Lancia Stratos if you're extremely brave, MX-5 TC if you aren't
Why is that? I would’ve thought that other MR cars would be popular if the Stratos was, like the Ferrari Dino. Would you also say that the Roadster TC is popular because of its aero parts and other bits of tuning? And why wouldn’t FF cars be popular on a course with just one straight?

FF cars shred tyres. I haven't looked up the race yet, but if there's any tyre strategy involved you don't want to be in an FF car. Edit: 10 laps on Comfort Softs at 10x. Yeah, no FFs.

Typically the newer and more high performance the car, the bigger the tyre (and tyre contact patch) and brakes, thus the better the braking and cornering. The Stratos, as essentially a competition car for the road, has enormous rear tyres, but also an extraordinarily low polar moment and a lot of torque when detuned to N100.

The MX-5 TC has downforce and almost instant gearshifts.

I haven't checked whether the 86GT GRMN would be of any use - the gearshift time on that is extremely brief too - but if it's not in the top 10 already, it's unlikely.

I ran the Mazda Demio and Mini '65. The Diesel is not exciting to drive. The Mini, however, it felt good around the circuit.
I also tried the Atenza and MX-5 ND. Those two crossed the line with identical times(with an optimum time in favour of the Atenza).

Any car that fits the regulations, can be used. I see Nations races, especially in this "it doesn't count" time, as an opportunity to use something different.
Abarth 500, Fit, Demio, Kei cars, classic N100s, etc. The grid should be full of variety, but it won't be. It's a shame the E30 and Fugu Z, can only be tuned to 149BHP.

I thought of one more car that would be competitive. It's been in past games and was a go to for many of my races... the MR-S. 138hp, lightweight, well balanced due to its wheels stretched to each corner of the car, good gearing.

I usually use something alternative. We'll see this evening.

Is there gonna be any sort of pitting strategy? How do you form a pitting strategy, anyway? I had thought you just see how long you can drive decently with worn tires, or maybe just pit when everyone else does. I don’t know why you’d want to pit sooner or later; in the former case, you catch up to everyone else as they pit, and in the latter case, everybody will just catch up to you when you decide to pit later.

Nations

EMEA

The Alfa was wholly uncompetitive and I was finding myself over 10 seconds behind the nearest car at times.

Slot 2:

Rather than a report, here's a compilation of the utter madness which overcame people in the sunshine at Monza:dunce: :

Started P12 (Door 18), finished P12 for 35 pts.

Slot 3:
Can be summed up in 3 short clips.

Started P15 (Door 9), finished P14 for 28 pts.🤬

Slot 4:

Disconnected at matchmaking!:banghead:

Slot 5:
Door 14, my only hotlap was ruined by this car, which went on to get pole (just to rub salt in the wound).

I started P17. More insanity followed.
The 'lowlights:

Finished P18 for 17 pts:censored:

Edit: it looks like a tank of fuel will get you through the entire race, same with tires.
Straight up match race :)
Could be very interesting...... Could be a mess too :p

I am going to Do some race simulation runs today. Might be better to pit after 1 or 2 laps even to get out of traffic! I think traffic plays the biggest part in pit strategy, especially when you're near the back of the field. Finding some clear racing road is important back there I think. I think in Monza on Sunday I could do the race with one pit stop but some people were opting for at least two!
As I said, strategy

Slot 3:
Qualifying resulted in P6.
Unfortunately, my judgement wasn't so good and, desperate to pit - I thought the car alongside was either going to back off and continue or we could enter the pitlane side-by side. Neither happened. And I was a bit too keen to make up some of the lost places later on and thought the drivers in front could get through the chicane cleanly. Not the case.
Highlights:

P7 after a 1 place promotion for a tyre penalty.

Slot 4:
P2 (Door 16).
I sat in the pits for the first 1:20 and then tried to use as much fuel as I could before pitting for fresh tyres and my one and only hot lap. I timed it so well that I crossed the line to start my lap with 5 seconds on the clock:

4 of us within 0.5s on Lap 3. If you like lead changes, you'll love this one!
Had a great battle with a Ferrari for the first half of the race, trading P1 and P2 every few seconds.
Highlights:

We were still doing it after we pitted together, but a slower Mustang ended up between us, allowing an Aston to catch up and pass me. Down to P6. After pitting again on Lap 11, I was again behind the Ferrari in P5, but my Mustang snapped left when exiting the first chicane and I dropped to P8. But I recovered to P6 for 69pts.

