After qualifying at the front in p4 for the nation's race in the 16'NSX I then proceeded to completely and utterly bottle the entire race from literally T1 onwards.:banghead:🤬

Shame as I would have been on for my best points finish in the nation's cup with just over 1000 points on offer, anyway onto the manufacturers with McLaren. FML

I went for a no stop in both races, easy to do with the Gr2 cars but not sure it was beneficial as these things really love fresh tyres. Usual carnage on the mountain, but happier with this race than the next.

The Manufacturers race I realised I made a mistake around lap 5 when I was not in a commanding position when the first pit stops occurred, hitting a high of 6th and then facing being overtaken by a car or two a lap until the end. My worn RH tyres not only slowed me down but caused a bunch of SR downs when people were passing me and I ran out of fuel conceding 2 places on the final straight anyway even after all the effort.
 
Didn't bottle the manufacturers race with McLaren despite a poor qualifying in 15th worked my way up to 8th with a move on 4 cars in one on lap 2.

You were able to do a no stopper? In my practicing i've still not been able to do that in the 458 even with short shifting. I've played with the fuel maps, running a 2, and then a 3 but I tend to fall too far behind. I was in a practice lobby last night and saw a Gr 4 toyota 86 do a no stopper with an average 1:28 lap time. Didn't know that was possible.

No I still pitted, in fact I think the whole grid pitted at least once. A no-stopper wasn't really an option; I pitted in qualifying just to change tires, trying to save time by not refuelling, but that meant I didn't make it to the end of qualifying. I'm sure it's possible to no-stop that race, but you'd have been way off the pace, more than the pit time.
 
Today, I made my debut at round 9 of the GR Supra GT Cup. I also made my only stage 3 appearance at the Nations Cup. In both of these races, I had finished in 6th place.

A small dose of disappointment tonight... Ended up with P7 for 16xx points in a race where I felt powerless. The McLaren's fuel consumption is atrocious, so no matter how well I qualified (could have been pole in my final race with my previous times) I was always going to fall down the order because I had to drive way too slowly. Even sitting behind someone saving fuel to attack later didn't work, because I had to push just to stay in their slipstream. Fuel map 1 on the straights and 5 everywhere else, still ran out of fuel at the line. I don't think I could have done any better than this.

So that concludes my first FIA season (well, just rounds 4-10). It was great fun overall, running an off meta car was frustrating at times but rewarding when the result was good. I'm expecting to hold on to P3 for McLaren in EMEA after this final race, I'm unlikely to keep my top 100 overall position though. Nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with my performance this season :D Shame I'll miss most of the next 10 rounds because I'll be on vacation :(

Now to find a way to cheese those last 63 points to reach 60000 DR... :mad: :lol:
 
@Pfei @dlshearon Going all out is a lot more fun than suffering range anxiety on lap 3.

I appreciated the fact that the fuel consumption meant everyone had to pit, the grid wasn’t split between no-stoppers and people who want to go all out. But for a race of that length the fuel multiplier was excessive. I think it would have been better at x8 or x9, and a higher fuel load limit too.

Nations was super Fun!
Got almost all the way back to 99 sr! Lots of sr available I earned over twenty with the clean race which gets me out of my self imposed sr hell from rage quit at Nurb gp!

Fia is usually always good for sr/dr. I got back up to C on Nations. Gr.2 i usually strugle with but at the Mountain its my friend. :lol:

Man, there were some good fellas top six in the race I was in. South Americans were not allowed and it was nice LMAO (jk obviously, or maybe not)

The problem is the races getting shorter and shorter. It should be twelve or fifteen laps. Even just eleven laps would have ruled out the no-stop.

I gave it a try, nursed my Lambo home from 9th to 5th and decided not to run it again, even though I wasn't happy with my points tally.

Gas saving was a choir, but caring for my front rights was a straight-up nightmare. Oh how I miss being able to push in a race.

I guess I failed at that very attempt.

