I think what he meant was if you pit for hards at the end of the final lap, so you cross the finish line in the pit lane and never have to suffer the time loss of driving a lap on the tyres. Is that what you understood him to be asking? It's just that I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this in a race, but it would give a significantly quicker total race time if it worked.

The Schumacher move, what year was that? I thought it was at silverstone, I could be wrong. It counted at the time but I think they added a rule to prevent it happening in F1.

Oh, wasn't thinking of that. I suppose it might depend on where your pitbox is.

Wait, I don't think it would, actually. The tyre indicator in the relative doesn't change until you leave the pitlane, so probably not, @ivann

I can’t connect to the net work, I was just about to do some practice for the manufacturers cup. The console says I’m online but I keep getting an error (NP-32470-6)
It it just me or is anyone else got this issue?

Yep, after Schumacher did it, they changed the rules so the drivers can't serve the penalty in the final lap. If they cross the line without serving the penalty, the time is added to their race time.

Same here.
Edit: Just reconnected.

Wipeout won’t find a server either and the console still says it’s connected to the internet. I can stream from Netflix but can’t play games online it would seem.

Edit: now have error (WS-36696-0) and longer connection attempts :(

Damn!!! I was 5th for constructor, probably won’t stay in the top 10 if I can’t race :(
Looking at the points of the people below you, it looks very unlikely you'd drop out of the top 10, even if you didn't race.

Finished 2nd with my best ever score and second with over 1000 points in nation's with a 6m/3h/6m in the tomahawk despite getting mugged of the start by the hybrids and falling from 5th to about 10th or 11th after lap 1. Onto Monza with Aston Martin, should get a good result with this car/track combo.

Edit: The tomahawk felt great around that track, had so much confidence in the car to push hard through the pack.

Is there a good mix of cars in Nations? I'm not decided on the 908 or the R18.

Mainly Tomahawks in my race but R18 seems a good option. The two 908`s in my race struggled.

I've no idea what the best strategy is though. I started 13th so started on hards. 5H5M5M. Using the Tomahawk. Finished 12th.

Im sure that's of no help

I did some practice with both. The R18 was faster but I struggle any time I switch between 1st and 2nd gears. 1st spins it out mostly, 2nd has hilarious sudden understeer. I'm probably better off persevering with it and hoping I don't die.

I'm gonna take the Tomahawk because I hardly ever do, always feels like I'm in an Audi for these, and this just convinced me:

EDIT: I did 6M3H6M and finished 9 seconds behind the leader because of a few off's. Great car to drive fast round here, feels light round the corners and handles well right to the end of the tyres.

Well tried to get to 5k points in Manufacturers, and had a disaster, door #15.

Long story to it but started 18th with a 1:49.6 (pole was 1:48.4), smashed into a Porsche on T1, spent a fair amount of the race last, ran hard tyres until I had no fuel left, was quick for the last six laps on mediums and did a 1:48.4 in clean air (why couldn't I have done that in qualifying?!) and went from 20th to 15th in those six laps.

I know I could get a much better result if I went again, even with the same one stop strategy, but I kind of like doing it as a one shot job

Not in my race. I used the C9. It was Dodge and Porsche, with I think one Audi and definitely one TS030 with a GT-One livery.

Manufacturers: The question is, starting on Hard and then Mediums or the other way around ? I will most likely be a back marker in the race so I'm thinking I would start on hard.

Question: Do the "dirty air" situation also increase the tire wear ?

One 908 (me), one 919, two R18s and a TS030 for me.

Qualified 15th with the best lap I could manage. Was up to 8th on lap 4 after the various inevitable deaths. Went too wide coming out of turn 1 and lost it. Ended up finishing 14th after two-stopping. My best laps were in the low 1:59s (multiple), 6th place's best lap was a 2:00.4. Not a nice outcome.

Still, I did finish one place ahead of the guy on pole.
