Well it was fun anyway. The McLaren was so much slower than the Peugeots through the faster twisty bits but if you could hold on to the car in front you'd get back on terms by the start of the next lap. What I managed to do though was start a respectable 12th then get bumped by Peugeots into barriers, causing slow exits, and got swamped. Was down to 19th I think (might have been 20th), took advantage of some chaos at the end of the lap, up to around 14th, then the following lap as we're trying to negotiate cars serving penalties approaching the hairpin, a quick driver who had been spun on L1 saw fit to dive bomb, he gained god knows how many places by using the right hand side of my car as a brake but hey, it's ok because he got spun the lap before. While he gained, I went back down to 19th.

Toiled past a few people from there, got to 15th and was working with a Spaniard to try and catch up to the guys ahead, going into the last lap we had bridged the gap, Spaniard out brakes himself into T1, I go past on the inside and there's no working together now - pal! But couldn't close the gap on the guy ahead.

Chose the McLaren to take off the pressure that I put on myself to do well. And quite enjoyed it, the 11 laps flew by

What's everyone planning for Monza? One-stop Med/Hard combo or 2-stop mixture of the 3? I hopped into a lobby a couple nights ago and did a 2-stopper and nearly won the race but per my usual self I didn't put enough fuel in and had to come in for a splash with 2 laps to go.

My faith in GTSport strangers is restored.

I qualified 3rd (arguably the best place to qualify for this one), and went for a fairly aggressive move up the inside into T1. I say aggressive but all I really did was make sure I had the inside line, and took 1st place. Behind me is a Frenchman who actually wanted to play the long game. They kept bump drafting me along the straight as the cars behind fought for every position. We soon broke the slipstream, and the Frenchman kept with the plan making sure we built up a healthy gap to the pack. They were super patient, anytime I clipped a wall and lost a little momentum they'd back out of it, making sure we didn't lose time going side by side through the corners. He took the lead from me at turn 1 on the last lap and kept the position and I couldn't have been happier with 2nd place. If anyone knows PRiMA_PhoeniiX, tell him he's a complete and utter gentleman!

Got to admit that was a lot more fun than I expected. Ended up doing a lap without any slipstream after misjudging the quali, so only started 13th.
Managed to pick my way up through the field in the race avoiding most of the carnage, and ended up trying to hold onto a group of guys that I think were a bit faster than me going onto the last lap.

Managed to sneak up the inside of one coming out of the chicane, and then another got a little bit of a tank slapper going through the fast right and then left towards the end of the lap. Ended up getting 7th, so was quite happy with that, especially since everyone I raced against seemed to be driving very fairly. Fun race.

First pole of the season and of course it's at the worst possible track to start from pole position on. First corner mayhem as usual on east outer loop but that's nothing compared to the professional Mario Kart driver. This guy makes zero attempt to race and ends up finishing just outside the podium, while people he wrecked finish way down. Granted, I don't help myself when punting into mclarenman after I misjudged the braking point, but I did at least attempt to brake. How this circuit hasn't been removed from FIA races I'll never know. Props to the race winner, in this case wolfverine55, for staying out of dodge.

1:22 he runs through me at the fast chicane and ploughs me into the wall. How I escaped a 1.5 second wall collision penalty I don't know.

1:57 a heavy right thumb leads to a chain of cock ups on my behalf :dunce:

4:18 In the words of Sebastian Vettel "I don't think I need to say anything here"

I was just going to one stop with the 86, the mediums seem decent enough for 8 or 9 laps.

Only tested a 1-stop in the Nissan so far but it seems viable for that car. I don't trust myself to run softs to their full potential so any gain in terms of grip would probably be mitigated my the extra pit stop (which is worse than usual at Monza since it's on a huge straight).

It's pretty much going to be a couple of people that actually picked Peugeot, likely getting easy wins or high results, mixed in with some TT Cups & Jags.

Everything else will struggle against those at Monza I think, although i guess it depends on strategy, fueling etc.

Doesn't the Peugeot absolutely murder its tyres though? With four massive braking zones at Monza I'd think those fronts will get chewed up pretty quickly

Going for a one stop. Relatively long pit stop at Monza which leaves a lot of ground to make up

I've decided not to run Nations today because of what you're talking about - I can't imagine the race being anything other than a demolition derby. As I was practicing, I kept on having visions in my head of people sliding into me during the esses, giving me barrier penalties and me losing my mind about hours of practice being ruined by someone who thought it'd be fun to race on a wet track like it was nothing.

That being said, when I was running practice laps I found that turning TCS on helped immensely and actually improved my time a little.
It seemed to be more about giving oneself an uppercut. Self inflicted penalties, more than someone else serving another into a wall.

Hit the 1st slot expecting a disconnect, race went ahead.
Messed up qualifying, tv auto turned off, must disable that, he said 6 months ago :banghead:

P18 in the Mustang low B S in a field of mainly Peugeots.
Race start and P9 ish glitches and holds up those behind, almost made it through unscathed, but another car avoiding the hold up clipped me.
Manage to get up to 10th ish by 2nd lap, held on for another lap but hit an innocent at the final turn on lap 3 due to unghosting cars from the stupidly placed penalty zone 🤬
Waited while they sorted themselves out P16, they had a 1.5 sec penalty from me hitting them too. Finished P16.
Was reasonably enjoyable race, only ruined by my own stupidity.
Gonna have a shot at the last slot

P8 starting from p16 without slipstream my second best result of this nation's season. Not bad and more fun than expected, it was my first time driving the Peugeot and the feeling on the wet was nice

Edit: oh yes, the downside, 1.5 penalty on the final lap because someone couldn t wait just one turn to make his move, was battling for p5

You might be right, testing with the PUG in online lobbies seems like the tyre wear is actually disgusting... to the point where I can't believe they left FF cars this broken for this long.