We all have that guy we keep running into, right? Mine caught up with me in The Chase, on the very first lap, break checked me, sent me flying with a 5s penalty, just to make sure I was dead, dead last.

Managed to crawl back to 18th and almost catch 17th, but in the end, the race was a total write-off, and I'm not even willing to try it again.


Next saturday we have Fuji and the Red Bull Ring, so it should me much better...
 
Did both top 16 races tonight. This Nations combo was one that I struggled a lot. Simply not fast enough.




For Manu, combo was good for Jaguar and I made the most of it. Don't think beating the Lexus was possible.

I was lucky enough to join both top 16 races

Nations: Qualified 8th, was gonna get caught by Noble but in the aftermath of the Nik Mak paddy whack on Holl, Holl was ghosted for a bit, Lion and I overtook him, Holl unghosted just as Noble (who was behind me) was about to drive through his ghost, they both got more damage and I drove off into a comfortable 7th place. On closer inspection of the replay, I had really bad tyre wear compared to most of the field except for the back markers. I really need to work on smoother trail braking if I want to be challenging at the front. Anyway aimed for 2k points, got 1968 so I'll take it. Improved my overall points total and just holding on to 10th overall in Oceania.

Manufacturers: FF PUG Gr4, enough said. I didn't want to fight because it would ruin my tyres. Also I saved too much fuel but Lion would've gotten past me one way or another.

One thing I miss about top 24 races (not that I was able to participate in any), is the extended grid walk music, having it extend by another 30 seconds or so made it a bit more special, but that's just me.

Funny how you showed Kenomos missing the last corner because the brake markers have been taken out. I had the same thing happen to me going into the chicane. Normally I brake between board 2 & 3, but the first board was taken out and I ended up braking between 3 & 4. Needless to say my race is ruined :lol: I felt like such a noob idiot at the time, but seeing one of the top aliens do the same thing made me feel a bit better :D

BTW, is Makozi really racing from Europe or is that a running gag because of how bad his connection is? I know he's from WA so that could also explain the lag given our country's expanse and notorious internetz.

The former may well be true...

Speaking of FIA, I skipped Nations for the reason being that I suck, despite having my '16 GT-R dressed in a Peter Jackson livery...

And then, Manufacturers came and I somehow pulled off a sub 1:25 in the qualifying session in the WRX, which was dressed in a Mitsubishi livery instead of the Hibiki Ganaha one I use after Round 2, which puts me in P7 on a 2309 points lobby, then I fell out to finish 10th (1215 pts.) from using maps 2 and 3 alongside some extreme short shifting. The race itself was super hectic, especially at the end...
 
I hate this mix of no stoppers and 1 stoppers in these Manufacturers races. Can't we just have one or the other? I'm happy for a pit stop if everyone else is pitting too. Massively dull driving around short shifting and fuel mapping. I want the only strategy to be whether to come in on lap 5 or 6 of an 11 lap race for example!
 
Entered the first slot for Nations and ended up 2nd split. My quali lap was a PB in terms of a fuel run but was still only good enough for 17th. The race start couldn't have gone worse as I outbraked myself in the first 2 corners and ended up 5s behind the pack. After I had a clean run but not much action unfortunately.



Did the 2nd slot of Manufacturers, but this time was a few tenths off my PB in quali. If I'd have managed to hit it would've been around P5 but instead was in the lower midpack. The race was just about keeping our of trouble and making the most of the Honda being good on fuel and I managed to get a pretty good result considering my starting position. It's a shame about quali as going off the gap to the leader I might've at least been within a shout of the win

 
For some reason my qualifying pace for Manufacturers was slooooww. I put in what felt like good clean laps but still lined up 19th. Fortunately my race pace using a no stop strategy was good, to the point it felt like I was actually being held up. Finished a disappointing 9th for another score to be disregarded. Shame as it felt like it should have been a strong combo for me. The dizzying heights of actually winning a race a few weeks ago seem so far away. All my results have been disappointing since then. Must work on qualifying!

The race highlight was absolutely mugging a BMW on the line for the 9th spot.
