, that might be too much going on.

My life long dream has been to become a real race car driver. Now I think that the FIA championships would help a lot but since it’s rounds are only available for 5 hours on 2 days of the week, it breaks my heart that I can’t even participate because I work 8 hours a day 5 days a week. If people were able to enter any time until the next round, sure then anyone could be able to enter. I’d love it if instead of 5 races a day they had it everyday at any time until the next round or at least if they still had only 2 days a week, if you were able to do the races throughout the whole day, so even people who work or are busy could still be able to participate

Sorry to break it to you, but unless you are at or near 75kDR then the FIA races wont help you achieve your life long dream any more than the dailies. So i wouldnt worry about it

That won't work though because it would ruin the points system. If you spread people out over more time slots then the average DR and consequently the maximum points available in each race will drop, and the lower it is the more advantage you can gain by entering a time slot with more drivers.

As it is now with only 5 slots you still have to enter at peak times (usually 2nd and 3rd slot on European servers) to get good points. If you enter at the other 3 times you're much more likely to have a lobby with a lower average DR and get less points, usually my worst results over an FIA season are races where I've won.

Has there ever been a FIA race at Tsukuba? I would imagine that the track gets very congested with 20 cars on the grid. Particularly in qualifying...

Tomorrow could get very nasty for me. I haven't driven at Tsukuba since GT6 and avoided Willow like the plague. I spent an hour today trying to learn Willow Springs and I have to say that I grew to like it. Lets see if I am of the same opinion by this time tomorrow.

Yes the BMW M3 in the nations cup was at Tsukuba.

Was wondering the same, never raced at Tsukuba but I imagine it’s very tight? Lots of bumps and barging? Or is it better than I anticipate?

The races I've done at Tsukuba have been fine for bumping actually. Even in a GT-R Nismo it was fine (except for the standing starts).

Lol okay I get you. My only finish was probably my worst race ever online lol 12/13

The E30 race was really fun but was mostly driving behind each other with small gaps :D I only gained positions by other messing up only to then mess it up by myself :D
Qualifying was also without any big issues, the field was evenly spread out.

I‘m a bit afraid of today‘s races, Willow Springs instantly kills you when you hit the gravel :ouch:

Have a really bad feeling about today's manufacturers on Tsukuba..many cars, GR4, small track it sounds like a wrecking recipe to me...

After a few bad races yesterday I'm at SR A again, so I really hope not to go even lower and eventually get reset

Anyone tried the Supra at Willow Springs? It seems to be the meta car, but the back end seems to step out on the last corner and I was wondering if there was anything we could do to the brake balance to stop that happening?

I tried the Renault RS01 and it seems slightly slower, but much more stable in the last corner.

These races don't half suck today. Might just do the non-Tsukuba FIA race.

Well, did the nations - quite fun and surprised pleasantly by the Supra's handling - it is indeed a little tail happy, but making the brake balance -2 fixed it for me - qualified 3rd, could have gone 2nd or 1st but got stuck into traffic.

the good news is that I managed to get back to SR S and gained the "enormous" 15 DR.
the bad news is that due to being DR A / SR A the pack was quite different in experience, a few A/A a couple of B / A and D / S - I play without any assists (except for ABS) and I do want to be more consistent, which finally started to happen recently, anyhow racing for ~25 minutes on Willow Spring did its thing and on lap 18th I spun badly - and went from 3rd to 6th....overall I'm happy with the result in terms of consistency, I just feel a bit unlucky because the guy in front of me also went off track but managed to keep the car and I didn't have that "chance" :)

My Nations race was quite the disaster. Was matched with all the aliens, qualified 17th and made my way up to 14th when the bad luck kicked in. Car in front of me spins, ghosts and de-ghosts only to be marginally tapped by me. 10 second penalty for me and half a lap later I spin out and loose another 25 seconds while trying to get back on track. Safe to say I was still last at the end of the race :ouch: 250pts. and -1000DR :(
There goes my P5 Europe/P1 Germany :boggled:

Bit the same for me, just trying to be consistent is difficult with no assists haven’t quite mastered it yet. I’m not really suited to me these fia races I usually take a few races to find my flow.

That’s a shame you were doing really well noticed you on the leaderboards, don’t worry too much though only four races count so just put this one down as one to forget and concentrate on the next!

Lounged around in 20th for the whole Tsukuba race. My pace and consistency wasn't even bad by my own standards, I just had a poor qualifying and then didn't short-shift enough I think.

Qualified P2 and finished P2 at Willow Springs. Threw away the win overshooting T2 after I got out ahead after the pitstop. Still a good race. 1300 points is the most I have ever gotten in a FIA race.

Qualified P6 in the Lancer at Tsukuba. Had the pace for P2 but couldn’t get a clean lap in. Then I got four one second penalties in the race from other guys bumping me. I then decided midrace to switch to a nostop strategy, which obviously didn’t work. A few cars passed me, spun out once and finished P14.
The guy in P1 absolutely blew away the competition with a two stop strategy(Also in the Lancer).

DR net gain 800.

Two stop strategy, hmm, might have to give that a try. Depends on where I stack up speed-wise, I guess. Was tire wear that bad?

I’d mostly be worried about getting penalties racing people with fresher tires

I think he only did it because he could. He had the fastest car for the track and was much faster than anybody else. I don’t think that two stop strategy is faster. Quite the opposite.

Well I had a shocker of a manufacturers race!

Was a room mostly with A+, and a few As which I was one of. Qualified 16th not a great start, had a weird moment on lap 2 went off about 5 seconds off the guy in front and I’m last. From there it was a boring race did manage to catch back up but passing is so difficult, well doing it clean anyway. Clean race though and clawed my way back to 15th, not great and a rather brutal may I say 500DR points loss, I mean I can’t of been ranked that high weren’t that many As in the room!!

Can’t complain too much I guess it was my first ever race at Tsukuba. Onto the next one!!

Edit - this race gets worse, it said I got 497 points in the race yet on ranking it says 376?
