I tested all five. Started with the 787B. Went faster in the C9. Slower than C9 in the 962C. R92C slightly slower than the C9. The Jag had the highest top end over the C9 and R92C and my fastest Free Practice time 1:38.8xx.

Keep in mind the strategy. I had none.
Finished 50seconds behind leader(due to me pitting 3x and slowing behind some SRTs in the tunnel, if you're not that generous, tons of time can be made up) and around 25 seconds ahead of 17th.

I think it was Legend that used the McLaren VGT and a couple others used the Peugeot LMP. Those cars were more competitive due to cornering downforce.

That's the Group C Achilles heel.
If you want to use the Nissan and feel comfortable or that's the car you love to use, go for it. You're not going to win. If you understand that, have fun. 👍
It's not that I love the car, I've actually barely driven it. I just fancied something different.

Started 8th. The braking zone into the docks was a bowling alley and I left it in 18th. Also got punted at the hairpin later on. DNF'd from 11th. I 2-stopped going 6/6/5 (I think), I'd planned to do the two medium stints for 6 laps, but forgot and stayed out one too long in the middle. I enjoyed driving the car, and in lobbies where it's 84 points for a win you can almost compensate for its poor performance in sector 3.

I'm going again in the R18 and hoping I don't get killed anywhere this time.

Any word on strategy for the last Manu round tomorrow? I think pit loss is ~17s.

I had the pit loss time nearer to 12 seconds, but that's still significant enough to make anything other than a 1 stop strategy not really viable (unless you really struggle with tyre wear). So it's just a case of working out when to pit. 7S/10M seems to work okay but have seen people do 7M/10S. I tried but the last few laps were horrendous.

Anyone who can look after their tyres while maintaining decent pace is going to do well. I've seen some seriously impressive lap times that make me want to cry  My good laps are in the 22's. Okay laps in the 23's and the end of the 10M stint I'm safely in the 24's. Any further practice runs I do will be about tyre saving to see if I can even out the pace a bit to avoid the drop off.

My single lap pace is not bad at all but the race pace is working out to be tougher than I expected to be honest.

Race 1 EMEA at D/S level.

1st lap pinball ......

Remaining laps trying to avoid the wall ...

Oh, forgot to mention losing to a load of cars that don’t actually exist.

Otherwise, a fun afternoon.

Any word on strategy for the last Manu round tomorrow? I think pit loss is ~17s.

I did two sim races in the lobby area. Mostly Europeans and A/S, and I think I will be going with a 5S-7M-5S.

Last race I came out of the pit with fresh softs sand the car ahead of me was 7s away with old tires. I closed the gap and finished about less than one second from him.

Two race what can I say 1st race I was 5th got hit to back as normal. Got P13.
2nd race decided to wait till last to get my pole then got hit on my last Q lap ended p19.
Race decided to watch the madness, still got hit after I pass a few that went off. I started on hard so I know I would got in the top 10. Raced till lap11 before Pitting hopes of to ten sent because of the dirty drunk driving, but got through end was in p7 with a big smile until I got rammed into the pit . Came out 12th & raced until u got 10th . People know how to get around the penalties & can even hit you into a wall & get away but you get the Penalties.
I think I stop for the night & save the stress until tomorrow.

Banter central in my second attempt tonight

First lap in qualifying, I lose the back under braking into the docks. I get 1.5 for hitting the barrier, so this lap and the next one are a write-off (this remains the stupidest thing PD's done with this game).

I cross the line with 1 second remaining to start a flying lap on lap 3, with no hybrid charged. This isn't enough time to set a lap, I get DNF'd with about two seconds to go. Was my lap that slow, or is the threshold lower here? I've started a lap with that little time left before and been able to finish it at other tracks.

Lap 1, I do the same thing at the docks on hard tyres. I managed to keep it together this time though, and there wasn't as much carnage here for me to gain from as there was in my first race anyway.

