I had a lot of fun at Yamagiwa in the Nations tonight. I managed to qualify in 2nd and chose to run the Medium front and Hard rear option for the start of the race. This made the car a bit twitchy at the start and I struggled a bit for the 1st few laps, but managed to settle down. Trouble was I lost the slipstream of 1st and the Beetle is kind of thirsty, so I was a bit worried. Leader pitted on lap 6, and then I pitted lap 7 for my 1 stop. Thankfully 3rd pitted on lap 6 as well, so I was able to let him by and save fuel for a few laps. We started to catch the leader and then he pitted, and came out just behind us, so it was a relatively straight battle to the end. The tyre life mattered, and he managed to get past both of us with a couple of laps to spare, and I managed to get into 2nd when a mistake was made. Great fight and a lot of fun.

In Manufacturers I knew the Lamborghini would be good and managed to qualify in 4th. My plan was just to stay out of trouble and I managed to do it pretty well (Medium fronts and Soft rears), but I was using too much fuel to try and stay in the slipstream of the guys ahead. It was pretty much line astern and I followed them into the pits on lap 8 to change to softs, and took a risk - I didn't add any fuel. I was hoping to slot back into their slipstream and then save fuel, but unfortunately came out in 1st and so began the slow, desperate attempt to save fuel. I did ok until the last lap when I dropped to 4th. A guy managed to get up the inside at the 1st lesmo as I was saving so much fuel, and as I was on the outside going into the 2nd lesmo I braked a couple of meters early. The guy behind me tapped me, then got hit by the guy behind him and the pinball physics was enough to put me off. Just one of those things, so ended up back in 9th. Probably could have done it again and gotten more points, but 1 shot is my choice unless I have a really miserable race.

yea I just figured that out!

I won the 23:20 nations race, or so I thought. Crossing the finish line I get 20 sec penalty :(
I don't understand why though. I started race on hard, drove 9 laps and then swapped to medium. I used the hard compound which was the rule.. I don't get it. I feel robbed of my first victory in nations.

Are you sure? Did you qualify on medium tyres and then definitely change to hard in the 60s pre-race period?

Did you save the replay?

Thing is I had a similar strategy (medium 10 laps and soft 5 laps) for the manufacturers race on Monza in the 22:00 race. Won that too, and no penalty. Only difference is that I belive both compounds were required there

I am quite sure. You cannot run mediums for 9 laps in that race. I qualified 3rd because stuff happened but then I took the lead on lap 7 when the guy in front pitted. I still had good tires then.

Can I get the replay afterwards? I never saved a replay.. don't know how to

First fast right turn 1 monza no chicane + cold tyres + dirty air , direct in the sand. Beware.
Did that in the first race today :)
Started 4th, passed nr3 before the corner, the two ahead were side by side and I caught them mid corner, nowhere to go so I had to lift off. Went straight out :)

There was a glitch that Kie25 saw where someone had an issue with their wheel and it caused it to go to the options screen a couple of times, and this caused his tyres to reset to what he started on. Could this have happened to you?

Interesting!
I had no issues at all during the race, besides my car jumped half a car width sideways in last corner in one of the ending laps. Just lag I guess. The guy in the vid was talking about grip levels, so I came to think about it and I definitely had medium tire grip on the first stint and the way they lasted should indicate the same.

You can save the race replay at the top of the screen in the lobby after the race. The PS4 also records everything - you can either press Share to save the last 10 minutes (by default; other options are available) of gameplay, or double-tap Share to start a specific recording sequence and double-tap again to stop it.

If it's the last thing you did on the console, it should still be available (boot it up, press the Share button and see what happens), but chances are it will only show the last six laps and the lobby, and anything you did after that before closing the game/shutting the console down.

Good to know.
No luck though. After I booted it up and pressed share button from ps lobby there was only an older clip from Lago Maggiore some time ago, it was 14 minutes long. So I started GTS and pressed share again, this time there was only the 30 seconds of game starting up

It's no big deal but very annoying when It was my first supposed win ^^. I came here asking because that has to be some bug and I hoped there was a way to appeal. Now I know I've gotta save replays in the future

did my 1st ever FIA race last night (manufacturers, im in BMW). what an awesome race, had so much fun, pretty clean from everyone. no big punts just the occasional tap in the corners but nobody ended up off the track or losing positions. started 14th as couldnt get a decent qual lap in with all the traffic. finished 8th i think, was in 4th until the last lap when the front left tyre was down to the steel belts basically. really good fun event and i will definitely be on board again next week.

still, after that race i went from B-B to B-E somehow, no penalties, fairly clean racing from everyone. in fact for most of the race i was by myself with someone 3 sec in front and 3 sec behind.

very annoying.

