There are no words to define how much I hate big willow, its basically gt sports SNES rainbow road with lakitu nowhere to be seen... :grumpy:

That’s probably why it’s my favourite track in the game, since I love Rainbow Road as well, but more so the N64 one

That’s a shame you were doing really well noticed you on the leaderboards, don’t worry too much though only four races count so just put this one down as one to forget and concentrate on the next!
Yeah I hope I won't fail as much in the other few races :nervous:

There are still more races.
Well..

@MadMax was in that race too, I shortshifted my way from P4 to P3 with an overtake before the pitstops, stopped two laps later than the leaders to avoid traffic in the out lap, only changed my tires and was still in P1 with a comfy 2 second gap after the pit-underovercut :dopey:

Didn't have a great qualifier on Tsukuba in the Ferrari, but moved up 4 spots to finish 8th. Seemed like every corner I had to shut the door on someone trying to barge their way through on the inside. Felt good to pass a Megane on the final stretch that had been swerving around (as they do) the whole race.

Willow Springs was tough to swallow, qualified on pole by 2 tenths in the RS01 in a field of mostly Supras and FT1s with a few A+ drivers and mostly other As, set fastest lap by 2 tenths again....and finished 14th

Finally, I got to do both Nations and Manufacturer's races for preseason!

My qualifying at Willow was far more than I had expected and I was doing quite well early in a rather tough room. Iwent for a pass at T1 at some point but while I tried to give the guy room, my car was understeering like a boat. I hope I gave enough space but I did see him go off track briefly. After that, I was hoping to narrow the gap to the leaders but I think someone snuck their nose in Turn 4. Not sure if there was contact but the car was suddenly wanting to spin as though I was getting hit in my rear quarter, so I wanted to go wider off the corner. Then the car just snapped loose as though I did get hit and went off course. I would've been able to salvage it except my car just so happened to stop right in front of one of those green barrel things. I was completely stuck and by the time I finally got back on track, my race was definitely done. Just wasn't interested in driving after that and I ended up going off one more time. Could've been a Top 5 finish but was only 11th or so.

Tsukuba started off okay starting 8th. Didn't expect much passing at all so I was surprised one was unfolding right in front of me. Wasn't sure whether I wanted to take advantage but if I didn't, I was going to get run over from behind. Well, it became a hornet's nest rather quickly and I wanted to bail out of the situation before something happened. Not sure what unfolded but I saw someone go off track followed by flashing Penalty signs by everyone around me. I avoided a penalty so I was in a really good spot. Then I decided to pit a lap early hoping to do an undercut except I came out right in the middle of a battle. I ended up losing two positions but again, the penalties meant I just needed to keep up with those ahead of me.

One lap to go. Low fuel! I was shocked since I overfilled to avoid that exact problem. For a moment, I thought I had thrown away a solid finish since I had to conserve but with the penalty serving and something happening to Snow, I went from 9th to 6th at the end. 5th was the best I could've done with a better qualifying and pit strategy but that finish made up for Willow.

Don't think I'll upload Willow since I wasn't racing with anyone after my incident but Tsukuba is definitely going up once I put the video together.

Was the entire top split disconected from the last manufacturer's race or was it only me??

Edit: It was only me... Such a terrible luck today :(

Did the Willow last night, made my way up to 4th on lap 6.... then some knuckle head decided to punt me in turn 1, the same knucklehead ended up being a DNF, reason why I dislike Willow is because a punt puts you out in the sand just slip sliding away, ended back at 10th, fought back to 7th by the end of the race.... :(

Lol I was really looking forward to this FIA. It’s a great idea. But I’m just done with it at this point, I’m not participating, did they even think people have jobs. I do believe if the races were spread out to diff times of the day. A lot more people could participate. Set them 2-4 hours apart

I decided to show my vantage point of my Willow incident. A disappointing end to a promising race. Still don't understand exactly what happened.

Tsukuba turned out to be my better race, which I was not expecting at all.

Hi! I have been reading this forum for a few tears but never posted.

Last night i raced in manufacturers cup on tsukuba. The lobby was mostly DR A B. This was my fourth race in GTS and i wonder about the matchmaking. I didnt get a chance to race. I had a good clean fight for 18th until a put my rear wheel to far out on a curb while no TCS.

Im the E ranked driver in the pic.

Willow Springs did what Willow Springs does. 15 laps of decent racing and I noticed the RS01 was twitchy coming out of Monroe Ridge (I was actually lifting at some points), but I didn't catch it quickly enough, touched the dirt. Dropped from 4th to 16th :yuck:

Ah well lets try Tsukuba, which I knew would be all about the qualifying. Could only manage 0.5 off the front so 16th, but maybe I can make it up in the race. Was able to run fuel mixture 2 for most of the 1st stint and keep up with the people in front, so at least I will be able to jump a few - Nope, curse you McLaren and your terrible Gr4 fuel efficiency.