2 laps on the PUG with a controller before the tyres go dead for me, and 4 max on mediums... and braking feels really weird compared to the FIA practice session, like it is way less stable under braking for some reason.

Final slot went with the Peugeot, cut 2 secs of my lap time in practice and had a good handle on the car.
Qualified in P3, wished everyone luck... T1....dirty useless drivers everywhere, same throughout the 1st lap, T1 2nd lap same again, not wasting my time racing with w anchors,so quit. Happy I qualified 3rd. Gonna have a beer or several and watch a movie 👍

Had two cracks at the wet Nations Tokyo race. Was looking forward to this as I seem to always have a bit of pace in the wet.

First race I got caught up in a big crash in quali. Qualified 17th. Bugger.....Finished 11th after getting a couple small penalties and an overall really fun race.

Second race I qualified 6th and end up finishing 6th after it was all said and done. Got up to 4th with the 3rd place runner just out of slip stream when the guy I was working with in slipstream decided it was time to start fighting. Which was fair enough really as the race was nearing the end. Got swamped by two cars on the hairpin on the last lap and couldn’t make the positions up.

203 points. I’ll take that as I haven’t been having a good run in Nations recently.

We'll call it one and done for Nations Cup at Tokyo. I wish all race reports were like this!

North America - slot 1 - A/S lobby driving the Ford GT LM Spec II on intermediates.

Qualified 5th, even though my hot lap was balked, but I love this combo and felt very confident.

Nothing to report other than I moved into 3rd by turn 1, 2nd by turn 2, and made the pass for the lead at the end of lap 1 at the hairpin and never looked back. Broke the slipstream pretty easily and 'cruised' to a 6 second victory. Only my 2nd FIA victory and 51st overall.

Missed out on fastest lap by 1/10th...

I’ve just noticed that the next Nations cup race is N100 on comfort soft. Does the SF-R tune down that far? Would be some different cars on the grid.

What top speed are you guys hitting on Monza? My max in free practice with the 86 is 247 km/h (153 mph)

I've abandoned plans to finish off last week's reports. Suffice to say they lacked fulfillment! So mostly just highlights (and some lowlights of tonight).

Why I hate Tokyo in 40 seconds (from different viewpoints):

Nations

EMEA

Slot 2:
Door 15, finished P15 (31pts)

Slot 3:
Qualified only P15. Disconnected just as the grid line-up was due to start due to the old 'LAN cable disconnected' problem again.

Slot 4:
Again, P15 start (Door 5). Finished P14. 29 pts. Dropped to B/A from B/S:censored:

In summary, from the first 3 slots, more reasons to hate Tokyo:

Slot 5

Finally! Door 17, qualified P4. Finished P2 for 59 pts.

N America

Slot 3:
If you like comebacks, this is the race for you!

Started P5 (Door 17). Finished P4 with 67 points. Quit while you're ahead!!!

10 minutes til entries close. Remember, Daylight Savings has ended.

Edit: that was dookie. The track penalties are ridiculous. I literally just about stopped at the first chicane and tip-toed and still got a 1.5 second penalty. I had five green bars.

The start of the race was the most bogus. I had one red bar from qualy until the green lights. Everyone gets to the first chicane. About three of us had red bars. However, I even slowed down to compensate. The car ahead hits another car( CAyman actually hits an SLS into two other cars) and I was coming to a stop and hit the car in front of me. The SLS came to an abrupt halt after hitting another car. About four cars have penalties. The Cayman only gets .5, I get 4 seconds. My bars go to three yellows and then five Green from there through the finish.

I received 5 penalties in the race. Two other Atenzas started in the top 10, but I finished ahead of one on the last lap(must have been low on fuel).

Started and finished 16th.

I know and I have raced with him a few times, he is a good fair driver I just wish there had a been a few like you or him in my race. I got pole and the two guys in P2 & P3 who were telling everyone in chat after qualifying to be careful, one hits me in T1 and the other sends me spinning at T2! :banghead:

Did some free lapping at Monza just a bit ago. The Hyundai can do ~7 laps maximum on the medium compound. I pit at the end of 7, put the hard compound on and filled to 8 laps and set on my way. Pit time for tires and fuel was a little over 13 seconds. (for comparison I ran a separate test taking just tires and it was 4.5 seconds) Lap times in the mid to low 57's on mediums, mid to high 57's on hards. Both falling into the 58's at the end of their life. I'm thinking, unless I'm in a good position at the end of the race to make up the 4.5 second pit time to finish on softs, will probably be a one-stop.

Qualified 9th but should have guessed. Prayed it wouldn’t happen but it did. Got used as a brake on T1 by someone who didn’t even apply their brakes. Only bonus for me was someone in front then stopped me from being launched out the track (ruining their race). Damage to back of the car but didn’t lose too many positions as a few cars picked up penalties.

Did pick up a few annoying track penalties throughout the race and had moved up to 7th with 2 laps to go but got pushed off into the gravel and finished 10th. Probably going go again

Well worth the risk of going again :)

Qualified better in 5th still got punted on T1 by someone who started 12th deciding not to brake but managed to keep it on the track only dropping one position. Started on Mediums, pitted lap 5 for Hards then lap 10 for Softs. Did get pushed off into the gravel again at one point by a Lexus (who got a tire penalty). Had a brilliant race fighting another Viper who had qualified 4th just in front, for the majority of the race. Swapped positions a couple of times on the last lap but he held on.
