No, no it does not. Unless you're very young and haven't experienced of the simplistic magic the Playstation1 Need For Speed titles.
Care to explain? No I'm not young and I grew up playing them all.

Edit:
Yes, the old NFS did not have festivals and everything that's associated with it. Where they do overlap is the desire to bring back the passion of cars to the car nuts out there and the younger generation, as well as enjoying them on scenic roads. Parts of Colorado resembles Outback and Alpine courses from HP2, to me at least.

The old NFS was more than just exotic cars and cop chases. Likewise Horizon is more than just the festival, car clubs, modding, and storyline. You need to look beyond those.

i am sad to see this happen.... i have both 360 and PS3.... but i am slowly watching GT5 fans stop playing and moving on because GT5 is no longer fun"
the lobby sucks, it takes forEVER to get from GT AUTO to the race..... its not a well planned out menu.
PD needs to make something happen

For those who're buying the full game, a special-liveried SRT Viper GTS will be gifted out (in the full version of Horizons) to all who download and play this demo prior to October 23rd. Well, provided you play Horizon online... which I sure hope so :D

Yes!!! I wonder how big the demo is......

Edit: anyone know what the Viper looks like?

Demo on the 9th!
Yup I mentioned this in post #239 and included a demo video. The demo will help me make the decision of purchasing or renting Horizon. The dashboard add for Horizon is false advertisement. It says something about "total open world freedom" or something like that. As we know thats not true. You will be mainly restricted to main roads and shortcuts. No offroad exploration to go anywhere you want. I guess we will see when the demo hits next week.

This is so awesome that ill buy an xbox just for this O.o :byebyegt5:

Why is it that most people on here think that they can only play one racing game at a time? "Oh a new game is coming out, looks good, bye GT5!"

Enjoy them ALL. :dunce:

(and you guys know that Horizon has no tuning, right?)

Because some people are tired of GT5 perhaps?

And it doesn't have in-depth tuning/tweaking, but upgrades are still a part of the game.

The Fiat 500 is in Forza Horizon. I'm so getting it now, but I was going to get FH anyway. :D Come on, the game looks fun, who wouldn't want it? Just because it has the name "Forza" printed on the cover or something? :irked:

I wont pre-order the game untill i played the demo next week

Meh tuning isn't that exciting. Most people who own high end cars, or really any car, don't ever time them outside bolting a few things on. I see Horizon as more of a driving game instead of a racing game.

Then why flaunt that over the internet? When I'm tired of a game, I just stop playing it and move on. Not gripe about it because it didn't have a feature I so desperately needed. :ouch:

Because it's much more fun than whinging about other people who aren't as dedicated to a single game as you?

💡

Who says I'm dedicated to a single game? That's not what I said. In fact, I was addressing the exact opposite.

Maybe that's because some people are tired of GT and they may not have the budget to afford both games and consoles.

It sounds as if you're mad about people exploring different games.

I went ahead a pre-ordered Horizon, I hope it will be fun but am waiting to see. I hope it at least has some events where you can do some real racing on closed circuts. From what I see it reminds me a bit of some older NFS titles some of which were ok.

I think the last NFS that I actually played all the way through was Underground2, I also enjoyed Carbon a bit but not as much as UG2. Porsche Unleased imo is still the best title they have turned out.

I have tried a few of the Test Drives including unlimited but they all failed to impress. In recent years the only racing games I have really gotten into are GT4, GT5 Forza 2,3,4
all of which have thier pros and cons and all have kept me driving for quite a while. Forza 3 was probably the biggest dissapointment of the 5 but still kept me entertained for quite a while

Wow, do people not actually READ anymore?

I'm saying.....explore different games! Play them all! And if you don't like one of them, who cares! Keep it to yourself!

Who cares if someone's vocal about leaving a game behind in the first place? That's even more insignificant and even less worth posting, isn't it?

Anyways, I thought the demo trailer was awesome. Kinda on the fence about downloading the demo, though. I actually want to get a fresh experience upon playing the game for the first time... But it'll be a good way to spend the time until FH's release.

I bet the demo will be really cool. Just like how FM4 was, but this one maybe the bomb. :D

This game is obviously a shadow behind NFS MW because it's only for the 360 but I think it will be better because of the talent and experience at playground games. Turn 10 wouldn't just pick anyone to do a spin-off of their forza franchise.