Just finished up the 2nd Manu race at Monza. I started 14th, finished 12th, so the results aren't anything special, but I encountered a glitch that almost cost me my S sportsmanship rating. Aside from giving someone a punt into the first chicane (they didn't really lose any time, and I got a 4-second penalty for my troubles), my race was clean, but for some reason after my 1st pitstop the game kept showing a red laptime counter for the rest of the race, as if I was perpetually on an out lap, or I had voided a lap in practice. At the end of the race I had a red SR and went from 99 to 86 despite a largely incident-free race.

Death by understeer!

8 people went off at T1 of my Monza race due to cold tires and slipstream...myself included, smh. No contact required. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself and keep pushing. I still made up 6 positions in this race to finish P10. Called it a night after that, Monza has never been my friend.

For Nations the car to go was the Supra. Absolutely amazing car to drive here. I made a mistake on my second hotlap on the chicane but my first one was good enough for second place. Pace on the race was really good.

A great no slipstream qualifying lap for the Manufacturers Cup but with the others taking advantage of it I only started 4th. Race was intense for the win, very close finish.

A summary of my Manu Race:

Me, in the GTR: Wow! I'm doing good! I'm moving up places!

My front tires as I approach T1:

I actually tried the GT-R for Nations feeling it to be more consistent through the chicane. Pace was just awful but I somehow got a 3rd despite a two stop strategy.

Thirsty for fuel and devouring tires, didn't feel good about Monza with the Mustang. Typical q botch job and getting no slipstream placed me deep in the field. However, I pulled off yet another mega position climb to where I should patent it given how often I've done this.

Edit: Fixed replay not synched with race at certain segments

I noticed the lap time was red after I pitted in the race but not after that. This is expected behaviour, right?

I tried all cars I have before deciding for the F-Type. It was stable through the chikane even if slightly missing entry etc. I also managed to get the highest top speed on top of the hill after the sweeping corners in the F-type (236km/h).

Manufacturers
This was the messiest race I've been involved in for a very long time. I'm not sure what it was, but something about Gr.4 cars going flat out with slipstreams for a significant amount of time seemed to bring out the worst in everyone. Why play the long game when you can go 3 wide into the chicane or 4 wide into the parabolica? I have a slipstream therefore I MUST make a pass on lap 3. Utter carnage.

Qualifying went badly as I didn't pick up a slipstream so started 15th. I was one of a very few not picking up any penalties and I climb to 8th before pitting at the end of lap 8. It was my outlap where things came unstuck. I come out and can see there is a bunch of cars fast approaching, and they're going to catch me pretty much at the braking point for the chicane. A Mercedes is on the inside, I know I'm slower than normal and have fresh tyres so I can go deep on the brakes, and just try to drive a predictable line leaving space on the inside. It's at this point that another Mercedes decides 3 wide is a good idea and shoves their way between us. They start to spin me, I feel I can just about hold it together when I get another massive punt that shoves me well into the run off area resulting in a reset. Back down to 15th.....

Through some miracle (mostly other cars battling at every corner allowing me to catch up) I climb back up to 9th. All in all that wasn't a bad result, but would have been in the battle for 7th if it wasn't for overzealous Mercedes drivers.

This was an A+/S lobby :odd:

Without further ado, here is my write-up for the 21:00 Manufacturers lobby I entered last night.

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20191207210151.png

As you can see above, the lobby had quite a diverse mix of cars for a usually speed-focused track, though I knew from my FP times and test lobbies that the Citroen wasn't going to be the fastest of the lot. Qualifying was fairly straightforward, despite an off at Parabolica which forced me to pit in a second time before I was about to start my second lap. Followed the slipstream of both Audi entries on each lap, eventually setting a respectable 1:46.205. This was only good enough to put me 14th on the grid, some 1.265 seconds off the pole-sitting Mazda. Yes, you read that right. A Mazda took pole position!

It was fairly obvious to me that starting on Mediums was the way to go, and despite a brief scare when I drifted wide and touched the gravel at Curva Grande, I kept my cool and worked my way up to 13th and a train of cars fighting for 8th. Despite the amount of other drivers having offs and penalties in front of me, gaining places was especially difficult due to the Citroen's lower top-end speed. On Lap 4, one of the Corvettes runs wide at the exit of Lesmo 1, putting me back into the mix for what is now 10th. The next lap, I make a critical mistake, braking far too late as the cars in front bunch up for the chicane; this causes me to run into the back of a white GT-R and in turn be slammed by a Red Bull Aston. Somehow, I managed to escape a penalty as I was forced onto the inside tarmac, but not further contact with the same Corvette that went wide at Lesmo 1 and an off at the very same corner. More penalties promote us to 12th and 11th respectively, before I slipstream past the Corvette and in turn get slipstreamed by a Red Bull Lambo through Curva Grande. The rest of the first stint went relatively incident-free, and I briefly managed to draw alongside the Lambo on the approach to Ascari one lap before my stop.