End of lap 1, I go wide again and er, go into the pits. Mediums.

Lap 4 into 5 I come up behind a Dodge on the start finish straight. He was slow out of the last corner and I move to the inside to go past but something weird happens. I don't know if I misjudged the effect of my hybrid but he seemed to be going a lot slower than me, and after checking the replay he was full throttle. Either way, we both drift to the left in tandem and I touch him, spin him out and into the wall, and get 7 seconds.

Pitted on lap 10 I think, ended up 9th. I like driving Gr.1 when I can avoid the carnage, but my recent DR drive coupled with the awful first corners at any Tokyo track isn't a good combo. I at least felt confident driving the cars, which is much more than I'll be getting tomorrow.

1st slot: qulaified 12th, finished 10th in the McLaren VGT. Not enough points to cancel one of my earlier races.

2nd slot: bought a Tomahawk, qualified 5th, had 2nd place and possibly a win on the cards until I turned into an idiot again and forgot how to count and missed my braking point into the docks, giving myself a 1.5s penalty on top of it. Finished where I started. Just enough points to cancel out one of my earlier races, but I could've had so much more.

Waitin on the 3rd slot. Here's hoping my brain can stay on long enough to avoid being a complete dumb:censored: and wasting an entire Saturday for the 2nd weekend in a row...

EDIT:
3rd still got the braking wrong on lap 1 going into the docks. Spun and took myself out before just backing out of the race after a ton of stupid, avoidable penalties. I should've just quit after lap 1 so I could give myself some time to actually do other things before the next race.

I'll probably have to do both of the last 2 time slots just to get some decent points after how far my DR is gonna fall after this.

4th slot: Started 8th, finished 6th. The 140 points I got for it were only 5 more than the race it ended up replacing in my points tally, but I'm not going again. I don't trust myself to not be an idiot in the final slot of the night.

Tonight's Nations Cup was a good night. Made it in for four slots tonight, but my 2nd and 3rd slot races were the best. Actually experienced some of the cleanest racing I've ever seen on GT Sport during tonight's races. Some players still got greedy during the roundabout turns near the docks, but anyone who made a mistake and affected someone else's race apologized for their mishaps.

Running the Toyota TS030 starting on RH and then pitting on lap 11 for RM. I've got nothing on the guys ahead of me, especially those who start in pole position and keep the lead for the whole race; the RM/RH strategy is super-effective that way. Really like this car. Also performed better than I expected with rather high-placing wins; I was expecting a lot worse.

Also, highly unpopular opinion coming through (maybe), but I really like this car/course combination. Once you're in the zone, it feels really good and the flow is nice and smooth. Can't say I've enjoyed this course too much with any other car class but Gr.1 cars are very enjoyable here.

My Nations experience was the opposite of @elston87 's, sad to say. The first attempt was a disaster. I started 15th because I got caught in a draft on the esses right before the start/finish line and couldn't keep the car from hitting the walls, ruining my qualifying lap. Even though I waited in the pits for a bit to let most of the other drivers get on the track first, I still end up getting stuck behind someone at the worst time. The race itself was no better. Despite starting in the back, I got sideswiped on lap 1 in the shipping container area, dropping me to 20th. By lap 8, I made it to 17th and overtook 16th place leading up to the hairpin by the pits after they collided with the wall hard enough to pick up a 1.5 second penalty. They then decide to take out their inability to control their car on me and then rage quit:

I finished 13th.

The second attempt went way better overall. I qualified 6th. Unfortunately, it wasn't without trouble. I was in 5th on lap 5 until this disgusting scene took place:

So after causing an incident that takes out both me and the driver he hit, this guy just keeps going and the penalty system unsurprisingly doesn't punish him. And the real kicker is that he started 19th and finished 3rd. On the other hand, the driver he hit (who started in 2nd) picked up a 5 second penalty for colliding with me. He quit after it multiplied into a whopping 12.5 seconds from hitting walls and I don't blame him. This was by far the most despicable thing I ever witnessed in this game.