Morale of the story is.... take up gardening

I was in your Tsukuba race, the Honda is amazing on fuel I jumped about 3 positions because of it. Went from 13th to 5th overall so couldn't have gone too much better for me. Yeah I think they need to sort out the balancing of the fuel still

If it's any consolation P6* in Europe went to build a sand castle early on in his race.

*P6 last night, I guess I'm nowhere near the top 20 now.

I was in the race too, saw that happen and I was like weeee free place, feeling good until I was put off by a guy overtaking me and got sucked off on the big one, 20 seconds later I rejoined behind you, tried pushing to catch up but it was only a few tenths a lap and the gap was too big, coupled with a few more excursions I just trundled home feeling rather blue.

Tsukuba was good though, actually for the first time in my life got a decent quali, so while I had a slower race fun, made for some good battles.

Well I was able to take part in the Tsuakaba race but I'm in the DR-C/SR-S race and felt underpowered in the Toyota 86 Gr4.

Qualified 15th but was not able to make much progress though I suspect my strategy was wrong as the 86 was good on fuel lasting and
tyre wear but too many faster manufacturer cars in the race to actually finish well though I came 12th.

Will be missing the races on Saturday though as away on a weekend bus holiday but hopefully get to partake in next week's and the
week after.

i know what you mean. the car is awesome on fuel and handles well, but it lacks in the straights. You just need to focus on exit speed to keep up and not lose as much time haha.

disconected from the last manufacturer's race or was it only me??

I think i was in that same room with you, the one that took about 5 min to match. after a group of you got booted, there was about 11 of us left racing that one.

I was pretty sure I had 2nd place on lock going into lap 25 of the Tsukuba race last night. I knew the driver ahead of me had at least 5s of penalties. But then he ghosted (I guess burn some of the penalty) right on the racing line and un-ghosted when I went for the pass. Got me a 5s. Then the backmarker causes a yellow on the final straight so I couldn't burn it. Ended up 4th as a result.

Overall 1,566 pts was still more than I expected to earn so I'm happy, but it was a dick move.

great racing from @Doogy003 :)

I had a really enjoyable race at Tsubuka last night, an awful qualifying put me 15th but I managed to make my way up to 9th by the end. Once again I managed to avoid any contact and I've seen plenty of very fair driving from those around me in the pre-season championship so far. Constancy has been my friend and Tsubuka delivered some good racing, with the whole field separated by just a second in qualifying and that competitiveness carried over in to the race.

Well there will always be cars that are more fuel efficient than others, the Honda being a light de-hybrided hybrid car will always be more fuel efficient than a heavy V10 Viper or V8 Corvette ;)
And tbh you can save fuel with every car just by shortshifting a bit more or less here and there.

F4H Rosso's video of the race shows it quite good. On other tracks the advantage of the amount of shortshifting I did is nowhere as big as it is on Tsukuba as that track lacks both long straights and overtaking spots.

I think overall the fuel consumption is well balanced atm

Yeah I understand what you mean and I agree. I just thought that if bad fuel consumption had that much of a disadvantage then it should be a little closer together between each car

I will be missing the races tomorrow as I am away on a bus trip but I suspect once the pre-season event has finished I shall switch over
to Nissan for my manufacturers entry, I am partaking in the races mainly to test my own abilities against other racers and if I happen to get
some good results it's all good.

Is anyone else seeing it say: opening today? Its friday

Well when this nurburgring event was first announced it said something about it marking the start of the season but then I don't know why they made such a long pre season based off that unless it had to get pushed back or something.

Also on the manufacturers cup stream today they said something about more information to be given on the 1st June so I guess we'll have to wait till then

I can't necessarily agree about fuel consumption being balanced right now. Yes, you can short shift and play with the fuel mixture but the time loss in doing so is dependant on each car's power curve. Cars like the Gr.4 Bugatti and Lexus, for example, have excellent pace and fuel economy that allows them to leap ahead after a pit stop even if someone behind them tries to save fuel.

The 650S you can shift at 1/4 of the rev bar and not lose any time at all. Unfortunately, all it does is make the fuel economy middling at best.

Agree, it’s good that in way all these cars the fuel consumption level are different but some still have the a disadvantage.

I’m using the Atenza for manufacturers, I short shifted and used map 2/3 for half the lap through the twisty bit at Tsukuba still only had 29% left. It’s rubbish on fuel and short shifting makes it very slow because you need to rev it out. Haven’t actually looked I would guess the Atenza is a 2.0litre?

Brands with the NSX didn‘t work out at all, qualified 18th only in front of a Huracan, managed to barely keep my car on track and somehow went up to P14 only to then spin out once and finish dead last. 150Pts. and -1200DR :(
MR Gr.3 cars are tire munching death traps 🤬

The Toyota race was a tad better, qualified 17th and finished 10th. 1500Pts.