Re-emerged on Softs in 11th, which became 12th once the GT-R caught up and passed me before the chicane. To reinforce my respect to him, I was content with following the GT-R through as we caught up and passed an orange Toyota down the straight. On Lap 11, the GT-R stays firmly in the middle of the road as I get a run round the outside of Curva del Serraglio, forcing me to back out on the approach to Ascari, Eventually, I outdrag him into Curva Grande, securing a temporary 9th place until the Red Bull Lambo joins the party again. Got slipstreamed by both the Lambo and GT-R on Lap 13th, only to inherit 10th when a Jaguar got repeatedly punted at the chicane by a silver Corvette. While I lost 10th the very next lap to a recovering Lexus, the resulting scrap between him and the GT-R kept me in the hunt as we started the final tour. Coming into Parabolica, the GT-R runs wide and I set up a good line on the inside. The GT-R, clearly squirreling away on worn tyres, suddenly moves across my front, biffing me onto the grass and killing part of his own momentum. At the time, I wasn't sure whether the contact was my fault, and felt like it if it was, it would've been wrong for me to gain a place through that incident. With the flag in sight, I released the throttle, just enough to let the GT-R retake 10th. I was prepared to apologise to him for this and the bump earlier on, but he left the lobby before I could do so.

In the end, I was fine with settling for 11th place and 150 points, despite feeling somewhat disappointed with the contact I had. While the Citroen is considerably weaker on straight-line pace than others, it was still to keep up while following the slipstream of cars in front. Plus, the excellent handling and tyre management made driving through slower corners a breeze. Perhaps without that mistake at Curva Grande, I would've been able to get more out of the carnage that unfolded in front. How much, though, I will never know.

Manu: After getting an absulutely perfect slipstream in Quali, I put my NSX on POLE! My first pole in a top split lobby. Since the Gr4 NSX has a significant top speed disadvantage, Monza was going to be a tough race...and it was. A lot of bumping, a couple dives, a few mistakes. Luckily I held on to 4th place, 0.3s from the winner. Disappointed to just miss out on a podium.

I had high hopes for Monza, felt the Merc was good and I was feeling quick too. Did a lot of practice in lobby sessions and was aiming for big points cause already got some in the five first races so it´s improve or nothing.
Qualy was hard as no one was giving me a tow, clocked a first lap alone, pitted and started another flying lap not too close but catching a couple of cars. Was 0.7 better when penalty got me looking for that extra tenth at the last chicane exit, cutted it too much... my bad. P18, it was pretty bad but still felt I could pull a good race because of so much overtaking chances.
Started on M thinking of pitting on lap 9 for S. First corner i passed 7 cars it was ridiculous, not sure what happened in the mid pack but obviusly someone made a mistake and cars started spinning everywhere. It was like a NASCAR big one.
Started following the pack and dropped a few places because I was being really cautious to not hit the cars in front, allowing the cars behind me to attack. The race was getting pretty messy and I was lifting super early every lap when coming to first chicane because of people in front battling as if there was no tomorrow. By lap 4 or 5 I somehow lost my nerve and tried to get the inside but I probably misjudged it completely. While I was going to the corner already knowing I was going to ruin somebody´s race, the game reseted me (thanks PD for saving me the harsh words i would have deserved) Then I found a Mclaren that just wouldnt let anyone through, lost my head again and ended up in the gravel at parabollica. Knowing that my race was on the garbage can I inmediately pitted (felt it was smarter than making all the straight at a really low speed) It was lap 7, two laps earlier than planned and I was on a hot head, not thinking at all. The key part is... I FORGOT TO REFUEL :banghead:🤬
Tyres were able to took the two extra laps and I could have been P10 even with all the mistakes I made. But the last two laps I was forced to back up and fuel save even using FM 3. Dropped to P12.

An absolute disaster. My worst FIA race ever... Couldn´t get a second chance because I had to leave for a birthday party... All that could go wrong, went absolutely wrong.

Where did you get this footage, this race never happened :sly:

Nations - Qualy 6st and ended up in 6st aswell, was supposed to be a 1 stop strategy but i made a mistake and pressed to not refill :banghead: and had to make an aditional pit stop otherwise i think i could finish in top 5.

Manufacturer- Was a race with a lot of impulse management cause in straights and with the strong slipstream was easy to overtake but the oposite was truth so most of the race i decided to capitalise from errors instead of get the front and be atacked all the time, i don´t remember well in witch position i qualy but was arround p8 i think, ended up in 3rd position cause i capitalised on errors and managed the race being cautious and also saved the most fuel i could.
I got the 3rd positions in the last corner of the race after a clean 2nd stint with a french guy, i just made the last 2 laps making a bit pressure but did not overtake to have the upper hand and made a perfect scissor breaking a bit early and could deliver power early cause worm tyres it´s a factor and tricky in that last monza turn.

Both races where ok even with the nations mistake.

Yes it's normally red on your outlap, but mine was red for the rest of the race.

Yes i have had that a couple of times recently. Stayed red the remainder of the race after pitting. Lap times still registered as normal after each lap though

Please forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject but can someone please explain why FIA races can have 20 drivers but we still can't in regular private lobbies?