As for me, I fell down to 9th but I managed to recover to an extent.

This was a sour way to end this Nations season. I really hate it when races turn into a test of survival and luck more than anything else. Needless to say, I'm hoping Manufacturers tomorrow will be better and I don't get stuck around bad apples again.

Once again, people mess up and I win. Here’s the first minute of my race, the rest is just me lapping. Qualified 3rd. Pole-sitter got pushed into the wall by P2 after they both got caught out by cold tires. Once I was in the lead, dirty air kept P2 behind me and did most of the work. I was hoping to be ranked at the lower end of a stronger lobby, but instead was ranked at the top of this one. I’ll take 224 points though, great way to end the season.

17 laps and this dumbass WRX has to dive bomb at the final turn on Lap 1.
I have no more braking distance. I tap it and it spins the VGT.
Lap 2, I cover the inside. WRX does it again and tries to fit in this minute space. Spins me. I fall to 18th.

Then, does it again in Lap 4. The race just started! No matter what tyres players start with. People need to assess the race pace first.

Just because someone LOOKS like they MAY BE holding you up or are not as close to the car ahead if them, doesn't mean they are holding you up or slow.

I started on RM in 12th, the WRX 13th.
I really hope that player isn't a gtp member. They should know better after all these discussions and threads. Most know I race hard yet fair. I'll know when to move over.

Going again.

Oh, and after all that, the WRX finished last(someone quit) 53 seconds behind.

Edit: So pissed off.

Anyway. I did a one stop didn't touch the RS set. Pit end of lap 9. My tyres fall off right at middle of Lap 8. If I don't get spun or slide, I may be able to get to Lap 10.

No WRX this time, but I did get a nudge from a Beetle. Started on RM and ran to end of lap 10. That nudge cost me that little bit of time, as I battled with that Beetle for the remaining 7 laps. Finished a couple tenths apart.

Almost got punted off at the Corkscrew. Looked behind and saw a fellow Lexus and a Porsche.

Finished as top Lexus out of three. I'm fine with this result for end of this season.

Nations @ Tokyo Expressway
I was half-dreading this combination when I first saw it in the calendar, but it ended up becoming the highlight of my season.

Qualifying was very lucky as I got let out of the pit lane first. Clean air all the way and I set a 1:39.3. The other times start coming in and for the first flying lap the closest anyone got was over a second slower.

On the second flying lap however, that gap comes crashing down with P2 within a couple of tenths. P3 and P4 were about a second slower. The gap after that was huge though, down to something like 5 seconds off the pace.

I'm guessing it was either a difficult combo that I was fortunate enough to have 'click' relatively early while practicing, or not many people put a whole lot of practice into this one?

When the race began, I got the slower entry into turn 1 a bit wrong, allowing P2 to get alongside me into the docks and take the inside line. P3 sneaks past as I'm forced out. Then it seems that all hell broke loose behind us. From watching a friend racing on a later time slot via Shareplay, I'm guessing that was a very common occurrence...

I was a bit frustrated with myself having dropped down to P3 and being stuck in dirty air, but I settled in as it was just the start of the race. Thankfully I didn't have to wait long. P1 made a mistake going through the chicane after the tunnel and earned a penalty for hitting the wall, dropping back to P2 in the process.

I manage to get past him into turn 1 on lap 2, but he uses the slipstream to get alongside me into the docks and repeat what he did on lap 1. He falls back on the penalty line and now its time to catch the leader who's more than 2 seconds ahead due to the fighting.

I manage to close to within a second on lap 3, but the dirty air makes it really hard to set up a pass. In the end I didn't need to though. On lap 4, he completely missed the braking point for the hairpin by the pits and slammed into the wall. I take back the lead and drive off into the distance from there, never losing it at any point - not even while pitting.

I ended up winning by more than 20 seconds, securing my 6th FIA win and a (by my standards) enormous 116 points.

