Having only been in one of the races before, I can't remember if we are notified if we will be in the Top 16 race. I'm currently 3rd for Aston Martin so I think that is good enough to get in maybe? Or do we not know until the race starts?

You don't get notified, you "try" to enter and then the servers calculate who are the top 16 based on who enters.

I’ve not been in one before, but I was told it depends on how many people try to enter the race at the time. I was told the top 16(Max 2 per Manu) that attempt to enter the race at the time get in, or something like that? But I don’t know for sure, I might just try to enter at the time and see if I get in or not. Maybe none of the top 4 Jag drivers will show up. :lol:

Usually worth a shot as you never really know who above you is a no show and if you don't make it there's the same race 10 minutes later

Hmm, but I was in one before? End of the last full season I think, at Nurburgring 24hr Gr.3.

Or maybe that was just a broadcasted race and something different?

Not always the last race of the season, the previous exhibition season had it at round 5

For the Top 16 like said you need Dr. S and for manufacuters top 2 in your manufacturer, for nations top 2 in your nation. Then matchmaking will take the 16 top Dr rated drivers so you might get in as long as you fill the first two criteria points and have a high enough Dr.

Top 2 for your nation if you are in EMEA, other regions have different country caps as stated on the website
They take the top 16 based on overall leaderboard points not DR, except for that one time in 2018 it actually was based on DR and became a lottery for the top EMEA drivers
 
Did some testing last night. Aston can just barely go the distance on fuel. Seems like a one stop is doable. Lap times in the low 21's. Probably going to struggle here as I did at Catalunya. Hoping that's not the case.

Your right about the amount of entries depending on region but the criteria this season is Dr not leader board points for the Top 16 race. I've put the link below just go to point 7 and you'll see that they can choose whether its based on Dr OR leader board points and if you look at the top 16 races it states based on Dr this season.

They both look almost identical to this exhibition season...
But I'm cautiously excited for the Nations Monza race. PLEASE be the F1500T or one of the Red Bulls! Even if it is at a track I normally don't enjoy...
 
Interesting that it would only be 8 races next season but man, the Nations selections look very uninspiring. Instead of the usual N200/N300 (which will inevitably become a S-FR Festival) they should have more one make races with the lesser used road cars. Manu looks biased towards high speed tracks again.

Going on a more positive side, I know I was initially opposed to the separate days format of the races. But I think I like it better now. You just do a quick practice 30-60 min before the race, race and be done with it. Previously I would split the practice a day or two before and usually have a quick warmup just to re-familiarise with the car/track before the race, which ends up costing more time overall. Also lovin the 1 week break between events lately. IMO the FIA races should feel special and not be reduced to an everyday affair like the daily races. Even better if they do not release the schedules ahead of time, and only put up the page 24 hour before the race. Friday practice, Sat/Sun quali/race. Makes the weekend feel like the actual F1 weekend :D

You're right that the selection criteria can either be based on the Driver Rating or acquired points
In game this round it says matching by points. The links below also say "Selection Criteria: Acquired points"

Going with the un-META this evening. XJR-9 is 2 seconds slower than the number 10 spot SRT. Even though I went slightly quicker with it(0.5 seconds) than the Jag, I didn't feel comfortable with its ultra handling.

I like the track though. See how we go.

Well I guess if it's a Pre-Season this most likely means the 2020 calendar will begin about April time then?

Seems a bit odd that it's only 8 races as if there is a Round 9/10 this would fit in more with the full season start after March update.

I've most of my Season 3 on standby ready to upload after today and tomorrow's races so I will post links in due course and write my
season summary.

Any other Group C cars? I'm planning on using the Nissan but I don't know how bad I'm going to be.

I tested all five. Started with the 787B. Went faster in the C9. Slower than C9 in the 962C. R92C slightly slower than the C9. The Jag had the highest top end over the C9 and R92C and my fastest Free Practice time 1:38.8xx.

Keep in mind the strategy. I had none.
Finished 50seconds behind leader(due to me pitting 3x and slowing behind some SRTs in the tunnel, if you're not that generous, tons of time can be made up) and around 25 seconds ahead of 17th.

I think it was Legend that used the McLaren VGT and a couple others used the Peugeot LMP. Those cars were more competitive due to cornering downforce.

That's the Group C Achilles heel.
If you want to use the Nissan and feel comfortable or that's the car you love to use, go for it. You're not going to win. If you understand that, have fun. 👍
