FITT Ford Challenges by MCH

I started testing last night and plan to resume again tonight. The lap times are so super close for me too. I usually pay more attention to lap time in these FITT competitions, but with five cars done, I am starting to feel that driver's choice may be a more coveted win. For example, one car is super quick, but very unstable and another I drove is 0.4 second off the top time, but it is the most smooth driving thing so far. I am really putting some thought into my driver's choice scores.
 
My disclaimer... Yes most of you know this by now, but this is mainly for the newcomers both involved in the competition and those lurking in the shadows.
**I’m not a negative person, so if there is any criticism of a tune; it’s not meant to be an insult, and if my time is slower than what you have, then that’s fair enough. These are non bias opinions based on how I drive and should be taken with a grain of salt! I respect and appreciate the time the tuners have put into their tunes and I will try everything I can to get the most out of the tune itself.**

Each tuner was drawn at random, but put in the order as listed to help Hami with the spreadsheet. I ran each car for 2 sets of 6 laps making sure that the tires were nicely warmed up. With this particular challenge it didn't take too long as I was roasting the Goody off of them by lap 6. In order to cover all of the lap times, I would need a 0.761 blanket!

Review: Like all cars with severe TOE settings, it gets squirrely under heavy braking. Back up your braking points and sling this car into the turn. A slight push through the center and it doesn't like clipping the curb through the esses on the backstretch. Nothing major, good tune!

Review: Less understeer and this car could be something special. Had to wait just a little longer through the turn before hitting the gas which hurt the lap times. But after a few laps I was able to throw the car around more, but that snug/center condition would always appear.

Review: There is a lot more tire squealing throughout the lap than most other tunes, not sure if that's good or bad...I'm thinking the second one. It's still fast for me, but there is some minor understeer from center-off that can throw you off line. Yes, I ran the tune as posted (no front spoiler) but only gave myself 1 set of 6 laps.

Review: The nose seemed to slide around more than others causing a push on corner entry. Change your line slightly and it becomes better. Time could be faster, but that push condition forces you to let off the throttle on the backstretch losing some speed.

Review: Solid tune, for the most part it did what you wanted it to. Had a strange wiggle under braking. The rear end wanted to lock up and slide out, but something in the front was making it snap back in line. Get used to that and it was easy to drive.

Average: I matched the PP/HP/Weight/Weight split as closely as the tune dictates. Check out the lap time...right up there with the fastest!?

Review: Only major issue I had was that it seemed to lose its center rotation causing a tight condition. More noticeable when the weight shifted from one side to the other. Maybe a setting is adjusted too stiff?

Review: The braking was pretty good and helped with getting down into the corners, except for when bumps were involved. Seemed to bounce more than expected. Understeer on accel. But I was able to take that last turn with confidence every time with the braking and turn in.

Review: If you back up your braking points this car would slide and turn in beautifully, if you hit your marks. If not the understeer kicks in and has you into the wall. Fun to drive.

Average: Once again, just tried to match the main numbers as much as possible. Open to interpretation as to what parts can be installed. With the parts I installed, the power limiter reaches 97.6%. There is still room to either increase the power limiter or shed some pounds, but I wanted to try and get it close to all the numbers.

There was a lot of complaining so I changed removed the automatic ban rule for choosing to paint a Mustang with a GM paint code.

My best friend painted his 1972 Corvette in Viper red. We walked into the paint store and he asked the guy behind the counter for the most obnoxiously bright red. The paint store guy immediately stated Viper red. It looked great when we finished it.

Yes, I am 100% positive all of the current settings are what I finished my testing the car with. (Just incase anyone else questions the sanity of this crazy tune.) Good luck all you testers with this one. :scared:

I'm thinking a gold hue would've looked spot on shining through the black wheels.

The time looks good but I think it's too powerful. At 5500pp it would either dominate or just shred tires. Good luck. :sly:

To all tuners... I love this at the bottom of DolHaus' tune post. This is a very good way to show the test drivers that you have posted your tune, but may want to adjust it a little before the deadline. Maybe this should become a FITT guideline that when finished with your tune, you must add a line to your tune letting test drivers know that they can start driving?

Due to my slower skill level I tested Bowtie's car for reference and I was about 2 seconds behind with my tune. 1:21-mine and capable of about 1:19 with @Bowtie-muscle's. Also, when I add pictures I will add this note in, early braking and some throttle control can go a long way, or at least it did for me.

My car choices, with all challenges, has a method. Most of the time I try to choose an outlier, like in the first Shootout I chose the Superbird. If the cars can be "inspired" by something then it becomes a little different, example, the Evo vs Impreza battle.

Did I do something wrong in my typing? I am not on the PS3 at the moment so I can't check figures at the moment. If 1hp is all that is different, it shouldn't make a huge amount of change to the tune.. I hope..
 
Only 1 HP, will not make a difference, you have posted 546hp, I only could get 545hp.

Maybe that will get me ahead of you in DC? :sly:
If your Stang tune is as good as your focus tune, you have a good chance of beating me in DC on this event too :) I didnt test your FITT entry yet (for my own fun, not as a FITT tester..) but I estimate that our times will be very close and probably the DC as well.
 
To all tuners... I love this at the bottom of DolHaus' tune post. This is a very good way to show the test drivers that you have posted your tune, but may want to adjust it a little before the deadline. Maybe this should become a FITT guideline that when finished with your tune, you must add a line to your tune letting test drivers know that they can start driving?
Sounds like a good idea, adding a little note to the post saying whether it is ready to go or subject to change could help to prevent issues in testing. I know some people like to get an early start on testing so they can fit it into their schedules and this small courtesy might help them know which cars are 100% ready. 👍
 
@Motor City Hami , I know you have built the BOSS before, will you being throwing your GREEN MACHINE into the fray?

I don't think I will. I am currently test driving the Focus ST class and giving 15 to 20 laps per car; really pushing for top times. Then I need to find time to finish my Ford GT tune. Plus I am not a fan of Willow.