I'm skipping the Manufacturers. I like Laguna Seca but I'm not in the mood for wrestling with the Group 3 Ferrari and likely losing all the DR I just gained. Is that car meant to be so unstable? :indiff:

Still hoping I can get into A-rank for the first time at some point, and this is by far the closest I have ever been. :D

I had very good pace at the Nations combo early on, so I decided to practice a whole lot for it as I enjoyed it as well. It paid off! :D I qualified 3rd with a 1:37.502 in my second attempt in the 4th timeslot and managed to hold on for 17 laps. Sadly the race itself wasn't much to write home about due to the massive dirty air, but I don't really care about that. After all, I took home my first podium finish in top split!

I've watched a few streams and I may have been hasty in my assessment of it being a 1 stopper. It looks like a 2 stopper is a lot more viable than I thought. I still think if you qualify well and can keep the pack behind you then a 1 stopper will be stronger, but you can certainly push much harder if doing something like 7S/7S/3M

Did the first slot for Nations last night. Quali was decent, managed a clean lap (0.1s quicker than what I did in practice) and that put me relatively high up the grid. Started on mediums and for the first few laps I was just trying not to make any mistakes so didn't fight too hard as I didn't want to lose time. Though after that nothing much happened. Pitted lap 9 for hards and felt as though I did drive more consistently in that stint, was catching @T_revisio up ahead though only in small increments and I don't think I really troubled him.
In the end a pretty good result personally, probably qualified higher than I should've which really helped, though anything would've been an improvement on my lowest score of 66.

Love to see how many different pit and tire strategies are going into this race. It should be a fun one tonight!!

The Porsche is pretty good on tires. Going to do some testing today to see how long I can push a set of softs. A 1-stop would be awesome if I could pull it off, otherwise I think @watto79 's strategy of 7s/7s/3m sounds good. Or maybe flipped if I start further back.

Ended up 5th, behind another GT-R and three Porsches. On lap 10/11 I was stuck behind a Porsche and an Aston going through the left hander after the Corkscrew. I tried to go round the outside of the Porsche and as far as I saw at the time, he just turned out and hit me. Either clumsy, stupid, or both. And he's in the post-race chat moaning about turn 1. I'm going to check the replay.

Still, I did better than I expected, although I think a one stop on mediums would have been fine. I'm in a better mood than I expected to be right now, that's good enough I guess.

Ed - LOL. Just watched it back. Pictures incoming.

OMG

I just got DQ'ed in the first FIA race. Like seriously WTF.

I started the race in 5th on soft tyres got to lap 9 before the softs fell off the cliff and then i pitted for mediums. I came back out in 8th, and in front of me an aston martin and a sky blue supra were ramming into each other, the blue supra gets a penalty and the supra is slow around turn 5 and as i start passing the supra on the run up to turn 6, the guy rams me off the road and into the barrier.

Now I'm down in 13th, and after 2 laps i manage to get up to 11th and there is a subaru behind me and 2 laps later guess what happens? Thats correct, the subaru punts me off at the corkscrew. My car gets damaged and for some reason my car won't go into reverse, so i can't reverse out of the barrier and then a red message pops up on my screen saying if i ignore penalty's for 15 more seconds or something like that, i will be disqualified. I couldn't move my car, so i got DQ'ed

FML..... Another race at laguna seca where someone behind me breaks too late and uses me as a break instead.

Polyphony really need to make S rated safety rating much harder to obtain. Still too many idiots in this safety rating.

EDIT - i also have footage on twitch which i will share soon.

This piece of outrageously dirty driving on my part cost me 5th place, finishing 7th instead. 5th would have been 205 points, and I was targeting 200 points for the last race so more than a tad frustrated. Bit of a miracle that it only cost me 2 places though considering the severity of the penalty. I do partly blame myself as I could see a cluster**** unfolding.

I might leave it there. I'm on a fairly satisfying 999 points overall now