Slot 5:
I felt it was worth a gamble on another race. The same tactic in qualifying only resulted in P10 on the grid (Door 17). But I did manage to start my only hot lap with just one second on the clock!!!
Things started getting dirty on Lap 5 when a Porsche and Ferrari started to play bully...
Highlights:

I managed to finish P8 for 66 points, so not too much of a loss, but it had dropped me to B/A.

In summary, how the pit exit lane should be used, how it shouldn't be used, and what happens when Karma comes to town!:

Oh, and that last race of the night earned me the Rubens Barichello trophy on my second account.:gtpflag:

In lower DRs some people try different things in N100-N300 even if it means losing to meta drivers.

Really cool! Four MK1 GTIs and a Type 2(beat the GTIS for P14) are in my race. I'm in the 356.

A Stratos is on pole with a 1:50.427, .3 faster than the MX-5 TC.

One MX-5 ND on the grid. The rest are TCs. I may do the next race in the Mini. This should be fun for last place!

Would be great fun to do this race as it is a genuinely unique combination. Unfortunately my PS4 is in pieces as it has had a chronic overheating problem recently.

Absolutely fun! Ferdinand Piech was in effect! We all stayed huddle at the back. The 356 is a bit faster, but I slowed up. I guess the FF tyres were fading, plus we were all getting the .5 seconds at various points in the track.
The Type 2 has surprising pace. Good stuff.👍

Us five didn't get to cross the line as time ran out. I wouldn't trade that race for anything.

Eventual win went to one of the TCs. The Stratos finished 3 seconds behind. I think someone got punted, as per post race comments.

Anyway, the players I raced were cool. We all kept it clean. Thanked each other and I typed I'm using the Mini next race.

If I'm the only different car, I don't care. Classics are good around this circuit.

Everyone is rocking the Mazda Roadster TC. I wish they would force you to use a different car every time you enter...

What! No Sambabus? :D
Oh man that’s do tempting!

maybe a beetle instead...

EDIT: I tried the Stratos, managed to get sideways every few corners... I’ll try the TC & give it a shot.. if it’s no fun I’ll try the GTI or a Beetle for the last race.

yup, entry for this B/S slot is 16 TC’s, 3 ND’s and a Stratos

I think I nodded off during quali, it was so dull... normally I like these “slower”
Races, but this combo is way too dull!

tempted to give it a lap or 2, and then quit and go play the dailies...

EDIT: Yup, quit for the first time during a race... was near the back & got punted into the sand, came back on 10s behind the pack - couldn’t be bothered trying to catch up!

Used the Subaru BRZ and almost qualified on Pole, until a Mazda TC went over the line at the last second and took it away by 0.070 seconds :irked: In the race I did a mistake in lap 1, got punted and fell back to 6th. Managed to recover to 3rd place while defending against another Mazda TC on the final lap. The tyre wear on normal road cars is quite noticable towards the end of the race while the Mazda still has that rear wing it can rely on. Still managed to put in the fastest lap though. At least one thing to rub all those Mazda faces in :D

Did Nations in the Mazda TC, Q P8. Top twelve were same car. Nice clean respectful race, finished P5. Didn't have time to try a lot of cars but the Toyota 2000 GT is fun to drive. Didn't use it because more than 3 seconds a lap but it'd be fun in a race with the Mini, 356 and similar.

Remember that BoP tuning doesn't change the gear ratios. The Beetle was actually the first car I tried, and it ran out of gears halfway down the front stretch. I actually wanted to use the standard SF-R because of the funny livery I have for it, but it doesn't stand a chance against the MX-5 TC...

Did some testing yesterday. Definitely need to stay in the draft for passing opportunities. If I botch the first race with the Miata I may try the Stratos for giggles. But in a 10lap race you definitely want the stability.

Started 4th and had a nightmare opening lap consisting of silly mistakes but got back to 5th pretty quickly and stayed there until the end. Very boring race, mainly down to the fact that the entire grid was made up of Roadster TC's so virtually nothing to separate them. You'd gain half a tenth one corner and lose half a tenth the next. The biggest source of entertainment was the qualifying pit lane glitch which was resolved by somebody getting fed up and leaving. Suddenly the glitch was resolved lol