I think NFS: The Run sold somewhere around 3.5 million copies on the X360, PS3, Wii, PC Wii and PSP(?) combined, FM4 somewhere around 2.5 million times on the 360 - that's not too bad

But, even though neither is a definite indcator of how good a game is, I'll value the Metascore on Metacritic higher than the sales figures... And I'll bet that FH is going to rank higher than NfS: MW 2012 any day of the week.

I played this game at E3 and honestly it wasn't very good, at least if you are expecting anything similar to the other Forza games. If not, it's pretty much like the next Need for Speed (which also wasn't very good), though it is a little more realistic than that game.

I know this is probably known, but I just think this game would be a lot better if it was realistic like the other Forzas. That's what I don't like about it most. It basically plays like the Codemaster games.

@TVC did u play with the assists off? The
demo at E3 was set to default which had all the assists on.

No I did not, and I wish I turned them off (I checked but couldn't find how to, I don't think it was possible while in the race or I'm just bad with menus?). If I play Forza 3/4 or GT5 I turn all the assists off. I know the assists on Forza change the game but on Horizon I'm not too sure the impact is as big. I have played Forza 3 with all the assists on and Horizon wasn't really similar. Someone I know did turn them off and said that it still wasn't really like the past Forza games, but I am guessing it was probably more realistic than with assists on.

I mean I know the assists make a difference on Horizon but I also know the game is not realistic, it's similar to the Codemasters games like Grid. (maybe a little more realistic with the assists off?) I remember the guy there mentioning something about Project Gotham also. I haven't played those games in quite some time (all I remember is the turns appearing out of no where) so I can't really make the comparison.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm more into racing games like Forza 3 and Gran Turismo.

The thing that I really do not like about Horizon is I think it would have been better if it was realistic. It would be the best of both worlds, and maybe even more fun than the other Forza games. I was expecting a normal Forza with tracks like some of the Need for Speed games, and that idea seemed interesting to me.

Again, not necessarily a bad game if you know what you are going to get before hand. I don't think I even heard about Horizon before E3, and if I did I knew very little about it besides it was the next Forza. When I played it I was expecting a game similar to the other Forza games and was disappointed.

I think there are already enough arcade racing games out there so I don't see why Forza has to be one (well besides money).

This is just my experience from from over 4 months ago. There likely have been changes since then.

Actually, here is a video where the guy turns them off (at around 2 minutes):

http://videos.videogameszone.de/vid...on-HandsOnTest-und-Kommentar-im-GameplayVideo

Honestly as a Playstation gamer this game looks unappealing, between this and NFS Most Wanted I would definately choose Most Wanted. I know that they are trying some different with this one but any Forza Motorstorm is better than this. (Just leaving my opinion here, no need to be mad at me now)

I would choose Horizon. I don't think I have played a racing game with less feel than the next NFS but maybe that's just me? Like hitting stuff hardly or doesn't even affect the car. I don't think the brakes are even needed.

Just my opinion of course.

While I still hope it plays like FM4 with all assists off my main reason to think about buying the game was the free-roam idea and I liked how PG created a fictional Colorado.

What I don't like, personally, is the car list. If they added the many rather ordinary cars from FM4 instead of all those Supercars I would buy this game at release. I understand there's kids who want Ascari's and Radicals and it's ok to add them in, but I 'd like to see cars I'd see on a trip to real Colorado, so, to me, not including Jeep Wrangler, Ford Taurus SHO, Pontiac G6, Chevy Impala SS etc. and not even some classics like the Bel Air and Eldorado etc. is a big fail.

Instead, a Ford Sierra Cosworth? Peugeot 205, Citroen DS etc.? Where those ever even sold in the US?
My favourite brand is Opel/Vauxhall and I wouldn't ask for those to be in FH, but if there's a Sierra they might aswell add Holdens and Opels...

With the current formula they might achieve to turn 'gamers into car lovers', but NOT 'car lovers into gamers'!

...just my two cents.

To be fair, we don't know the entire car list yet (we know a bit over half). Frankly, I'd be incredibly surprised if the Wrangler doesn't show up; the Raptor's already there.

Why do the cars have to be ones sold in the US? This is a world-market game, it'd be silly to keep the cars to only those available in the real Colorado. I'd sort of expect Opel/Vauxhall to show up, actually: the Corsa VXR or the Speedster/VX220 being the most likely candidates, in my mind.
